I'm sorry...but I've never heard of anyone having insurance for $100/month. Maybe if it's through a company...the employee portion may be $100. But, to cover it all yourself? No way. Joe even looked for insurance just for himself (a couple of years ago) and the lowest was around $300/month.

GreatWest insurance sucks major ass. They take your money and they don't pay out jack shit. Ever. For anything. Of course, that's pretty much how most insurance companies are these days. Which is why we will never have insurance again. >:(

When I was in FL I had BlueCross/BlueShield for $130/month. It was a high-deductible plan to go with an HSA. So it really never covered anything. Plus, I lied about my medical history to get the policy. Otherwise, they never would have insured me. I now realize how stupid that was becuase if they would have paid out anything I'm sure they would have figured it out and not covered a damn thing. But you can get affordable insurance IF you have never been treated for a damn thing in your life.

It's so frustrating. I am not making it a priority right now. They can wait a week because Iknow it's going to be a very unpleasant phone call.

Well, I wouldnt put it off. With my charity the paperwork had to be with sent to them within a certain amount of days from discharge. You may miss your chance.

But it would be a good idea to call when youre in a somewhat good mood. If you call and are rude (like I was originally with one of the calls) theyll treat you like sh*t. But if youre pleasant theyll work with you.

Its not always unpleasant. I've dealt with very nice people at hospital admin before. They aren't collection agency reps, they WANT to help you. Once it goes to collections is when the phone call sucks.....

I just paid for new contact lenses and yeast infection medicine with my HSA card. And I havn't even full funded it yet, but I already have $1,000 to spend. Its awesome! I highly recommend it for tax savings.

I'm so sorry to hear that you got hurt and about the horrible bill you got stuck with.

I read ER doctors blogs sometimes (weird, i know) and I read something that might help you out.

Hope this helps!

I just got off the phone with the lady from the hospital. I guess they are going to send me an itemized bill. Why they didn't in the first place is beyond me.They also took $1300 off, That's good. Now I have to apply for Access and if I'm denied then theey can extend financial asistance.

*keeping fingers crossed*

W00T! Yay this is working out better for you. The stress of medical bills just brings on more issues and/or slowing of healing time.
