I just delivered my son last month, so I completely feel ya on the shaving thing. The thought of alot of hair completely made me wanna gag. What I did was actually funny. I was so big that I would get in the tub to shave my legs, as good as I could, and then stand up and blindly shave the other areas with my head leaned against the wall of the shower so I could reach. It wasn't the most ideal but I wasn't hairy either. I must have looked completely out of my mind.

Usually I am an advocate of hairy pussys, but it is pretty scary how long and thick your hair gets when you are pregnant!!! FUck I was nearly able to plait mine for a while there, so I was scrapping blind in the shower...

Returning to this because, upon reflection (heh, the thought of "reflecting" on the state of my pubic hair of all the silly things), it's kind of reassuring. I thought it seemed to be getting longer than usual, but wasn't sure if it had just been a long time since I'd gone au naturale or if it was just my imagination . . . What a relief to know it's common for this to happen. *shew*

I think the overall gameplan will be thus: Mast has some of those really fancy & safe trimmers, and really, all kidding aside I feel fine about him using those on me, so next time he's here, we'll go to town with that. :D Trimmed but not shorn completely.

Nina, I too was a little weirded out by the shaved pussy crowning shot, now that you mention it! Not by the baby's head + vagina, that's no big deal, but by the baldness! I've seen a zillion pictures & videos of childbirth by now, but none of them were shaved. And I'm sure not all of the moms were crunchy hippies (some, for sure, but not ALL). Pubic hair seems like a normal part of birth, I guess, though I'd never contemplated it before.

The things pregnancy has one ruminating about . . .

Yes. I'm sorry but my first thought on seeing that was it looks like a plastic Mr. Potato Head piece.

well today is the day i must bushwack
I am officially grossed out by my pubic hair
It just feels funny to me
I have a 3 stage attack plan worked out
first i'm gonna stand in the shower with water off and use hubbys electric trimmer thing
then turn water on and do what i can with the intuition
then the 4 blade man razor for the hard to reach spots
We have a stand up shower with a seat so propping my leg up on that helps
This will probably be the last time i do this pregnant.

I wont miss this and will forever appreciate how pretty she is when i shave her.

So interesting! I've always wondered what pregnant women do concerning grooming. I always insisted that I'd never let myself become..unruly, for lack of a better term. I was talking about it with my Mom and told her as soon as I knew I was going into labor I would shave before I went to the hospital. She said, "Sweetie, you'll be in labor. What your nether-regions look like will be the last thing on your mind, trust me."
/:O

That may have been true for your mom, but I can tell you that I cared!! Although I wasn't freshly shaved, I was happy to not be all unruly down there. My legs, on the other hand were hairy and I could see every damn hair on my legs under those bright delivery room lights. I even said something about it and my sis and Boyfriend were like, "Nobody cares." But I did.

Well, the thought of MR. Potato Head having a vagina would freak me out, as well. But, seeing a Mrs. Potato Head vagina probably wouldn't be any prettier. LOL ;D

Boys who freak out at the thought of grown women actually sporting pubic hair, you might wanna steer clear. I mean that in the nicest way possible. This may or may not mean you, Mast. ;)

SO. Here's a blunt & frank topic.

Things are getting logistically difficult. As my belly gets bigger and bigger, I not only can barely reach my genitals (cleaning is no problem, but carefully wielding a razor is different matter), I literally can't even SEE them anymore!

As I'm just now nearing month 7, I've got a ways to go, and grooming my bits ain't going to get any easier. What do other pregnant women do??? Shave blindly and clumsily? Wax (shudder)? Or just relax and let it grow for once?

A frivolous concern, ultimately, no doubt, but where else could I make such an inquiry besides our beloved SW? I'm not about to ask about this on some crunchy and/or mainstream parenting site.

The esthiology instructor was just discussing the fact that a lot of pregnant women come in to get bikini and leg waxing the other day.

I definitely will get a pedicure at some point, though! :D

Be careful with the pedicures we were told there are certain areas on a pregnant woman's feet that can induce labor. We have been told to come get the instructor when a pregnant lady comes in to find out whether or not it should be done and if so areas to avoid.

My mother told me that they shaved hers completely prior to my birth.

Mission accomplished
There was some blood shed with the trimmers, I honestly dont know how you are supposed to hold them and of course i couldnt see ANYTHING
It was slightly tricky getting it all done and the squatting was kind of hard to recover from haha
BUT now i'm soft and freshly shaven with a light coating of dream cream and it feels nice and clean.

I'm actually a massage therapist - I'm familiar with the acupressure points on the foot & medial ankle you're talking about & honestly, it's nothing to be fearful of. It's good to bring this up to students to be on the safe side, I can see that, but honestly, I promise you don't need to be too paranoid about it. I can guarantee you with my life that you're not going to cause miscarriage or preterm labor by accidentally grazing one of those spots.

Let's put it this way - if a woman were seriously OVERdue, or in labor and having trouble progressing, you might be able to help move things along by really working those points quite strongly, and very specifically, with a lot of experience and technique behind it - and even then, you really have to have that intention behind you as you work.

I say this not to jump down your throat, but to both ease any fears that YOU have while you're learning, and also so that other preggos out there might not misinterpret and get unnecessarily worried, thinking that their babydaddy giving them a footrub is going to cause disaster. It's really not. Again, I understand & respect why your instructor brought them up, but if causing miscarriage were that easy, we wouldn't need abortion clinics. ;)

Haha, yep, we were talking upthread about how they used to do that as part of "prepping" back in the day. The times, they are a-changin'. Back when women never shaved their vees, it was a part of the standard hospital delivery routine. Nowadays, women usually shave themselves as a matter of course, yet they no longer do it in the hospital. Isn't that ironic?

LOL at the thought of a porned-out Mrs. Potato Head! Yikes!

PhillyFilly, glad your grand grooming adventure turned out well! Pics? Nawww, I kid. ;D (Or do I?)

I admit, I tried it once around 36 weeks and failed miserably. After that I said fuck it. Same deal with the legs. I kept shaving my pits only because they were the only fuzzy part of me that I could still reach.

And you know what? I had her two weeks ago and everything is still furry....and I truly don't care.
