Given the choice between blue and white collar, give the blues anytime. I've meet more suits that are assholes. I know several HA's that are the nicest guys, never had a problem with them.

I have to agree with Susan on this one. I never did well at places like Lace for this very reason. It all seemed like to much bullshit for this blue-collar lovin' chick.

My former club was color-friendly. As a matter of fact, you may ask Cally and LadyJade how personable, protective, and well mannered my rough looking, gang affilliated biker friends were to them.

^ I've seen a few (very few...like two) girls in Lace that have ink, though they were staggeringly beautiful and the art was admittedly very good. I have to say Lace West Nyack is probably one of the best clubs I've ever visited.

Right , wrong ,fair or unfair- many clubowners equate "bikers' with trouble and many a high end club would prefer not to cater to them.

And what about the influx of RUBs across the country? I hardly think club owners would turn away that client base.

Methinks you greatly overestimate the intelligence, let alone the predictive demographic skills of club owners. Greatly.

Again, most of the resistance to tattoos is about aesthetics, pure and simple; so many girls with so much bad ink--you can't not see it, even if the chick is otherwise very hot. I know it affects my spending habits in the club.

These managers are simply buckling to the ill-conceived notion that everyone wants to see only tall, blonde, tan women with implants.

At the "upscale" clubs in my area, managers actually seem to want petite , barely-legal dancers, with that Girls Gone Wild look..... so speaks the tall, blonde, tanned woman with implants. :P

I was using that metaphorically actually. ;D

I'm glad you had a good time but you've proven my point. Places like Lace cater to people like you; successful, white collar men who pose no threat at all judging by aesthetics and/or reputation.

My Lace was in Wayne and a good third of us had ink so it wasn't an issue there, but the clientele was. I deal with suits all day. When I wanted to kick back and earn a bit of money at the same time, I worked in a blue collar establishment.

Cold, reasonably priced beer, rock music only and rowdy, harmless humor. I had no time to pump up the already overinflated egos of the "big spenders". I did just fine in my little corner of the world for quite some time.

But enough of the threadjack. Tattoos don't seem to be a big problem anywhere in my area actually. Even at the better places.

I think this is a definite customer personal preference thing, as well as a club "image" thing. As such we all have to make our choices -- club hiring people, dancers, and customers.

Only problem is tattoos are a big problem to get rid of, so for many tattoed dancers, they have made their choice of wearing tattoos. That choice to an extent has repecussions for clubs and customers.

Personally I dislike them, but my gf-dancer has one, so I can be tolerant when they are not overly apparent. Nor have I noticed any particular customer class preference, but then I don't go to really high-end clubs.

i am 'heavily' tattooed (for a stereotypical dancer anyway) and i often find that my best customers are businessmen, guys with money etc.
of course i do well with alternative types of guys too, but like a few people have mentioned variety is KEY. i can do just as well as a blonde bouncy boobs kinda girl. and i can attract the same type of men she can.
it still baffles me that managers are completely blind to the fact that MOST people do NOT find tattoos offensive.

I crack up because the club I'm at has girls cover up their tattoos (some don't sometimes and get away with it) and yet girls put on fake tattoos for the football games. Also we have a girl who wears a fake tattoo sleeve.

we cover up tattoos only to wear the fake ones ???

And as far as the "we will attract scum" thing, that bothers me as well, cause if like attracts like, then what are they saying about us?? Are we scum too??

Good point. If we are not letting 'scum' into the club then you have to not let in about 85% of the current customer base!!
:P

I have been turned away from 3 clubs in LA now because of my tattoos. May I also mention that these clubs by confirmed rumor also offer extras? So basically you can't work at an illegal brothel if you have the word 'cunt' tattooed on your body. Oh the irony.

More on topic, thank you Madcap for this thread. I would like to imagine more customers think the way you do and prefer to look at a few tats rather than be covered in makeup. I will never cover my tattoos, unless I choose to wear a corset.

Also most of my regs are older businessmen. They enjoy ME and often don't care about the tats.

Since there's always a game going on someplace, you maybe could gather a collection of fake sports tattoos and cover up the real ones with the fake ones.

I just had to share my latest experience on this front:

Last night, I went to a club I've never danced at before and get to meet all 3 of the manager/owners. Long story short, I did an audition dance for them which seemed to be going well. When I got to take off my skirt so that my tattoos were exposed (largish lower stomach piece) one them suddenly says "You have a LOT of ink." Me: (still dancing & smiling), "Is that going to be a problem?". He replies"No......." and in a less than enthusiastic tone "....as long as you can SELL."
As I finish, another manger had been smiling all along, and the third stated he liked my dance style. I'm putting my outfit back on and the first one is eyeing my tatt's again, and once again says, "You REALLY have a LOT OF INK." Neither of the other two say a word, so I ask if I will need to keep them covered, or use makeup to cover them. They ALL reply "No, no, you're fine."

So if it's not a problem, why even bring it up? I guess I just don't fit into the mold of what that one manager wants of his dancers. Mind you, there was more than one dancer there with large, tribal, lower-back tattoos. Yep, the you-know-what stamp, as it is so often called. Just as much ink as I have, but I guess the placement makes all the difference. ::)
Anyways, I start tonight and will find out if it really is a problem. I will keep them covered out on the floor until I get a better feel for the place.

BUT!.....
BUT! BUT! BUT!
This little survey shows, 2 out of 3 SC managers don't care about tattoos!!! :P:P:P

"So if it's not a problem, why even bring it up?"

Because men (generalization) feel entitled to criticise and comment on women's bodies even when it is not relevant to the situation at hand... Mmm, patriarchy is delicious!

I have an audition coming up in a couple of nights and I am nervous about my tattoos. I mean, although my blackwork looks good it has faded slightly because my skin does not retain ink well and I tend to dry heal new tattoos on top of that. That and I have a blue celtic knotwork piece on my bicep that is very masculine looking and I really need to get it covered up but that is going to involve sleeving my left arm with more feminine looking blackwork vines. Plenty of dancers at the club have tattoos (one girl has this huge amazing piece on her lower back that is placed like a trampstamp but is definately not a trampstamp) so that does not concern me.

I am just concerned about my tattoos look!

:)

No time to get the touch-ups and cover-ups before the audition because I did not want to give myself any more excuses to postpone it, and I would feel kind of weird with healing scabbed ink on my arms. O_O

I know I've posted alot downplaying tattoo's on dancer's. Not to contradict myself, I am heavily tattooed so is most of my staff and only one of my dancers have virgin skin. I do not hire based on tattoo's at all. I have one dancer that covers an almost removed crappy jailhouse tat on the outside of her upper arm because she feel's more confident when it's out of sight. I have a girl that is heavily tattooed and has decided that she is of nazi heritage, to celibrate this discovery she got a skull and crossbone's on her calf ( an exact nazi replica ). I leave it alone, if she was to get say ss bolt's or a swasta or white power tattooed on her person I would then probably let her go.

I must be able to retain the right to hire/fire based on overall appearance, I am very liberal but if I hire you based basically on appearance, it's on how you look now, what you do to yourself in the future has a direct effect on your retainablity. I don't agree with letting a girl go because she gain's a weight and thing's like that but there has to be a happy medium. Hiring is not a marrage, it's not for better/ for worse.

PS; my staff and I cover our tattoo's while at work, I have read comment's and heard from customer's that we are a biker bar or a place run by x-felons and such if we don't although none of us are ......... well ok I been ridin Harley for almost 30 years and have owned my current bike for 22 years but I still look rightous in a suit, least my wife think's so ;) .

If you put liquid laytex over the make up, it will stay on. I did a thread on it once, but don't really know how to find it lol.

Anyway!! Youre right it doesn't look natural, but at least it doesn't come off all over your gown!

But I think it's silly too to cover it up. EVERYBODY has tattoos now a days!

I have a kinda "suicide girl" look. Thats the reason I got hired. The guys love it. I have full sleeves and I definitly stand out... in fact I have so many I doubt I would be able to cover them... I'm glad the club does not mind :)

Just another shining example of how that city has changed. I blame MTV and Paris Hilton }:D

Alot of my good customers are older businessmen too. They tell me what a beautiful face I have and how that's the first thing they noticed. They also say they enjoy my personality. It's nice to know someone is actually looking at my face and listening to me when I talk...haha

*bump*!

i think that's terrible for the girls who have to cover up their ink. like it's been said, it just looks tacky.

i have several large tattoos, a lip ring, and two nose studs, and the majority of my customers tell me they chose me BECAUSE i'm so far from the stereotypical "stripper" mold, and they wish more clubs had girls who look different. and because i'm pretty awesome. ;)

i had a girl tell me i don't make loads of money because of "all that shit in my face", but hey - there's guys in the club who don't like her style, too. to each their own!

I love tattoos on women! Love! Nothing on earth is sexier (to me) than the "tramp stamp".

I'm pretty sure that guys who say no to me are saying because they dislike how I look, how I talk or how they think I will dance (or, more accurately, they think they will like someone else more).

It could just be that, like me, they're trying to save money. I'm not a regular, but I always thought if I had fifty bucks to spend it was better to stay for awhile tipping dollars than be out the door in a couple of minutes. Stripclubs are expensive places where hundreds can disappear quickly. I had been 10-15 times, never having a private dance, until a friend said to go for it. I said "yes" to a beautiful black woman, who had tats, and although I think she claimed an extra song had played than was actual, she showed me that a private dance can be amazing. Truthfully, it (no extras, unless being able to touch her breasts and butt are extras) was better than most of the real sex I've had (the exception being the ex-wife, who was amazing in this regard...too bad she was unfaithful and nuttier than a fruitcake), and her tats certainly enhanced the experience.

I am all about free expression and being unique, so I love people and things that are different. Tattoos are SUPERSEXY and should never be covered up. I will also be getting private dances whenever I go in the future. Hell, you only live once. :-)

I rarely see a dancer who doesn't have a tattoo or a piercing other than in the ears. I don't mind tattoos, as long as they are tasteful. I saw a dancer once who had a terrible tattoo on her back. It looked like someone took a Sharpie and drew it on her back!
