I used to buy Lucky in bulk. I still read it occasionally because I their approach to fashion in practical, but on the other extreme I like W for the amazing fashion pictorials. I read all kinds of fitness mags, don't really stick to one.
However, I have yet to find a mag that centers of practical, small home interior design!
Archetecherial(sp?) is great....if you have over $1M to spend, but I don't.
Can anyone recommend something to me?
Oh yeah, Cosmo sucks donkeys! I started reading it at 14 and took every word verbatim. I was so-o-o stuuupid!

I've read some good small home mags, but the best ones tend to be foreign-British/Australian generally. For some reason every US small home mag assumes we have $3 million to spend on decoration. Or that we're Miss Muffet. I pick through the mags towards the back of the rack.

I started out reading Cosmo in high school and their advice was setting me up for neurotic clingy co-dependency!!! I moved on quickly to undo all that bad programming!
i stopped reading cosmo when i realised that their SIX AWESOME NEW [SUMMER/KINKY/VALENTINES/insert any descriptive word] SEX POSITIONS TO BLOW YOUR MIND that they printed every 3 months were the same six sex positions given a different name and set in a different location. the squatting frog on the couch is exactly the same as the kicking gerbil on the beach.
YES!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl: So fuckin true.

We're in the adult business right!? Read "Spread"! I think that the link is "www.spreadmag.org" or something. Google it.
I am such a magazine whore! I can't get enough of shitty editorials and "reveals". Mind you, I love "The New Yorker" and the like. Yet, Cosmo still crawls into my bathroom. I know it's the same thing over and over. And I do get very mad at the "do this for your man and he'll be happy" bullshit. I just love to read the confessions, even though my own "confessions" are so much better! lol!
Anyway, back to "Spread". It is seriously the best thing ever! I've heard of it before, but was unable to get a copy until I went to Seattle last month. It's all about the adult biz. There was this awesome section of how "I got into the adult industry". And it featured a wonderful article about the first legal "brothel" in B.C. Love it! Even though it's an American collective, they are still interested in international affairs. I really am not trying to sell their mag, but it's brilliant! It's nice to finally find a mag thats super interesting and centered abround our business and it's problem. I'm actually planing on getting back issues because I love it so much.

I haven't read Cosmo for years, for the same reasons you all have complained about. If I don't know how to fuck my man by now, no magazine in the world is going to help me. I do like the Oprah magazine. Aside from Oprah though, most women's interest mags bore me. I prefer Newsweek, Smart Money, Consumer Reports, Mother Earth News, Hobby Farms, Fine Homebuilding, and a few other special interest mags. Oh yeah, and I will admit to picking up Us and Star for mindless celeb gossip.

I used to read Cosmo back in high school, but it's just so lame now... I also read all of Helen Gurley Brown's books for the hell of it. The magazine changed a lot when she stepped down.
It's really hard to find a good magazines marketed to women. I read Allure once in a while, but SW really gives me the best make-up tips I've ever tried. (Thanks ladies! I finally have the smokey eye thing down!)
Playboy and Seed are awesome. I just wish there were more good ones out there.

the only reason i read cosmo and similar mags is to kill time when i don't feel like reading something more involved. i'm a bit "add" so it's a decent filler.
i don't buy into any of it though. actually, most of the time once i get 1/2 way through it i'm like "WHY DO I BUY THIS CRAP?!?!" heh

I do that every time!!;D My husband keeps telling me he's going to shrinkwrap one issue and put it in the mailbox every month since its exactly the same anyway.

Ok it's embarrassing to say, but I still flip through it for entertainment's sake. It's the raunchiest nonporno magazine i can get my hands on haha. But I'm so glad someone noticed this. I check out Cosmo and all it talks about is doing shit for your man, but when you open Men's Health all it teaches you is "How to Cheat on your Woman Without Her Finding Out" and "How to date 10 hot women at once." Can someone please write a mag like that for us real women? Like... "How to score 10 Hot Guys and take all their money?" This really pisses me off. It's our society I swear.

I can't remember what blog this is from but I LOLed the first time I saw it and saved it:

I fucking hate Cosmo; it's one of the most degrading magazines for women I've ever seen.
I read Lucky but it just makes me discontent and depressed at all the money I don't have to buy the expensive crap they advertise.

Do they still publish Domino? it's by the makers of Lucky and it's all about interior design. Some of the stuff is pricy but they do a lot of stuff about how to make the best of a small space and everything in there is really cute.. You should check it out.
