How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls
Swimming in a fish bowl,
Year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have we found
The same old fears.
Wish you were here.

On the surface, this would appear to be just one more lawsuit brought by dancers trying to parley 'employee treatment' by a club into a cash award.

On a deeper level, this case is being promoted because California is A. broke, and B. has a statute on the books which defines all dancers in California as 'statutory employees'. If the 'statutory employee' issue can be thrust on more California clubs, it will translate into much more precise club accounting / reporting of dancer earnings thus much higher tax revenues for the Cal FTB !

Although they might not be getting the California 45-minute break during their shift and I have no idea about hours on their paychecks, I do see those girls taking many 5-10 minute breaks. I was asked to sign a statement by my boss and I'm not sure yet if I want to.

ETA: All the girls suing my club specifically are apparently waitresses and former waitresses (no longer working there). No dancers.

Would you mind sharing the content of this 'statement' you were asked to sign ? It might provide some additional insights in regard to where all this is headed ...

I will after I read it tomorrow (really, today, I haven't gone to bed yet--Saturday). He asked me on my way out the door Thursday night.
