Poor Britney, she's dealing with some serious demons... whether they be drugs, depression, illness... she's going through something rough.

I don't care what anyone says about Britney, I still love her! She has been an icon for so long and it's such a shame she has to go through one of the worst times in her life in front of the entire world. I'd go crazy too, anyone would. I truly hope she gets better and that she hasn't completely given up on herself. :(

She certainly is falling apart lately...but I wonder about the press coverage.
There was a thread, over in a forum where I can't post, that was talking about custys who tell cute strippers that they are fat and ugly. The theory was that they do this because they'll never be able to get a woman that cute, so they feel a need to tear them down. Is this why the press (and presumably, its readers), delight in pointing out each and every faux pas that Britney makes?
Lately, she seems to be doing a lot of over-the-top stuff, and she seems to be in a downward spiral, but they were harping on a lot of not-so-over-the-top stuff before that. Like when she was driving with her kid on her lap. Now, this is a bad thing; you can kill you child that way. But I think there are a lot of women who have done that. So Britney is an unfit mother because she did this, but we're perfectly happy with the other women who aren't famous doing it?
And there was something else about her kid fell over and the kid's nanny almost didn't catch it. I wasn't sure how this was supposed to make Britney an unfit mother, but it seemed like the story was slanted that way.
And one final thing, while I'm getting my rant on. When Britney did her performance for Gimme More the other month, there was much talk of how fat and out of shape she was, and how she should never have worn that costume. I thought she looked kind of cute. Sure, she's not as toned and flat-bellied as before, but she's had a couple of kids, after all. I still thought she looked pretty good. Is that just cuz I'm a guy?

Well, per the performance - I thought she looked good but she shoulda worn the corset that was made to go with the outfit. It would have looked better. The problem was she did a horrible performance - she walked around on stage. I wanted to see her DANCE!
I will say I did buy her Blackout CD and I do like it. All the smack talk will not make me hate her or not buy her music!

I can't see anything good coming from this.

maybe but maybe not? breaking news!
PEOPLE reports that Spears got a visit from TV's Dr. Phil McGraw at Cedars Sinai Medical Center hospital. Shortly thereafter, Spears demanded and was granted her release. McGraw then escorted Spears to her car via an underground tunnel.
the story continues on to say
' Early police reports said officers thought Spears might have been under the influence of some substance, but Aguirre said there was no evidence of that. "Our understanding is that was not the case" she said.
Officers at the scene determined that paramedics "needed to be called" but it was unclear why, she said.
"We're not aware of any type of injuries that she sustained and she was not combative with authorities, Aguirre said. "

They tested her for drug use and she was clean. At her age she could have developed bi-polar disorder or schizophrenia. All she needs is to get into treatment. She can still get her equillibrium back.

I have a soft spot for her too and I'm sad it doesn't look like there will be a Britney comeback for 2008. What a way to start the year. I also bought Blackout and LOVE IT and just got her new perfume, Believe, on my bday. I hope she gets the help she needs, yet doesn't seem to want.

I think she has borderline personality disorder. She's bery child like acting.
Anyway, for everyone saying she should be commited... it's almost impossible to be commited against your will anymore in the US. They will pressure you to check yourself in for a set (or non set) amount of time. There is now white fan where they pick you up with a straight jacket. Trussssttt me.

Who said they were perfectly happy about anyone else doing it? Its dangerous and illegal and if some other woman did it...she'd be ticketed too. And possibly subjected to a parenting class or someother punishment. It just wouldnt be on the news.

^^^She actually responded to that in an interview and started crying and said that the papparazzi were following her and that she had to get out of there as fast as she could and didn't take the time to buckle in her child. Who knows. But that's the gist of her excuse. We've all made very poor decisions under pressure at one time or another.
Overall, I feel so very sorry for her. She needs a break. The press WANTS her to fail. People want to see "perfect" people fall apart because it makes them feel better.

Well, I can't help but to wonder!
They say your childhood comes back to hunt you. When you have children. I wonder because of a lovesless child hood. With not enought of the right attention. Is causing her to behave this way towards her children. I wonder did Brittney mom do things like this, in secret. Spending all the money. Brittany made from the micky mouse club.
Her boys are proubarly worried about mommy. If Brittany was out of control, while married to Kevin. He could had, her put in the place to help her. If they are divorse. I think the mom have the right to put her daughter, in a place that can help her. Why do they contuine to let her do this? Is there someone who loves her? Or do they get paid because of this attention. She is acting like a child who wants attention from mommy.

Yep. We couldn't get my mom committed until she tried to kill my brother. Now you even gotta keep it real to get medical aid for the mentally ill.
//Britney's kids are better off with K. Fed....Seriously, it's cruel to make small children live around an unstable parent.

Okay I think this is all a stunt. Brittany is trying to take off the attention from the little sister. I just found out! Mom sold out jamie lynn. This is why Brittany was saying her sister was not pregnant. So is proubarly trying to protect her sister in some kind of way. While mom is crazy no wonder why she found home in Kevin.

^True but (don't know if someone mentioned this), I was reading through comments on Perez about the article where K-Fed was driving like an asshole so the paps couldn't get a pic of his kids. People were commenting that when Britney drives like this, she is a bad mom but when kevin does it, he is a "hero." A little contradictory, in my opinion. I think the whole situation is just beyond f*cked up. She obviously has not hit rock bottom yet.

IN Ca a 5150 allows for 72 hours to evaluate the person if they feel that they are a danger to themselves, to others, Or gravely disabled (they can not care for themselves) At the end of this the doctor can ask the court to extend.
Los Angeles County, where she's domiciled, implemented Laura's Law, so she can be involuntarily committed to outpatient treatment.
There's a 72 hour discharge program in effect in New York but the judge rarely orders in favor of the patient. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that things are different in California, or that only one county (LA) actually enforces Laura's Law even though it was passed four years ago.

Britney should get custody, she's the mother. Kids want to be around their mother. Nurturing comes from the mother, not the father. The children will be traumatized from not being with their mother, but not being with the father will hurt a lot less.
The fact that K-Fed wants to take his children away from their mother tells me he's a selfish, sick fuck. What kind of man would try to take a mother's children away from her? The same kind of man who abandoned his girlfriend and child to be with Britney. He probably wants huge child support payments now. He tried to get custody before Britney started cracking. That's what probably pushed her over the edge. Can any of you women imagine some loser coming into your life and taking a huge chunk of change from you and then also taking your kids. That would push anyone over the edge.
The minor stuff that Britney has done is no reason for the Gestapo to kidnap her children and give sole custody to K-Fed. He can have temporary custody until she gets better, but the children belong with their mother.
Britney's whole life started to spiral out of control after she met K-Fed. Now, people are patronizing Britney about her behavior and everyone is taking K-Fed's side when he's probably the main reason she's cracking. It's like when someone's mindfucking you, and people are taking the side of the mindfucker (K-Fed). That would drive someone over the edge.
I knew K-Fed was trouble for Britney the first time I heard that he abandoned his girlfriend and child to be with Britney. I doubt he ever really cared for Britney, he was just using her to advance his "career" and pocket a few million in a future divorce. And I doubt that he really cares for those kids, just ask the child who he abandoned. And yeah, she was a dumbass to hook-up with a piece of shit like K-Fed.
I'm starting to sound like that guy who made that "Leave Britney Alone" video. ;D

Wow. Obviously you've never been around a mentally ill mother who isn't able to care for herself, much less her kids. Kids are taken from their mom's all the time for a million reasons, and it's not always because the dad's are selfish and evil.

You're the idiot. Most courts usually give the children to the mother for this very reason (mothers tend to provide the nurturing, that's what they are genetically programmed to do). If you were to ask any child who would they rather be with, they'll most likely choose their mothers. There could be some abuse by a mother, I didn't say mothers are perfect, but the fathers are much bigger abusers of children than mothers are. *

If you asked me when my mother was drinking heavily and doing drugs, partying without regard to me and my brother, which parent I would have lived with, I would have said my Dad. I did say I wanted to live with my Dad when I was asked by a court of law. My mother did ALL of that when I was younger.

Even if she's temporarily screwed up, that doesn't mean the court should take away her children forever. That's what drove her over the edge in the first place. I don't think she has a organic mental illness, just life circumstances are piling up on her. I know a couple of cases with the same scenario. The mother got better rather quickly and resumed custody with no problem.

Well until she's got her shit together she should not have her kids. There was nothing saying she could never get her kids back. No child should have to live with somebody that's as nuts as she is. If she gets treatment/gets off drugs/stops drinking/whatever the issue is, then she should get her kids back. Until then it's safer for them to be with their father. Really.
I was a kid that grew up around somebody that was mentally ill *and* had drug/alcohol issues and it sucked. IMO it doesn't matter what parent a child is with, as long as the parent with custody is the best suited for the circumstances. Having a vag doesn't automatically make a woman a better parent.

I'm sure K-Fed is going to do his fair share of drinking and staying out all night. It's hard to imagine him being a model parent after he abandoned his first child.
If some mothers are bad, the fathers could possibly be worse. You don't know until you live with the father to know for sure.

I have this theory that if the magazines and the tabloids keep talking about every little thing Britney does, right or wrong, then she won't worry about getting herself straightened out. In a perverse way, as long as the paparazzi are hounding her, she knows she's a celebrity, and that's all that matters in this day and age.
Now (and here's a radical thought, relying upon the rational thinking of millions of people), if we left Britney alone -- the paparazzi spreads out and documents celebrities who are doing something worthy of celebrity, the magazines stop feeding on the misfortune of the rich and famous, and all the rest of us stop making a fuss about it -- then maybe Britney will realize that she's hit bottom, and start taking care of herself.
Gawd. She wasn't famous before for being white trash. Why does that make her famous now?

So you're willing to keep children with an unfit parent on the basis that the other just MIGHT be worse? The reasoning there is pitiful.
If the mother's are bad, the father could be better. Your assumptions have no ground. I've known fantastic mothers, and horrible mothers. I've known terrible fathers, and exemplary fathers.
And by your reasoning, people never improve, and never learn.

But the odds are that the mother will be more likely the better parent. K-Fed's girlfriend didn't abandon her child, so in that case, she was the better parent. K-Fed dropped her and his child like a hot potato when Britney came along. I doubt if Britney or most mothers would abandon their children like many men do.

Oh yeah, Britney was sooo torn up when she lost the boys. Because torn up mothers totally go out and get dolled up with a genuine smile on their faces for the paparazzi and then go out clubbin' all night ::)
This is a game to her. She must think that the courts and K-Fed aren't serious about her cleaning up her act for the boys' sakes. She's acting like a little girl trying to push her boundaries.

James, that's a sexist thing to say. Traditionally, women took care of the children while the men went out and killed the animals. Women are physically able to care for children and men are physically able to kill animals (better). If you've watched any "Leave it to Beaver" shows, you'd see how this has carried on through society. I wouldn't be so fast to call it a "gene". As far as I know, it is getting easier for fathers to gain a sure footing in child custody battles. There are DEFINATELY exceptions to that rule. If there is any sort of gene like that, I doubt that it is limited to the sexes so much as the individuals. Yes, there is probably something to be said about the bond between mother and child (considering where the kid grew for the first 9 months), but that in no way means that the mom is going to be a better parent. That is all dependent on the parent as an individual and all of the traits that they inherited personally (instead of that x chromosome).

Okay, I hate to generalize. But from what I've seen and statistically, women tend to beat and molest their kids less than their male counterparts. Most incestuous pedophiles in the family tend not to be women.
HOWEVER, there's a lot more that goes into being a parent than not molesting or beating one's kids. So while women may not be as sexually or physically violent, they might not be as good with neglect and verbal abuse issues, for example.

YES!!! I so agree that the press and those who relish in trashing her every move are coming from the same place as those particular type of stripclub customers. To make matters worse the press is making $$$ out of the deal.I truely believe that if she wasn''t 'Britney Spears' and instead just a typical young mother going through tough times, a good 3/4 of the woman's trash talkers would be taking a completly different position or no position at all on her and K-Fed's behavior.

well I'll probably get called names too for saying this but I think James Bond is correct about that part. If K-Fed actually cared about his kids he wouldn't be using them as pawns to get more and more $ out of Britney. I doubt those sweet boys mean a damn thing to hom other than a paycheck. Seriously, when is the last time the boy even worked for living anyway? I hate it when women do that crap to men and it's just as bad when a man does it to a woman.
Now don't get me wrong, it does appear that Britney needs some help. She needs help in learning to better deal with the crazy tabloids and all the press. She needs help to learn to better deal with a nasty divorce and custody situation. She needs to learn how to not react to things in ways that cause a negative effect on her as the parent of these two cutie pie kids. Basicaly she needs help to learn the best way to deal with the pressure cooker her life has become. Things are out of control and she needs to learn how to start putting things back together so that her and the lives of her kids can begin to move forward in a postive way. Everyone needs a little help sometimes.

She has the ability to stay at home instead of running around town all day, to move away from LA where she will not be hounded as much, etc.. But she chooses to continue living the way she is.
Yes, she is a human, and a disturbed human at that, but she knows what she's doing when she acts out.

James Bond: You're an official idiot. Britney deserved to have those kids taken away from her. If "minor stuff" includes driving without a valid license, dragging them around town at all hours of the night, and exposing them to all kinds of people, then what is "major"? I'm not saying that once she gets her mind right that she shouldn't be granted the chance to get the rights back to her children, but for the forseeable future that bitch needs to be as far away from those kids as possible.
Also, has anyone ever thought that the only reason all of this insanity happened was because she's "Britney Spears"? If she were a "normal" mother, after she missed that first time in court over child custody, her ass would have been locked up. Britney couldn't have gone this far off the deep end if she was already in police custody. I think that the LA court system has, and continues to, let her slide because of her celebrity status. Just like they let her out of the hospital early. These so called professionals will not learn until she seriously hurts herself or somebody else. I can only hope it's not one of those boys.
As far as K.Fed goes, I'll admit that I thought he was a slimeball, but I think that now he is genuinely concerned about his kids. He fucked up in the past with Shar, but I think he's trying to do the right thing. For those who are bitching about him not having a job, it's because he's taking care of his children. No nanny and no outside help except for his parents and Britney's mom. I applaud him for keeping the kids away from the press when they're with him and trying to make their lives as normal as possible. He might not be father of the year, but he's doing the best he can.
Lastly, where in the fuck is Britney's family? Nobody except her father came to see her. At a time like this she needs all the love and support that she can get. Man, I bet Justin Timberlake is glad that he got the hell away from that train wreck when he did.

The press would not be making money on her if she stopped getting the paps to follow her everywhere she goes ON PURPOSE.
well I guess we'll just have to disagree on that because I just do not believe anyone does ALL this damage to themselves on purpose. Not buying it for a second.
If she was getting positive reactions to press maybe I'd agree she had a deal with the paps. But all this negative attention. No way. Sorry.

Negative attention is better than no attention, according to all these young "starlets."

I'm sorry but everyone who is saying K-fed has changed is being a bit naive. For one anyone would look good next to Britney right now. For two, his lawyers told him to stay out of the party scene so that he does "look" better than Spears. No one changes over night. This is just his little act until he gets everything to go his way then guess what? He'll be back to his ways. He's not father of the year people!

She has never been a mother. Baby on the lap while she's cruising around in her convertible? Partying with Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan? And even if these tests came back negative for drugs, clearly she's been into some bad $hit for awhile-- it's just time to pay the piper now. Of course her children should be taken from her. This started because she left her oldest IN THE CAR and LOCKED HERSELF IN HER ROOM FOR AN HOUR with her other child, refusing to give up the kid after her visit. Idiot.

I agree that K.Fed isn't going to get an award for his behavior and that any jackass with two brain cells to rub together would look like a better parent than Britney at a time like this, but I think he truly cares about the boys. I'm sure his lawyers have told him to lay low, but at least he has enough sense to listen to them, unlike Britney who is on her third(?) legal team because she is completely out of control. None of us know what is going on in his house, but I can say that when the kids are with him you never see them get photographed and they seem happy and healthy. I'm sure he's not Super Dad, but he is the better parent at a time like this.

SuburbanSocialite, you're the official idiot. Your comments are pretty much senseless and are not worth responding to.
