Thanks so much AL -- I called WO yesterday and asked when the owner would be in and Ryan (ha) said after 8...I was busy last night tho...so I am hoping he will be around tonight and I can present my letter.

In any case my living expenses are very low so I can afford not to work too much -- it won't break me not to work every day like I planned. And I won some money gambling last night too ^_^

Last time I went to work I was there like an hour. I was in a foul mood and wanted to leave. So Taylor said take off... cool. I went to the casino and made as much gambling as I probably would have made working (probably more considering my mood) LOL.

So the owners are there everynight? Yea, theyre on top of their shit and wont stand for crap. Im not sure what affect your letter will have but they really do care (or they wouldnt be there everyday!)

And who the fuck is Ryan? Im racking my brain and am coming up empty... damnit.

I'm pretty sure Ryan works days - he's blonde...

AL, it might be worth it to you to go to the owners of this club with the stripperweb thread as well... not to mention worth it for them to hear about what happened. Good clubs are hard to find, and your support might make all the difference in helping your club be the best it can be, i.e., not having abusive thieves in management positions.

It really pisses me off that the cops won't do shit. And you know it's because it happened in a strip club. It's like even the people that are suppose to protect citizens are f'ing prejudiced against strip clubs. Because, you know, we're not real people or anything!

Don't forget to black-out everyone's names...we don't want some fired (hopefully) manager coming on here as a troll and harrassing our members!

well, in this situation the last thing she wants to do is call the cops when she has no dancer license/business license. thats a min $1000 fine....

Yup, its sad but cops rarely do anything to help... lucky they didnt ask for your license :-\ That could have made a bad situation worse.

Update - just printed out a two-page letter detailing what happened. Oh man - I didn't even think about the fact that I didn't have a license when I called the police! I'm not sure if showing the SW thread is necessary - I will let you know what happens with the letter when I give it to the owner.

The more I think about this, the weirder it is. Grabbing your purse?! I have to wonder if this guy was on drugs, or not quite right in the head.

Because it is Reno I can not say but if some one in Ca. grabs your purse walk out and leave it with them and call the cops. When they get there go back and tell the person that you are arresting them for Robbery. In Ca Robbery is taking from the person of another (little known fact. to pick pocket a Pencil in Ca. is a felony Robbery) or using FORCE or fear. Sense you forcibly took it from you that was a Robbery. Here in Ca the Police HAVE to take the person as having been arrested. The can site him but they have to send it to the DA as the person was arrested. Most people do not know this and he would have most likely have told him that he took for some dumb reason. This is a way to get the last laugh.

I'm really sorry that happened to you SunChild. That "go back to Oregon" comment... geez, my blood was already boiling after reading what happened to you but really... I don't know what to say other than that I hope you kick ass the rest of your time in Reno!

Sounds like some bitches were hating on you for 1) making $$$ and NOT sucking dick 2) for putting them on blast. Once others found out the guy had money, someone tried to make sure that you didn't get it. Not your fault. Hang in there.

Good lord, that is devastating. I think you handled it so impressively well. I would have broken down, for sure. What a sociopathic douchebag.

I think it's only made worse by the fact that the club clearly has good earning potential, but this Ryan person completely marred the experience for you. I'd say it was bittersweet, but clearly it's just bitter-awful.

Please let us know what response you get from the letter. I think that's a good idea, and a good way to try to make sense of a senseless situation.

That is horrible! I can't believe what a "lying whore" that MANAGER was. I really hate people like that and I felt angry when I read your story. I am so sorry you had to put up with such an asshole. I wonder how many other girls have had bad experiences with the management...odds are, this wasn't anywhere near the first time he tried to rip off a girl.

I give you credit for remaining so calm. I have too much of a temper to be able to do that lol. I probably would have slapped the manager for sure. I am happy though that you stood up for yourself by calling him a "piece of shit"!

I don't mean to threadjack but the whole "go back to Oregon" comment reminded me of something...I had a similar comment said to me once. I was bartending at a blue collar dive bar in Kensington(one of the ghetto hoods in my city of Philly), and this middle-aged bitch was talking shit about me and trying to get me fired. (she didn't work there, but she frequented the place on a daily basis because she was BFF since childhood with the male owner and male assistant manager) At some points her and a few other people said comments about me to the extent of, "Do you know where you are???! Do you know this is Kensington? You're from the nice lil' suburbs." I HATED that.

In reality, this middle-aged woman Teresa had only lived in Kensington during childhood, back in the 70s when Kensington was a nice middle class neighborhood, back before it turned ghetto. Teresa doesn't live in Kenzy anymore...she herself lives in a suburb town that's actually more expensive than mine! And as for me...yeah I live in a suburb town now, but before that, I lived in TWO neighborhoods that were--and still are--bigger ghettos in Philly than Kensington. I've had more than my fair share of ghetto poverty living experiences, a lot more than Teresa, who lived in the hood while it was decent and then flew the coop for greener pastures before it turned bad. I felt like tell Teresa, "Ha, try living at 25th and Lehigh, bitch."

People like Teresa or this asshole manager piss me off. They are the reason that I (on rare occasions) end up going back to places and purposely putting on a profane belligerent confrontational act, to show them just how so-called "Oregon" or "suburb" I really am.

Ahh if that manager wants to harass ME, I wouldn't mind...sometimes I like arguing and re-harassing someone just to kill time and to practice my wits. It's fun to bully the bullies. I am the girl that actually called up a collections agency to argue and harass them one time...I was bored and I figured, "hey, collections reps harass and berate people all the time, now I'm gonna do it to them just for the sake of arguing"...and did I mention that it was not my collections account(it was a friend's), and the account wasn't even a valid debt for the friend involved worth arguing about? ::) LOL.

But in all seriousness, I understand what you're saying and I also understand that it wouldn't be fair for the OP or other girls(who DON'T enjoy arguing as much as me) if he cyberstalked them on SW.

You hit the nail on the head. Theres GREAT money making potential here but the girls can be cut-throat. And I can totally see them getting pissed that a new girl came in and was banking on day shift no less. Nights theres so many girls and customers no one pays that much attention because theyre busy doing their own thing. But I have seen day shifts before. Hmmm... around 3-4 pm I walked in once to get something I left in the DR and there were maybe 6 guys there and 12 girls? That makes for a bad situation.

i agree that sun child handled it well.

if a manager, or anyone for that mattter stole my purse with lots of money in it over thier head, i'd def. feel threatened and kick him in the balls in order to get my shit back.

*Update* things have gotten weirder
Two days ago I called the WO to see if the owner would be in. Ryan answered the phone - I just said no message. The next day I had my friend Ben call to see if the owner would be in soon. Ryan was there again and said he would be in in about ten minutes. Then I call in about ten minutes and he's about to put me on the phone but then asks what it's about - I say it's about a business transaction. He can tell it's me and he starts to make up a bullshit story about how everything goes through HIM first and if I have any business propositions I can bring them by the club. I say let me speak to the owner and he gets even more pissed - he obviously doesn't want me to talk to the owner. I just say "I will get in touch with him eventually" and he says "Oh by the way everyone on [my friend's street] is 86ed from the Wild Orchid too so don't get any ideas about sending anyone to the Wild Orchid." I assume with this comment he was referring to my male friend - but the fact that he knew my friend's address off the top of his head (and it's like two blocks from the club) scared the shit out of me.

He then said if I called again he would contact the police - because calling multiple times is apparently trespassing.

He knew where my friend lived because I gave them the address when I applied. I honestly don't think he would come over. Luckily my friend is moving out of that apartment tomorrow.

So I am going to try to get the letter to the owner by a) sending it to AudreyLeigh who knows him personally or b) trying to fax/send it to him. Eventually though I want the owner to know what happened - Ryan was really angry and adamant about me not speaking with the owner. I would try calling during the night shift but after the comment about the address I'm going to wait until I'm out of Reno to do anything.

I hope this does not happen to another girl. The club seemed GREAT but if anyone is traveling there watch out for Ryan on dayshift. You know - after a few days of doing NOTHING in Reno I was sort of regretting standing up for myself. I mean...I could have just let that $200 go and probably made thousands more this week as planned. But yeah - I just couldn't let him smirk at me and steal from me so blatantly.

Yesterday I was thinking about this (obsessing really) and I felt raging mad.
I am helping my friend move tomorrow and then I'm getting out of Reno. I could have tried other clubs here but this was the one I wanted to work at. And it DID have good money potential.

AudreyLeigh - maybe I can email you my letter and you could print it out and give it to the owner or his girlfriend?

AudreyLeigh, I hope you update us on whatever the owner says. Actually, I hope the owner fires that guy and posts a public apology on SW.

^ Yeah seriously. That Ryan guy sounds like a total CUNT. He told the OP that she was "harassing" HIM?...yet apparently it's okay for him to attempt theft and try to physically restrain her from grabbing her purse from him?

People like him should not be allowed to have babies, because that would just contribute to polluting the already slightly tarnished gene pool. :(

Is there a way to figure out when this Ryan critter isn't working and call then? I seriously doubt the club would go to the trouble of calling the police for phone harassment charges, especially since their ass is also on the line if you worked and didn't have a license. You could also try mailing your letter c/o the owner and getting your letter to him that way.

Well, at least you know that Ryan is sweating having you get in touch with the owner, if he knew that he had behaved appropriately he wouldn't care.

I hope he gets fired. I wish there was a way you could also stress to the owner how you've shared this info with a whole lot of prospective traveling dancers who have now written off ever going there.

Thanks for the comments. Even four days later I'm still sort of replaying the events in my head and seething. I just feel really frustrated because I feel like I can't do anything about it. I don't care about the $200. It's not that I want revenge. I just feel like the owner should know what's going on. I bet a lot of girls don't stand up to this guy - and it's crossed my mind that he tried to cheat me because I was a traveling dancer. Even though I had a passport he said they required a state ID. They let me have a Nevada ID at the DMV for something like $11 and I used my friend's address. They don't ask for proof of address there. So yeah, that's why he had my Nevada address. For any dancers who want to go in the future, I would get the ID first to avoid this hassle. I dunno. Hopefully he will be fired.

I really wanted to show up and talk to the owner in person to see if I would get any response but I was seriously a little scared to show up. Anyway Ryan could always say that I was lying. The creepy thing about him is that he seems really nice and friendly, especially towards the customers.

A letter and then I'm going to try to forget about it. My friends were saying "Getting him fired or writing the letter won't change the fact that you had a shitty experience." I don't think I'm overreacting with the letter though. The experience was scary.

PhillyDancer1982
12-14-2007, 03:59 PM
I agree that you should write a letter. It's ALWAYS good to be assertive and express your feelings on issues. I had a few bad experiences with different job interviews or jobs a few years ago. Most times I would either let it go, or it would take me months to summon up the courage to call HR and express my dissatisfaction with the job/hiring process/etc. I wish I had done it sooner.

Yeah there's a chance that writing a letter might not do anything, but at least you know you tried and at least you have the dignity of standing up for yourself and not letting Ryan "pull the wool over your eyes".
