Looks like the Stars have won the Brunnstrom lottery. I had hope that the Wings could have snagged him but there were real questions on whether he could crack the line up, or if he would get significant playing time.

Three power play goals? Dallas, especially Ott needs to play better. They will not be able to bully the Wings.

The Wings opened a new exhibit in the Joe Louis Arena lobby...the deed to Marty Turrco. That's right - we own him.

Wings had NO TROUBLE with the Stars at all. Gonna be a short series.

WallyT

I can see the Stars clawing back to extend the series to 5 or 6 games, but only if they stay out of the penalty box. The Wings' PP is clicking, and they are playing playoff-caliber defense this year (for a change).

In the Battle of Pennsyltucky, I'm calling Philly in 5. The Penguins have been giving up way too many easy goals and odd-man turnarounds to hold off the Flyers swarming attacks.

SPLUT

Dallas DID play a lot better in the third period. I liked how everybody from Dallas and Vs kept saying that Turrco's record against the Wings didn't matter because "it's the playoffs". It's not like we were going to put our farm team out there. sheesh.

Brain Engblom - get a freakin haircut.

Geeezus can they steal more goals from my beloved Pens???

This game should be 2-0 here in the 2nd. The Flyers gotta be paying off the review judges..

Everyone knows the puck was in. However, letter of the law says they couldn't call it a goal because at no point could you clearly see the entire puck crossing the life.

It's ok TG. It all worked out in the end.

True true.. Good guys won in the end.. but man, that call pissed me off in a big way at the time. It was obviously a puck and a half length over the line, even if you couldn't physically see any white because of the glove..

I thought this series would be tougher, but it seems like the Flyers can't stay out of the penalty box. Might be a different story on the road though with those beasts they call fans in Philly..

Well they both play with visors so it was the right thing to do.

Looks like Ron Wilson was finally fired. Long overdue IMO.

SPLUT

Dallas came out on fire, but they couldn't sustain and went down flailing 5-2. The Stars couldn't cash in on their chances and Huddler and Zetterberg did. Zetts' shorthander was a thing of beauty. Datsyuk scored his first hat trick of his career. All this without our leading scorer in the playoffs.

Superstars beating down the Stars

One more time - We own Marty Turco!!!!!!!

Watch, now the Leafs will hire him, he used to play for them.

Man, looks like the NHL really wanted Detroit to get another home game this series. Some of those calls in the first 2 periods were downright criminal.

Russia wins...Kovalchuk's only 2 goals of the tourney tie the game, then win it in overtime. Great game.

Wow, Don Cherry really ranted in Coach's Corner about the delay-of-game call that led to Russia's winning goal. (I'm assuming this - the game was not televised in the UK.)

And wow, Pittsburgh has put a stamp on this series, haven't they. (Check the "Talk Like Diablo Cody" thread on pink for my 2nd period summary.)

Any idea as to how I can get some tickets to the playoffs?

Stubhub.com or the JLA box office. Hopefully they will sell out this round.

Probably too late, but I snagged seats to game 7 in Raleigh just by going to Ticketmaster after the Hurricanes won the conference final. 'course I didn't know if there would BE a game 7, but those tickets got awfully valuable just before gametime.

Hell no, I didn't sell them. And it was a pretty good game (unless you're an Oilers fan).

If Osgood keeps playing like he has been, you'll get your wish. The flightless birds give up a LOT of SOG on their own end, and Marc-Andre Fleury ain't all that.

Don Cherry is calling the Red Wings this years future champs. Based on what i'm seeing so far, he's probably right. Pittsburgh seems overmatched after a game and a half. They need to salvage something positive out of this game.

rob0411
05-26-2008, 08:42 PM
Detroit again. Can Pittsburgh win at home? They haven't lost there since February so the next game should be very interesting.

Go Wings!

SPLUT

Overmatched

Outplayed

Wholesale line changes bring about nothing

The only question left is will it be 4 or 5 games.

The NHL must be crying their eyes out right now.

Brian Engblom needs to wipe Crosby's cum off his lips before he goes on camera.

The Pens came to play last night. They had more jump in their step for the first half of that game. Crosby just ate up Brad Stuart for both of his goals. Wings will have to play better and there was a lot of room for improvement. The Wings weren’t making the crisp passes that they normally do and Pitt jumped on the turnovers. Both team had their chances but Pitt took advantage of theirs. Can’t wait for Saturday.

That 9 minute whistle-free stretch in the third period was real hockey.

I was wondering when the 'guins would come out of their shell. I still think Osgood beats Fleury over a series, and one good game in three from the kid hasn't convinced me otherwise. But I'm glad they're trying to play championship hockey along the way.

It's amazing the connection fans build with their team. I'm still feeling shock, disbelief, sadness... a whole myriad of emotions. He was only 21 with so much ahead of him. Such a tragedy.
