Lol. From what I hear, you deserve the bragging rights. But to change the subject for a moment...May I say that your new avatar is freaking me out because it's, like, so unspeakably hot? Seriously. yikes. :hot:
Thanks :)

New Orleans. There are other wonderful places, but this will always feel like home.
For me,
The MK campground in Custer National Forest MT (that's where the avatar pic is from btw). It's been my favorite place since I was little. Beautiful mountain scenery, wildlife everywhere. It even has a tiny (about 2ft across) stream running right through our favorite campsite and a large creek about 20ft downhill that's great for fishing!
It's amazing up there. Sometimes I think about 90% of my happy memories as a kid were from there. Camping even trumped Christmas.
Here's some pics...

NYC!
anywhere with a pretty beach
Since I live in Arizona where water can be scarce, my favorite places involve waterfalls and flowing water. Two areas that I completely love are the series of waterfalls in Havasu Canyon on the Havasupai Reservation, and Thunder River Spring, Deer Creek, and Tapeats Creek off the western north rim of Grand Canyon. Selected photos included below.

Oh yes, San Fransisco, how could I forget! I was watching a movie set in San Fran yesterday, and almost forgot how I still secretly want to live there so bad.
San Francisco has long been my favorite city in the country. I've been slaving away over the last 4 days working TV, radio and print media in SFO, but that doesn't stop me from escaping to the city in the wee hours. I've missed Masa's so terribly; there is no other restaurant quite like it in the world. Whenever I return, they make me feel like I've never actually left.
The city itself is architecturally gorgeous. The panoramic views are legendary. Every time you turn a corner, you are treated to a view that is suddenly different, yet inspiring. From a distance, looking back at the city from the other end of the Bay Bridge, it resembles a sprawling Greek village carved into the mountainside.
The community has greater ethnic, cultural and class diversity than even NYC, and they retain a small-town charm that is becoming increasingly less evident in NYC. You can easily strike up a conversation with anybody on the street, and the level of service and outright kindness far exceeds anything you will see in the U.S. with the possible exception of New Orleans and other select southern cities like Charlotte and Louisville.
I fly out tomorrow to return to D.C., which, after all, is the center of national political power, but at times that seems like a sacrifice when a small yet distinct piece of my heart and soul is left behind in San Francisco every time I am here.

Oh, the list:
1. Paris. The seat of Western civilization and culture. Everything important has happened here, even though it was the 19th Century that belonged to France and pretty much everything politically since has relied on outside powers, whether it be the U.S. or, more recently, the E.U. The greater your historical, cultural and artistic sensibilities, the greater Paris weighs on your soul.
Paris is the Mecca of Western civilization.
The first time I ever spent serious time in Paris was with the Ecole des Haute Etudes en Sciences Sociales, on my way to St. Petersburg, Russia. I was there on the invitation of scholars I worked with at the Kennan Institute of Advanced Russian Studies in Washington at the ripe age of 19. One of my most indelible memories during this period was working as a team interpreter in Russian-English with James Billington, the legendary historian of Russian history, who is currently the Librarian of Congress.
2. New York City. New York is the modern financial, commercial and artistic center of the Western world, and how in the hell can you resist that? Plus the shopping is incredible, possibly unmatched in the U.S., with the possible exception of Chicago or the up and coming Las Vegas, which has really been the most significant surprise in recent years.
3. San Francisco, California. I describe SFO in detail in the post above, and I'm not quite sure how much I can add to that description. The city is an inspirational gift to all Americans and one that is impossible to even capture by description if you have not had the opportunity to experience it first-hand.
4. New Orleans, La. One of the greatest tragedies of Katrina is that it robbed our country of the vitality and strength of the single most dynamic and culturally diverse city in the country. New Orleans doesn't even observe British Common Law like the rest of the country -- it's strictly all Napoleonic Code, inherited from France and actually observed to this day.
5. Montreal, Canada
6. San Diego, California
8. Seattle, Washington
9. Prescott and Sedona, AZ., including Granite Dells and other rock-climbing Valhallas
10. Los Angeles, California. Yeah, I know all the bad press LA gets, but spend a few weeks there and you make the decision. Plus, I was born outside LA in Orange County, so I have a special affinity for the city
11. Montreal, Canada
12. Chicago, Ill.
13. St. Petersburg, Russia (Russian Federation)
14. Sydney, Australia
15. Perth, Australia
16. Vienna, Austria
17. Miami, Florida
18. Toronto, Canada
19. London, England

There is a nature preserve a few blocks from the house where I grew up. The park is several square miles with flower gardens, Koi ponds, and stuff like that. Then the rest is green grass, woods, lakes...
At the bottom of the sledding hill in the winter is a flowing river in the summer. But its hidden. You have to crawl throught the trees. Its serene, secluded and very picturesque. I took a boy there once and kissed him. That's the best place I can think of right now. ;)

Second on the St. Petersburg! That city is so bad ass. And only a marshutka ride away to the prerod at the Summer Palace.
Nothing like being on the bank of the Neva at 2am, surrounded by a drunk, rowdy crowd to watch the bridges go up and the fireworks to happen.
Word to the wise, never shout "Oora" in Russia anymore. Someone might throw a beer bottle at you. ;)
Santorini ( greek isles )
I sssoooo want to go there. :)

Santorini is incredible! The entire island is a really high cliff, very cool. I've been there and Crete.
I would so love to take a private boat/yacht cruise through several of the Greek isles. All of them are unique. Long pit stop in Lesvos Island for some Sapphic exploration, lol!

Look at this picture I just found of the Aurora Australis over my favorite place on Earth (Hobart, Tasmania). Isn't it beautiful? I saw the Aurora Australis while I was down there but it wasn't quite this good...

I couldn't agree more! Something about San Francisco, makes me so nostalgic! Cutting School to make day trips to the city, shopping Haight, stopping to swing on the swing sets on Treasure Island ( the view from here is AWESOME! ) and of course the clubs... I have always loved everything about the culture of the SF bay, even the SFO airport! I will be going back around Xmas and will have to check out that restaurant you are mentioning.
Next would be Pirates Cove, Shell Beach, California. Spent every Wednesday afternoon on that beach during my undergrad, even scheduled my classes around it! So beautiful and the people I met there were amazing.
Truk Lagoon, Micronesia. The most primitive escape and awesome scuba diving I've ever experienced. I will definitely have to make it back one day.
I also really enjoyed Holland.

Grand Place, Brussels, Belgium (I used to live 2 streets away so I love it now)
Duntisbourne Rouse, Cotswolds, England (has a country church in the middle of nowhere that is +/- 1,000 years old)
Coastline Cafe, Ibiza, Spain (truly amazing sunsets)
Prazo do Commercial, Lisboa, Portugal (Lisbon just rocks - and Portugese girls rock too)
Mer du Glace, Chamonix, France (it is an 11km glacier that has man made hollows in that enable you to walk inside)
Maastricht, Nederlands (one of my best friends lives there - he is a student - everytime I visit his hot, Dutch, student girlfriends make a play for me...)

San Francisco. It has a laid-back-hip feeling that I can't get enough of.
New York City. The other kind of hip--right up in your face. When I'm there I get scared because I feel like I'm at the center of the world and no matter what I do there is probably something cooler I could be doing. It's a weird feeling. But I do love it.
Negril Jamaica is my favorite place in the world. I've been having recurring dreams about being there for the past two weeks. I wake up crying and sad when I realize it's a dream.
I would so love to take a private boat/yacht cruise through several of the Greek isles. All of them are unique. Long pit stop in Lesvos Island for some Sapphic exploration, lol!
That's forever been a dream of mine, too! :D

I love the old Daytona beach board walk in October, when I was a kid and till they destroyed it.
I love Melbourne (Australia) in general and miss Southbank. I miss the culture, laid back attitudes. I miss people that understood the world is not the same all over.
I'd go back to Hobart again.
I miss St. Kilda Beach, on those days the Ocean would call to me in Melbourne.
I miss pizza that is not Dominos. I miss smoked salmon pizza and zagames, a pub/bristro, with a massive playground for the little ones.
I'd like to say the Bay of Islands in NZ, but I've had too many experiences there to ever want to return.
I want to go to Japan again.

Nah, you can't take away our vitality and strength that easily.
and yeah, we do have the Napoleonic code, and a high percentage of our population is comprised of lawyers.
As far as other cities, I like NYC. I'm hoping to go back in December. I love the diversity.
