^^I'm only taking on an as needed basis. So far I've only taken 1 in a 24 hours period. I seem to be ok the next day though. But the idea of trying heels is a great one thanks!

I took Klonopin in '05 for a few months for anxiety, and all it did was make me bitchy. I didn't get the whole 'calm & collected' feeling a lot of other people do, I was just grumpy and frustrated when it didn't work like I was told it would. I have a freaky weird tolerance too, which sucks ass, because doses that would make people twice my size higher than a kite do nothing to me. After 3 months we decided it wasn't for me and moved on to other stuff.
Now give me my shot of Thorazine, and you've never seen a calmer person on the planet. You sure as fuck don't want to even try that shit, ever. Never ever. (Think walking zombies without any comprehension of what's going on in the outside world and you'll get a pic of most people who take that shit.) I don't get it for anxiety (or so I've been told) but it calms me down so it's harder to get me really stressed out.

Ok..when does the sleepy thing go away? I get SO tired on this..I cant actually sleep, but I just want to curl up on the bed and vegetate. i cant bring myself to do anything when i take this for hours after. Sucks
Your appetite should come back very soon. Also that warm fuzzy feeling is a "high" that you should not get with these drugs, but certain people do for perhaps a day or two...then they like the feeling and abuse starts.
You should not even feel this drug in a couple weeks, should be like taking asprin...but it blocks panic attacks pretty damn well ;)

Ok so I have been taking this for a cpl weeks now on an as needed basis..not every day. It does nothing. I feel nothing.
For all of you that sang its praises about how wonderful it was...what did you feel???
Because again...I might as well be taking tic tacs....I feel nothing. My stress levels are still sky high
It isnt fair that most meds dont work for me.

Well, it's a bit hard to notice for me. I'm calm, but I don't realize it. Or at least, I don't realize it until someone tells me I'm slurring my words slightly or I get up to walk around and get quite light-headed.
For me, the major difference is when I'm not taking it. I take it for granted when it's in my system, but as soon as it's not the horrendous panic attacks come back and suddenly the light-bulb illuminates over my head...The one that says, "Ahhhh...This is because you've stopped taking your medication."
Does that make any sense what-so-ever?

It's not working properly for you. I would suggest this to your Doc. And get on a stronger dosage or another Benzo. Klonopin is very very good for anxiety, but does not work for everyone. I took 1mg 4 x a day! No shit when my heart was wacking out to help keep me calm, and this was the prescribed dosage. I felt nothing after a week, but 'normal' again. Less worry. Xanax gives a kick, but short lived.

^^ I did suggest it to my Dr and he suggested I up the dosage(by taking it more often....right now I take it 1x a day IF that)
I'm just afraid that if I up it....it will zombie me out. It did in the VERY beginning..the first few times I took it i was seriously a zombie. I dont want that again...

I see. Yea, perhaps (score it) cut it in a half! ;) Try that?

I suppose I'll hae to experiment. My Dr(exDr actually since he droped my ins and I now have to find a new one) is big on having me adjust my own dosages until I find one that works.
I've been doing it a long time so I'm used to it....not to mention I kind of have a medical backgroud(vet meds are frequently the same as human meds so I am aware of dosages and side effects,etc...) but still.....what Dr does that???

I know right....what doc. says that? Wow!
But you know your body. If you are having anxiety an extra half added would not hurt you, but i don't want you to be a zombie again. :)
It can (as i am sure you know) hit you all at once, and it has a long half life so it will build up in your blood.
Be careful hun...good luck ;)

Thanks. I just took a full 1mg...so we'll see.
This Dr does some odd stuff...but I am still upset to have to leave him since he is the only Dr my whole life who diagnosed my pancreatic condition correctly and got me on a treatment regimen that may very well have saved my life. So he's unorthodox to say the least....but ...saved my life....so....ummm...yeah....yin yang kind of thing.
Oh...and as far as building up in my blood..the WHOLE point of giving me klonopin was that the Cymbalta he put me on would take a long time to build up. The klonopin was supposed to be an instant gratification thing until that happened. So much for that.
It kind of sucks that because of my tolerance level AND the fact that many drugs dont absorb in my body because of my pancreatic condition....a LOT of stuff has no effect on me at all. And the stuff that does, I only get a fraction of the effect. So I never get the happy high feeling people get from taking stuff like benzos. Then again.....not getting the happy parts means I'm FAR less likely to ever get addicted. Esp since I dont have an addictive personality at ALL.(amazing considering my family history) So I suppose i'm lucky that ay. More stress and pain...but no rehab....everythings a trade off in life!

Hun you are blessed and cursed...hang in there! ;)
I can only imagine. Never being addicted is fantastic! Wanting relief now, and can't get it sucks. I hope the 1mg will help you some.
*Sends a calm feeling to Cameron*

i have such a high tolerance that I have to take 2mg of klonopin to even feel anything.
the next day im super groggy and cant really do anything, so if you decide to take 2mg make sure you have lots of time to sleep/relax and NO DRIVING.
my advice for klonopin: whether or not you have an addicted personality, take it only when needed. because it is an instant gratification thing its not like a long lasting mood stabilizer. so if you take it every day your body can be physically dependent on it.

Yeah i would never take it every day...precisely because I think that it will end up that a dose that does anything will zone me out and I cant deal with that every day.
Hopefully the Cymbalta will help and kick in someday soon.....
I have YET to find anything that gives me instant gratification..lol.
Though it is also why i dont bother doing illegal drugs.....why bother...they prob wont work anyway!LOL!

Finally, somebody else that doesn't respond to Klonopin! It was like throwing baby aspirin at me, nothing happened no matter how much I took. I'm sorry it's not working well sweetie. :(

Yeah, not much works on me. I'm disappointed again, but I guess I should be used to it

No, Cam--my post regarding addiction in the other thread was no directed at you. Sauske mentioned in one of her posts that she was scared of getting addicted to it and I just wanted to pipe in and say she was right to be. I'll respond here because I think the info is more appropriate in this thread.
Benzo addiction is considered to be one of the worst in the world. Everyone knows street drug addiction ain't supposed to be a cup of tea, but most people aren't fully educated about pharmacuetical addictions because they feel safe taking what their doc prescribes. For example, one cannot die from heroin withdrawals. You might think you're dying or want to die, but you won't die. You CAN die from benzo withdrawal, by way of fatal seizure.
And I am NOT one of those anti-pharmaceutical no matter what kind of people. But I've had a family member struggle with and almst die from benzo addiction. He got addicted by taking what his doc prescribed--3-4 a day for 4 months. By the end of that time he was hooked. Ten years later he is trying to put his life back together.

I agree 100%. I've seen a friend go through alcohol/prescription benzo addiction and it isnt pretty. We have no idea where he is now....
I suppose, even though it sucks that I dont get the happy shiny feeling most get from them..hell most dont work at all....at least I'll never have to deal with addiction.
Sadly, because of various health issues, I will likely have to be on a benzo of one type or another for the rest of my life in order to function.I just wish i could find one that worked.

^^Hey, I need them, too! Fuck a bunch of panic attacks. It just scares me because I see so many people taking them as prescribed--which is usually way too much.

Just out of curiousity since we may have similar body chemisty if you dont respond either...have you found one that DOES work?

Thank you for the concern Dottie. I am fully aware of benzo's as I have been in detox/rehabilitation facilities before for other addictions. My psychiatrist told me giving me this script would be playing with fire, but I feel safe enough with myself to not take it every night. It's been two years and i still go to meetings sometimes- but it's nice to know that hey, "I have a bottle of pills, and I dont really want to take them unless I need to"
Now, Cam- I havent read this entire thread so forgive me if Im touching base on something that's already been said.
Have you tried ativan? Unisom? Nyquil/ benadryl?
Instant gratificiation isnt always a good thing. I hope the Cymbalta does work for you- keep in mind, there are so many mood stabilizers out there and they react differently for different people. dont give up! good luck :) :)

In the land of benzos, nothing really works on me. I have to take Haldol or Thorazine to deal with any panic/anxiety issues I have, but taking either one of these drugs sucks major ass. I get Thorazine and it works, but I do the 'shuffle' for a little while if they change my doses.

I know this is off topic but I used to date a doctor that would take klonopin recreationally at night going to clubs. He said it would loosen him up and have the same effect as 'buzzing' when you're drinking instead of drinking everynight. He was terrified of messing up his liver with alcohol (he went out EVERY night, and I do mean EVERY night) so he found klonopin to be a good substitute.
He was always exxxxtra happy on it. *shrug*
I have extreme anxiety, panic attacks, and am strong manic depressive. I don't take anything, nor do I receive therapy. This is really making me rethink all of that.

None of that works for me. I haev a high tolerance and a pancreatic condition that stops drugs from being absorbed correctly. Any of the above has about as much effect as tic tacs. Xanax, Valium.....all of that..yeah...tic tacs. I could take them by the handful and I get nothing at all.

Well...I dont really want to have to go there if I dont have to. I suppose I'll just keep adjusting and hoping

I ALMOST wish it made me feel that way. It doesnt do anything for me now. The first week it took my appetite away completely and kind of zoned me out...now...nothing. Even at twice the original dosage. It doesnt even ease my stress.
I hate my stupid gets-every-physical-and-mental-problem-that-cant-be-cured-yet-no-drug-has-any-effect-on-it body. Boo.
It should be ONE or the OTHER....sick OR high tolerance. NOT BOTH dammit....not both.

I think the klonopin was prescribed to me a long time ago for sleep problems. I've always been a night owl, but it worked well for me and I didn't have problems with it.
I'm on ambien for insomnia, and it's AMAZING. It puts me to sleep right away......
Medication works differently for everybody though.
