This is so sad and shocking I had to wake up my boyfriend to share the news. He was just in the Darjeeling with Owen Wilson who tried to commit suicide. It sucks to have to stop and think how fragile and finite our lives are :(

Apparently it was that he had pneumonia and the medication interacted with the ambien he had been taken and went in to cardiac arrest, how fucking horrid! This is why I ask so many times "are you sure I can take this with this?" and call 2 or more pharmacies to make sure! Oh God how fucking horrible.

Fuck...that suck and is so sad. Didn't he have a daughter...a very young one? It will be hard having her grow up without her daddy and hearing all the talk about an apparent "drug overdose" or some suicide speculation. Fucking media...anything to sell their papers.

No hon, it was a mistake. The medications he took caused him to go in to cardiac arrest, they were not compatible. I hope his ex is well and his family. HE was my age, my age man!

I am seriously, seriously saddened. Must be how ppl felt when River Phoenix died in '94. Someone with substance.

omg I don't think I've been this sad about a celebrity in awhile, maybe when I watched a Chris Farley bio.:'(

I LOVED Heath Ledger!!

This is really so sad, his poor little girl. Its always sad when someone so young dies. Do they know yet if it was suicide?

How could you not love Heath? He was a charming, aesthetically beautiful man. Hell of an actor. I hope his passing was painless and his close ones can find solace.

ROAR!!!!

The sleeping pills he was taking are considered quite dangerous on their own here in Australia. I don't know how they're viewed in the US.

It was just at tragic accident it seems. No suicide. No getting high. Etc.

And as far as I know, he was always nervous and twitchy in interviews because he was very, very, very shy.

Lysondra

^ Not really, I take the same pills and live in Australia. I've even hallucinated and walked naked down the street 'picking flowers' on that stuff. They still give it to me even when I tell them. Just don't take them before you go to bed. Go to bed, sit and relax, THEN take them. Maybe he had a hallucination fit?

Either way, Health will always be remembered in my heart for being the man to take it in the ass for Australia.

Apparently though he was also sick with pneumonia.

That fucking blows... how sad. :(

My friend met him a few years ago in LA & said he was so nice and down to earth. And looked better in person than on tv. Ugh, how sad.

He was nervous in interviews because he had anxiety issues. I remember he commented on how difficult all the Brokeback publicity was for him, because he was uncomfortable being questioned and photographed. They said he was on anti-anxiety meds too...god, how sad. Whatever happened, it's a tragedy.

i wonder if the joker dies from a drug overdose in a manhattan apartment in the new batman movie....that would be spooky

R.I.P though.

it certainly is very sad. i was never a huge fan or anything, but he was a very good actor and far too young to die, and he certainly was not one of the young hollywood personalities that you'd have picked to be heading towards an early grave. it almost seems a little bit surreal.

I watched the TODAY show this morning and they said that the new Batman movie really disturbed him and he couldn't get to sleep so he was prescribed some sleeping pills. And then just a few minutes ago that the autospy results were incluvise. Its just so tragic and so sad :(

I am so sad about this. It is just haunting me. He was like my favorite actor... and this* (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=u6z2ZZ4wTiQ&feature=related) is, like, my favorite dumb song, the song I am always singing in the shower or while making dinner. Except that the song's not funny any more. May he rest in peace.

*I am not trying to be tasteless, this really is pretty much my favorite song, because I loved Brokeback Mountain so much, and I also love Family Guy a ton. I make my roommates sing it with me several times a week. I'd post a link to the song from the actual episode but it seems as though the Family Guy people took it down from youtube.

I was so sad when I heard about this via text when I was at work yesterday. He was one of my favorite actors... so gorgeous.... not to make light of an extremely tragic situation, but I totally named my first vibrator after him.

I feel so bad for his little girl. :(

Yup, according to CNN the sleeping pills were over the counter pills. I really wish the press would wait to see what really caused this poor young man's death before rushing to the judgment of an overdose.

What a horrible tragedy.

^^CNN already corrected themselves about that.

He was taking Ambien, which is a prescription drug. Along with prescription anti-anxiety meds.

wow.:'(

this is just really fucking very sad. He was my biggest famous crush growing up. I just saw it on myspace and din't know if it was true. I feel bad for his little girl and Michelle, even if they weren't together anymore she must be crushed.

I'm seriously feeling teary eyed.

Ambien causes waking amnesia. Like Lysondra, I've done some crazy shit on it. One thing that might have happened is that the effects of the Ambien caused Heath to forget thaht he already had taken an adequate dosage of his medication for anxiety, and the pneuomonia. He might have taken it again, causing the reaction.

This really frightens me because I've overdosed myself a few times, and made it.

I agree, this is very sad and shocking. He was a very talented actor, too.

Is it me, or does it seem that drug-related deaths are becomming a bigger and bigger problem in Hollywood? I know that drugs have been a part of Hollywood for quite a long time now(since Hollywood first came into existence?), but here it is, less than a full month into the new year, and there's at least 2 deaths of actors, presumably related to drugs. This is really sad.

Ambien causes waking amnesia.

Wow I had no idea it causes that. Thats crazy. So basically you do stuff and forget that you did it?

Yup, last night I cleaned out the kitty litter and cooked some potatos and peas. I barely remember doing it! I've taken Ambien, then checked the next day, and realized I had popped another one when I forgot I had taken the first!

I was half asleep when i found out from the mornin news, sooo sad!
I just had a horrible inkling that something big would happen this yr( i thought brad renfro's death was it) My condoloences are with his family, their press statement was so upsetting.
I think The Dark Knight will have "cult" success and be very sad to watch like The Crow after Brandon Lee was killed :(

Who was it that tried to commit suicide last year? Owen Wilson? That shocked me, and this is on the same level. People you don't think are fucked in the head, ya know? Something bad in the water in Hollywood.

I saw 'Celebrity Suicide' on the TV yesterday and I thought it was Britney.

Heath Ledger never came to mind when loony celebs were being discussed. So sad.

That's so weird! I said this exact same thing to my bf last night. It's very ironic.

Inconclusive because these drug tests take around 10 days to get anything back on.

We'll hear more when they get the tests back.

Maybe now people will realize how bad Ambien is.

It's just not safe.

Uh oh. I take Ambien sometimes to help me sleep. My boyfriend is prescribed them and I took a half of one last night. I am on anti depressants too. I don't think I am going to take another Ambien now:-\
