He got her a kitty bed! I just had to smile and hug and kiss him, ok I am almost crying cause how thoughtful is that?! Oh he is so, Oh he pisses me off at times but this is why I love the man!

So what happened to poor baby Grayce? I am so living vicariously thru you right now....soooo wish I could be there to help! I just stared at all those pics again, DAMN it must be hard to photograph cats! They are such great pics, all of them.
I love Clay. He looks like such a cool dude. :)
I can't believe Norm's house is spotless, omg.

She had kittens, she stopped eating the people just abandoned her and the volunteer grabbed her and took her and her kittens home. She noticed she was think but thought after having kittens her body was getting back to normal but then she was getting worst so she took her in just in time.
Her diagnosis is Anorexia, due to not eating. Pancreatitis and/or hepactic lipidosis and a upper resp inf. So even if she wanted to eat she can't smell her food so she has no desire. I have to feed her soon and clean her again. Today she walked more and she is currently in the bathroom cause I needed to clean my room, since all she gets are liquids her bowel movements are runny.
Yesterday as I was feeding her she opened her eyes as wide as I ever seen them open and she placed her paw on my hand and looked at my eyes, I took it as a thank you. She recognizes her name now, I call her and she lifts her head and tires to find me.
My cat is surprisingly calm, to the point where I believe Peanut feels bad for Grayce. My mom asked me "why are you doing this? why didn't they put her down is she's suffering so much?" I explained that she is a good cat and needs a second chance, then she saw her and said "omg she's gorgeous"
Anyway getting off to offer her some food, today I tried putting some baby food in her mouth she licked my finger so that is good! but if she wants nothing to do with it I have to tube feed her so I have to warm up the food. I will keep you guys updated :)

Jesus, this is killing me...
But I love the parts where you can tell she appreciates what you are doing, and is growing to trust you. Don't doubt it--this is what's happening.
Please do keep us updated! I want her to get better!

Believe me DJ it is really heart breaking. I called the vet and they said it's hard to do from home but they want me to dunk her behind in water. I also bought the training sheets so I can place them on her bed. I washed all the blankets and her towels.
When I fed her she purred so I think it's getting better and she was more I guess alive cause she rubbed me with her chin :) I really hope this gets better quick cause I already can see how sweet she is.

So she can't smell? Poor honey!!
High_Heel_Lover
02-20-2008, 04:56 PM
Oh that was so difficult to do. But once in the water she stood still. It needed to be done, it was all clumpy around her anus, sorry for the graphic descriptions but I want people to know cause this is something no pet should be put through. If you can't have a pet, don't have one, they are alive, they suffer, they feel and due to negligence this occurs.
This poor cat is probably now angry at me but I wrapped her around a towel, cleaned her box well, and cleaned her the best I could. The smell is terrible and I bet she doesn't even know cause like you said Alaska she can't smell.
She has a check up on Saturday and I hope she eats before then so they can take the feeding tube out but she does not seem at all interested in food.

Oh and if you see your animal is ill and you don't have money for a vet, surrender your pet to a local shelter, please don't let the poor thing die a horrid death in the wild.

There is no doubt in my mind she knows you are trying to help her, knows that there is something wrong, and that she really appreciates it, but can't express it much as she is so weak. Which makes it all the more touching that she is trying, poor sweet kitty :'( .

Will she ever be able to eat normally again, or do they know yet?

Well bad news and good news, bad news she hasn't used the litter box since 4 pm yesterday, good news is I just served her dry food and she got up and went to it ans sniffed it a bit, so that is good, now this not going to the litter has me worried.
Now I tried offering tuna and nothing, baby food and nothing. If she starts eating on hre own they can take the tube out in a week but she shows no interest :(

This might not work, but what if you put the tiniest possible bit of catnip on some soft food. I mean just rub it a bit with some, a little. Or does catnip get absorbed via the olfactory system? Obviously the cat spazzing out wouldn't help her eat, but just the tiniest amount to pique her interest and get her interested in food as a positive thing???
The litter box thing might not be all bad, if she's had the runs maybe it means she's getting over them??

That is true. I might try that. I also hope she isn't getting dehydrated cause she isn't drinking, all she gets is through the tube but she tried to meow when she saw me, didn't come out it was like a "ah" sound and she scared the crap out of me cause she shook her head and the part of the tube that unscrews to open the thing came out but leaving the thing open! I was like "ah! what if that had happen while sleeping and oh it scared me. She is currently in the office with me, sleeping on a towel, looks like a little ball and now she doesn't smell bad. She's purring again and today she has been even more active. I will take a pic later when I give her some more food so you can see how much better she looks.

Poor Grayce! I will have to say, though...she probably won't eat or drink with the tube in. Tubes are extremely irritating and can cause the pet (or person) who has it to refuse food and water. They'll probably try to take the tube out and see how she does. Hope she's feeling better, though.
As for Carmen, I did talk to Joe and he's open to it...but we'll have to see how we can get her out here, the costs, etc. So, that's where it stands as it is. He's really busy now and I don't think we'd drive out any time soon (due to his schedule) and I cannot make that drive by myself as preggers as I am and with 2 small kids...
Let me know what can possibly be worked out and we'll talk.

:( My hubby's boss, his dog passed away :( I can't stop crying.
Well Kelly was 12 yrs old. She was such a good dog. She was a Samoyed, this breed...http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c160/lolitastar79/samoyed_06_puppies_for_sale.jpg
and they had gotten her when she was puppy.
She was such a sweet dog, I have known her for 10 years! Brian told me "I don't want to ruin your day but Kelly passed away honey" :tosses arms in air:
She went missing and the boss and daughter were looking for a long time and the neighbors heard them calling her and they all said "if we see her we will take her home" in the AM they get a knock and it was one of the neighbors "I found Kelly by the creek, she passed away" oh how I can imagen the pain!
They though maybe she went to drink and fell and drowned cause she was a senior but no, she just laid there and passed away peacefully. RIP KElly.

Venus I spoke to Norm and he has to get back to me but we got in to a conversation and one thing led to another and I was talking about my online friends and stuff and I kinda slipped and spoke about Strippers and him and Lynn looked at each other and said "You know perhaps we can start giving them all the new ones stage names!" I looked at them like "what?" and Lynn said "No seriously, why not? they have great names" so I think it was really funny and very nice to hear lol

First update on Grayce, she went to the bathroom :) and it's more stable and she also urinated so yay!
Now Venus and Scorpio you guys Norm sent me an email this morning :sigh:
"That could be a problem. We don't ship animals and don't adopt outside of ~100 mile radius. We have to be concerned about returns and outside of that radius, it is impractical.
Norm"
I'm sorry guys. Unless you guys contact him and I beg I don't think Carmen can go to you guys :sigh :( :

And I told you--she knew what you were trying to do for her. You know, that might have made all the difference, too. Animals feel love, it's been more or less demonstrated scientifically--though I'm sure there's a few academic holdouts. And love received will not only make you feel better and aid in recovery from illness. You gave her a reason to live.
That is so sweet...

Oh honey she is doing so much better. Any time I touch her bowl she thinks food is on it's way lol Today she did have a bit of regurgitation and last night she kept me up with her choking, I think the tube is just killing her in the sense of bothering her. Today she came out of my room and got on the window and looked out side then jumped on my recliner and took a nap. She lets my kids pet her and she is really trying to meow.
She is such a joy, she really is the nicest cat I have ever seen, I don't know if it's cause she knows I am taking care of her or if it's just the way she is, either way she is a doll. I'm gonna feed her some through the tube now and go to bed but I'll give her a squeeze for you :D

Will you be able to adopt her out now? I'd be so attached after all this...that was always the hardest thing for me when I fostered...I cried when I brought them back to be adopted.

I didn't get to go take pics, hubby got home late so Wed it is. Grayce is currently taken over the comp chair and my Peanut is not happy! that was her spot but it's ok, she will get over it. She has done such a turn around DJ I am really happy about that.
