I got my books yesterday and $370 later my credit card was smoking.

^Ouch.
It's just wrong how they inflate the price on textbooks. And then the buybacks don't give you anything. I spent $40 on a little paperback and after the class was over the bookstore was willing to give me $3. >:(

I still haven't bought half of my text books. The first half ran me $270, so I'm scared to death to go pick up the rest. But I 'spose I'll get over my irrational fear and go on Monday.

Sell them on Amazon!

Or half.com

I'm cereal HK both are great places to sell back books for a good price.

Sad thing is my books were almost twice as much as my classes. I don't know how people who go to States and UC's do it. I'm trying to get out of school with no loans.

I'm a virgin to online sales. It makes me nervous, but I suppose I really should try it. I have mountains of books in superb condition that I'll never use again.

GAH. Three classes so far, 7 more books needed. SEVEN! I knew only having to order 4 books was too good to be true! And I have two more classes after this. Oh please, don't let them make me buy more books.

Thank you! I might actually take you up on that. I've got to sort through boxes of books first.

Two semesters ago I had to buy a total of 19 books. Ugh. And I don't by the recommended ones, just the required.

Dude. I never buy the books. Or, rarely. If I even buy a text, I buy the text on the topic that is in the format/writing style that I respond to best. If the assignments are drawn from the course text, I photocopy those pages from the library edition.

Sometimes Ill order the text if I find it cheap on amazon..but I'll get like the 1982 edition, lol.

Hasn't been a problem yet. :D

I wish I could do that. Some of my teachers are such sticklers for the books. Though I do have an old edition for my algebra class.

I do totally try and photocopy it if it's available from the library though. And one of the books will be available in e-book format (at a very reduced price) and the teacher told us to get that one instead. \m/ So I only ended up spending $80 more.

Ah well, my school has fucked up yet again.

some of the classes I am registered for and paid for I am not on the roster for. Other classes I have never registered for or paid for I am on the roster for. Nobody knows why, or what to do to fix it. I have called everyone from the registrar, counselor, department heads, to emailing the instructors themselves.

Meanwhile, I have classes I am fallign behind with because I can't attend them yet because I'm not on the roster. I am pissed beyond belief. And nobody knows what to do. They say, Oh I have no idea, call these people. Those people say oh, that's not our problem, call over there. ::)

I just want in the fucking classes I paid for.

I hate HATE this goddamn school. I can't transfer soon enough.

Oh god! Your school needs such a smacking, Kaylin. Do you not get a receipt/term bill listing your classes? That's such bunk. I am all over my term bill making sure, because it lists the classes I signed up for.

Are there any higher people you can call? Deans? Your local educational authority? *crossing my fingers for you*

Man, am I jealous. I'm required to bring books to class in to of my classes this semester. Damn are they heavy to be lugging around all day!

In the last couple semesters I've had three professors put their own (brand new) books on the class list. Um, conflict of interest?

In better news, my contemporary theory professor is totally the Michael Kors of the art world. Same attitude, voice and just, wow. :D

I HATE that. HATE. In my one history class, the first day the prof tells us "I know you're all sad that the former prof retired (same guy taught the class for like 10 years and people loved him), but I will not be making you buy a $60 book I wrote like he did" LOL

English comp was scary. My teacher for that class was an ass. Before the time I W'd out of the class there was 12 people left in the whole class.
Why are you having trouble for which one you should crash? Is it a time thing?

Today was my first day of Calc I and man I'm a bit scared. She will only drop one quiz and no tests. There's 5 test plus the final. If I do well I might as well try to take Calc 2 in the summer.

I just want to say that I think its cool to see all these strippers in school. Yay 97 more posts to go until 10,000!

I had a math test today. The prof made us spread out so we didn't cheat. WTF? Is some one really going to try and look at my math test? Do people really still do that after high school?

After I graduate (if I make it with out homicide), I am so taking a year off to dance full time and just NOT be involved with anything academic. And possibly moving somewhere with more money and less traffic.

^Tons of cheaters. I love sitting in the back of classes on test days and watch them all cheat until they get caught.
You'd think that paying for college = wanting to learn, but it doesn't. It's really sad and pathetic.

But I go to one of the major party schools, so all the drunk frat boys HAVE to cheat to stay afloat. Although I think it takes more effort to cheat hungover than to just do the damn work.

So in my Technical Writing class we all had to write Resumes, to which I'm thinking ::) and meanwhile all the little Freshman in the class are panicking about. So I get out my textbook, fill all my information into the template it gives us, and I'm done in about 20 mins. Prof looks at it, says its complete, and goes so far as to say I don't need to come to the next class because they'll be working on re-drafting and mine has nothing on it that needs changed. So I'm thinking "sweeeeeeeeeeet"

Then on Friday she hands us all back our grades, and I look at mine and she's given me a B. A freakin B?!?!?! Why the hell did she tell me it needed no adjustments only to give me it back graded with a bunch of "suggestions for improvement" >:(>:( If she had TOLD me, I woulda FIXED IT!!!

It's on, Professor Keith!!!!!!

TigersMilk

Yes, it is. Its boring as hell. Want to cut my eyes out with a rusty spork. This might sound bad but I don't really care about art/sculptures and mythical stories from the past. I like things that were based on real people doing real things like plain old regular history. Learning about some crusty old sculpture or cave drawings just isn't interesting to me.

Fuck man, I'm taking this Genetics course that I HATE because my last advisor told me I had to to graduate with my BSc, and new advisor emails me the other day going "why are you taking this course, you dont need it". WHAT THE FUCK.

The school is so paying me back my tuition and allowing a late withdrawal if it turns out not be be a requirement. Grrs.

On the plus side, LOVE my other courses.

I can't figure out why the hell I have to take one of the courses I do. How come I have to take a chemistry class for diagnostic imaging but the radiation therapists don't? Wouldn't you need a background in chemistry to mix up and administer cancer drugs more then you need it to take x-rays? Who planned THAT curriculum.
