Oooh, that is so my new dancer name!

Thumper was one of my favorite dancers here locally!

I remember Thumper!! At least, I remember *a* Thumper. How many can there be?

As for New Age names, I dance with a "Kkarma." Lots of other Sanskrit words make good stripper names, too: Satya, Ananda, Deva, Dharma, Samprajanata-Samadhi... and the list goes on

Since when is Ms. Kitty a new name? And bubbles? We're not monkeys doing tricks!

Believe it or not there was a dancer I used to work with that went by the name of Bubbles. LOL.

At work, there's a young lady who keeps on saying, "I'd rather be a stripper than work at this crummy job!" One of our co-workers gave her a stripper name of "Bubbles." Now when we see her, we call her "Bubbles."

I have yet to meet a stripper named "Santanico Pandemonium." :)

There's a girl at my club named Mcluvin' and another Viagra and another Nikky D's, and then there's Chesnuts.... I feel so boring...

Oh and there's one named Kiki! I died laughing thinking my doggie was going to jump on stage and do pole tricks!

HAHA! That's so funny! The owner of the club I just started working at has a dog named Kiki... and the DJ often pretend she's the DJ or that she's going on stage by announcing it over the mic.

I should totally use Caprica and I appreciate it;)

We are told when hired to think outside the box when choosing a stage name. I loathe mine but I'm stuck with it now.

Bubbles and Thumper are pretty normal in my club.

I work with so many off the wall names I wouldn't even know where to begin.

Avarice (kind of like that one)
Yummy
Sexy
Sweety
Sway
Swerve

I like Sway and Swerve. I'm using the name "Motion" these days. I thought of adding McLovin' as a last name...depending on my mood.

I dated a girl whose nickname was Bubbles, and she definitely... uh... deserved the nickname. But she was not a dancer, though people asked her if she was a lot cause of the nickname. That was maybe seven years ago?

I am guilty of choosing a weird name when I auditioned. Switch.

Flounder is super cute. I think I will name my next puppy Flounder. ;)

Um....

Not really that funny. Especially with the quotation marks.

Cause, you know, similar situations usually end in hospital visits.

And occasionally critical care.

And at least once a month someone dies as a result.

Not to mention the huge percentage of kids who kill themselves because they cannot cope with being trans, thanks to a culture which promotes hate and ridicule over acceptance and understanding.

So yeah.

Sorry to interrupt the funny. I just hear that sort of stuff said all the time, and I am trying start stepping up about it.

I know I should have a thicker skin.

Sorry. :-X

I was dancing as Kaylee for a while. Sadly nobody ever brought up Firefly and most heard it as Katie. Also I'm just not the sweet, cute girl. I'll probably go with Zoe next time.

OMG, I just realized that when (or if, but most likely when) I return, I've GOT to test drive "Caprica" as a name*. SOMEONE would appreciate it.

*Not that I look anything Like Tricia Helfer, save for the blondeness, and I think Starbuck is way hotter, but the bulk of the population would (understandably) think I was referring to the coffee.

Actually I am reasonably athletic and tomboyish and currently have short blonde hair. Since someone told me I looked like Starbuck when I was having my "new hair" angst I have been toying with the idea of trying dancing in lots of black and khaki, racer backs and boots. Same thoughts as you about the name, though. Kara might do.

I figured from your avatar that you'd pick up on it :D
I did actually consider Inara, seriously, but even though most people wouldn't get the reference, I would still feel pressure to be all beautiful and elegant and poised instead of goofy ol' me :P

I think it would change me. I always change to my name. That's why at one place I named myself Bridgette so I could make myself the person I portrayed OUR Bridgette to be..and hustled my ass off.

So if I was Inara, I'd probably act like her. And make less money. Ha.

I've always thought that Lilith would be a great dancer name. The reference to the original term would be perect. The term Lilith has several meanings:

Its the mythical name of Adam's first wife (before Eve). They argued about sex and she split.
Lilith is also identified with ki-sikil-lil-la-ke, a female being in the Sumerian prologue to the Gilgamesh epic. Ki-sikil-lil-la-ke is sometimes translated as Lila's maiden, companion, his beloved or maid, and she is described as the "gladdener of all hearts" and "maiden who screeches constantly". Another female being (or ephithet for Lilith) is mentioned alongside Ki-sikil-lil-la-ke: Ki-sikil-ud-da-ka-ra or "the maiden who has stolen the light" or " the maiden who has seized the light" and identifies her with the moon.
Hebrew "Lilit", Akkadian "Līlītu" are female nisba adjectives from the Proto-Semitic root LYL "night", literally translating to nocturnal "female night being/demon", although cuneiform inscriptions where Līlīt and Līlītu refers to disease-bearing wind spirits exist.
The earliest reference to a demon similar to Lilith and companion of Lillake/Lilith is on the Sumerian king list, where Gilgamesh's father is named as Lillu. Little is known of Lillu (or Lilu, Lila) and he was said to disturb women in their sleep and had functions of an incubus, while Lilitu appeared to men in their erotic dreams.
A Hebrew tradition exists in which an amulet is inscribed with the names of three angels (Senoy, Sansenoy, and Semangelof) and placed around the neck of newborn boys in order to protect them from the lilin until their circumcision. There is also a Hebrew tradition to wait three years before a boy's hair is cut so as to attempt to trick Lilith into thinking the child is a girl so that the boy's life may be spared.
Although the Talmudic references to Lilith are sparse, these passages provide the most comprehensive insight into the demoness yet seen in Judaic literature, which both echo Lilith’s Mesopotamian origins and prefigure her future as the perceived exegetical enigma of the Genesis account. Recalling the Lilith we have seen, Talmudic allusions to Lilith illustrate her essential wings and long hair, dating back to her earliest extant mention in Gilgamesh.I've pulled these items above from a Wikipedia article on Lilith (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lilith). The general idea is that Lilith is a demon/she-devil that tempts men. She is identified with several cultures in this regard. I wonder if anyone would ever gt the reference in a club? Probably not.
