Religious, Jewish, Christian, Nihilist or what have you...in the end, it is best for all of us to treat eachother with the universal standard of kindess, concern, and respect. la dee da dee da dee who likes to party?

I've been extremely lucky in life so it's easy for me to throw the "Karma" thing around. Maybe I wouldn't if I felt I had a truly crummy hand dealt to me in life. I try not to broadcast my beliefs anymore. I feel people are entitled to make up their own minds....

As for Balance in the Universe, I have seen some hilarious and weird ("uncanny") incidents to convince ME that God loves to f*ck with people for His Fun and Amusement. "Roll with the punches."

Yeah, I'm not big on karma. I don't think we're that in control of what happens to us.

It's obviously true to a certain extent re: social conventions. But beyond that, I'm going to say no.

I don't know. Discuss. Or not. It doesn't matter. ;)

Is it bad Karma if I don't?::)

If karma truly exists, I must be the worst human being in the world.

people use karma in the wrong context.

All the word karma means is that every action has a reaction.

If you say you don't believe in it, that's like saying you don't believe in the laws of physics.

It's not about justice, punishment, or rewards, it's simply a cause and effect relationship that must be recognized in order for one to realize that they are in control of their own life.

ehhh or something like that. i think.

according to hinduism... karma transgresses lifetimes, so maybe in a past life you did bad things. not to say that you deserve it at all, but there are unseen and unthought of reasons for everything.

When you can demonstrate karma to me in a lab with controlled experiments, I'll buy that.

No doubt. What an asinine statement.

and to answer the OP... no, I don't believe in karma. I do believe in CARMA, but that's more a factual accumulation of bad driving skills rather than a moralistic balance sheet of credits and debits.;)

OTOH, if you yourself were to be affected in the future by someone's bad driving skills, then it's possible that your karma ran over your dogma. ;)

^yup that's pretty much what Karma is to me....bumper stickers and hooey (the way ppl talk about it.) I'm sure it's different and more involved to some peeps, but as Scarlett_Vancouver so disappointingly pointed out, I'm not in Dubai.:-\

'Laska!!! :-*

Happy Thanksgiving!

Have some Tofurkey with watercress stuffing and then chase it with a spirolina & papaya smoothie for me...

Your karma dictates that this be so!

Me, I'm off to be a carnivore with the fam...;)

Budai you are so my permanent menu planner. I'd even put you on the payroll just to dream it up and someone else to cook it! ha. Karma should be coming back at me with a huge L.A. mansion so I can have this lifestyle. Booyakasha!

All I know is that if you have bad karma, you are going to come back as a cow, and the Americans are going to eat you.

The type of Karma I believe in is that Bad and fucked up people tend to hang out with bad and fucked up people. When someone fucks you over, their probably a sleazy person with sleazy friends who will eventually fuck them over. Like my dad used to say "If you lay down with dogs, you wake up with fleas"

Hmm, some stuff in here attributed to "Christianity" I'd attribute to "Catholicism," but then we Lutherans are a rebellious lot and like to distance ourselves from the Catholics. :)

On karma...I don't think there is a tangible karma in the Universe or any sort of naughty/nice checklist tracking our actions and serving punishment/rewards. When (if) I speak of karma, I think of it more as a label to place on social tendencies. Example; a mean person is mean and goes around yelling at people. People don't like the mean person, and won't be their friend. Mean person is alone and unhappy as a result. It is "reaping what you sow" not through divine or cosmic intervention, but through human reactions.
