Looks like the NHL created a rule to keep anyone from doing what Avery did. I think it was unsportsman like but he wasn't attacking, taunting, or threatening the goalie. He was trying to screen the goalie.
The Wings were out everything last night; out skated, out hit, out shot, out hustled and they deserved to lose. Did someone not sharpen their skates? I was screaming at the TV last night "Skate damnn you just skate!!!!!!"
hockeybobby

That was a ball-hockey move Avery was doing. Bush league.
Marks for originality I suppose...

Without Avery the Rangers would be golfing. Obnoxious pest, yeah, but the kind of obnoxious pest you want on your team, not the other side.
What happened to the Red Wings in Nashville? You think somebody will show Draper where the blue line is at tomorrow's practice?

It must be feeling tight around the collar for Montreal.
Smart move by Detroit to start Osgood the other night. Hasek just doesn't have that air of invincibility anymore.

Yeah, Forsberg and Foote are nice pick-ups, but you're goalie being unbeatable is worth way more.

If the Wings play defensive, hard hitting hockey like today they'll go far. When they don't.....
Looks like the Rangers will be playing a Pennsylvania team -- bring 'em on!
3 of the 4 Bruins goals last night were by players too young to drink. Monday night's game 7 shapes up to be an early round classic.
Back to the west, is Duck flambe on tonight's menu?
SPLUT

Roasted Duck Wally - I guess maybe they should have tried to actually put a team together instead of waiting for a couple of over the hill stars to come in half way through the season.
Ozzie lets in 1 goal in 2 1/2 games? He's in net till he really screws up.
I think Washington is just teasing me. Go Gal-Gary!!!!

Anyone else see the Molson commerical touting how nice Canadians are? In one segment they show a stripper from the legs down with three guys in the background. the voice over said " We clap for dancers that shouldn't be dancers".
I got a little chuckle out of it.

Nice to see the Caps live another day.
I hope the Flames win tomorrow. I have no Sharks in my hockey pool!

The Habs will play either the Flyers or the Rangers in the next round. I don't see the Flyers giving them much trouble but another original six series, this one against NY, would be interesting.

You must dump that guy Scarlett. He is wrong for you...get a nice Leafs fan boy. They are much better.

The league must be pulling for a Caps win tomorrow. A Crosby/Ovechkin series would be huge.
Don't listen to him SO. Leafs fans are all sick in the head.
I've always wondered... why aren't they the Toronto Maple Leaves? Who was the genius who came up with Leafs?

oh the indignity of being a leaf fan right now. Habs advance, Leafs suck.
I might as well just give up. I'm going to the rant/vent thread.

Washington wins and my pool entry stays alive one more day. What's up with VS? The guide said that they were showing the Wash/Philly game but they decided to show Mon/Bos. CBC already had Mon/Bos and the Washington game looked like it was the better game. Stuuuupi VS.
Playoff coverage has been a bit spotty - I didn't see any of the Dal / Ana, and Col / Min series and just a bit of the Wash/Philly.
WallyT

Makes note: Wings fans would rather watch a game 6 than a game 7.
Last year I actually ordered Center Ice at the start of the playoffs, then regretted it after round 1 because Vs/NBC had all the games round 2 and later.
SPLUT
04-22-2008, 05:35 AM
I was looking forward to both of them, but if Washington lost I would be out of my pool so I really wanted to watch that game. After the first period it looks like the Washington game was the better game, unless you are a Habs fan.

Bummer for the Caps. That uncalled interference goal has got to sting. Looks like the Flames have their work cut out for them too.
Pens/Blueshirts Friday. Bring it on!

Woooooooooooooooo!
Four goals in a little over eight minutes...just what the doctor ordered. Sharks survive another tight playoff series with the Flames.
Four point game for J.R. - don't know why they didn't play him and Setoguchi more. Those two guys were the catalysts for this win.
So now I can relax for a couple of days...and then the Stars. Let's do this, San Jose!

There's a station called NASN (North American Sports Network), which is owned by ESPN and Setanta Sports, which carries the NHL regular season and playoffs. So I'm either staying up late, or hitting the sack early and waking up at 3:00am (as I did last night) to watch the games. If the game isn't on TV (for example, Game 3 of SJ/CGY wasn't televised), I'll listen to the Sharks radio broadcast via NHL.com.
I see I'm alone in my love for the Sharks...c'est la vie.

Craig Mactavish was the last to go bucketless: Exposed K-noggin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Craig_MacTavish)
Josie is on record as being firmly in the penguins corner. She's already on the offensive...tweaking some noses. I think I'll root for them too, and strategically avoid her highly partisan meanness.

I have met Sean Avery.Which isn't why I don't like him. I don't like him because he's an embarrassment to hockey. In my eyes, he's not an agitator, he's a rodeo clown.
He's merely a decent player.

Last Night, I went to the local AHL playoffs. River Rats vs Phantoms. 2-2 at the end of regulation. I stayed 2 overtimes before the baby started to get ansy and we had to go. I hear this morning that they played 5 20 minute overtimes before the home team lost 3-2.
Oh well, at least the Giants won.

The world should have CBC's Hockey Night In Canada. It would be a sin akin to witholding food from a starving soul, to deny them that.

The Pens' young legs combined with the last line change have given them just enough of an edge in the 1st 2 games. Watch for Renney's ability to call the matchups to neutralize one of the edges now. If the zebras would have the guts to let the league's franchise player just flop around on on the ice - or better yet CALL the frickin' dives - it could turn out to be quite a series.
