Yes ferret, you're right, UK citizens need either a sponsered work permit or a working holiday maker permit the latter of which can only be obtained if you are a full-time enrolled student in the UK. Australian however do not need to have student status to obtain a Working holiday maker permit for 12 or 24 months.

I second the Chill Winston...i've had some good times there, for sure.
There's also a fun club nearby called The modern, actually right next door...good old school funk on friday nights and house on saturdays.

I think the funnest clubs in the city are around Gas Town personally...another good one is Shine. I'm a Vancouver lifer, so if you need any tips just drop me a line!

For good cheap eats, check out commercial drive for kinda rustic/ethnic/yummy/but most of all cheap!

Yay, I love recommendations, is there any really good vegetarian places to go? I've heard there is but not who/what/when/where/how.
We have lush in Oz but it's sometimes a little too smelly for me, does that make sense? But then again, I haven't been there for years.
I'm looking at getting the work permit and then checking out some SC's, or checking them out anyways. I've recieved some good advice on here but more is always welcome ;-)

Jenny is juggling multiple Scarletts!

I like that image. :)

I'm understanding everything here (with the exception of that strange pm from some guy who thought his interest in food and music was relevant).

And, I also have an interest in food and music.

I don't do Mugs very often, but might do it with Cally in Jan. In which case you'll be required to visit :D

Other Scarlett: costumes can be cheap, can be 'spensive...4 pieces (top, bottom, bra, thong) is generally $100 a costume at minimum, $200-300 regularly. I've got some nice starter stuff kicking around that I'll sell for muy cheap-o (like $50-60 a set, less if multiples) if you're at all similar in size to me (5'8" 130 lbs B cup). Have some size 9 and 10 stripper shoes, new or worn once, for $20 a pair too.

Have you talked to my (or any) agency out here? If not, pm me and I'll get you the details.

I'm 5'3"(and a very important half), 136lb's (and losing), 36e natural (bitch of a size to find bra's for) and a size 4-5 UK shoe. Thanks anyways :-)

I haven't spoken to any agencies cos I thought they generally only deal with feature dancers. I haven't danced for about 4 years and was not much of a 'showgirl' then so private dances only for the time being although i'd love to 'graduate' into shows at some point. I'm a no touchy-touchy dancer but i'm a little overweight right now so i'm not aiming too high to begin with, i'd probably work my way up as i build confidence tho, after all, I am a performer ;-)

You have to book through an agency in Vancouver, with a few exceptions: if you work at the Paramount (no-alcohol lapdance club, could be a good fit for you), if you work at Brandi's (prob not what you're looking for), or if you freelance at the regular clubs(sketchy if you don't know people/the system here).

I'd either contact my agency (www.strippernet.com), which deals with rookies, features and everything in between (ie you), or contact the Paramount (www.paramountgirls.com).

Thankyou!!!
I probs won't be able to work for a good 2-3 months after arriving (new years) because i can't apply for a working holiday permit until jan 2, do you think it'd be worthwhile contacting these people now?

Naw. Go in person when you get here. The agency will probably give you some work before that if they have proof that a visa is on the way though...

That would be cool because between rising flight prices and UK living costs in general my finances are dwindling. Although i'm pretty sure the only 'proof' i'd have is that i've sent the application (to sydney).
Am I going to need some promo shots? I have none!

No, you dont need them to start, just when you want a raise.
