Darn. I'm so broke... and I don't celebrate Easter. But this looks so tempting since I was shunned from participating in the Secret Cupid thread. Is there a post count on this one too?

so if you ask something of your person, they won't know it's you!
and i agree, it's not fair to request a recipient.
no no, when you ask a question, its anonymous. it doesnt show the name! otherwise some of us would still know who half those people were :P
i dont know if its been answered, but if you dont want something, there's a "do not want" part when youre making your wishlist.
Djoser
02-23-2008, 01:48 PM
and i really, really dont think its fair for someone to request a recipient like djoser asked on the elfster site. whts the point, then?
Well it was a question, not actually a request. I don't think a question about whether it is allowed or not is unfair. Fuck I'd had 4 hours sleep in 2 days, cut me some slack.
Hell, I don't know anything about this, I never tried it before. But there's a sort of joke present that would be perfect for someone I know, who hasn't even signed up yet. Never mind about that...
Consider the question retracted. I'm too busy to fuck with going and doing it now, I have to try to catch some more sleep before work. At this point I might just drop the whole thing.

At least 500, which you're over. Besides, I would have vouched for you. :)
If you want, we can go shopping for things together - we'll make pretty spring baskets!

Easter is March 23rd this year, but the exchange date is April 1st so we have plenty of time!

ok, so fuck not being materialistic. I picked some deliciously expensive naughty little nothings, just in case TOO wants to spoil me as well. I've never owned something so lovely.
I am in love with this lingerie:
(Djonser, I wasn't saying the question was unfair, just that no, that shouldn't be allowed. You can always pm the person if you want. I hope you have a nice sleep, and that you wake up in a better humor. )

I'll vouche that Kitty69 is responsible! ;D She's my penpal and sent me a letter and vday card already and we've only been penpals for like a month! I vote that Kitty be allowed to participate....:P
Hmmm I'll have to decide today if I'll join this exchange...I want to send something creative so if I get an idea then I'll sign up. Great - now thoughts of this exchange will be in my head all day! LOL!::)
I vouch for Kitty69 as well. When we were both disqualified from the secret cupid, she and I exchanged gifts. She got me 2 books, tons of Lush stuff, candles and BRITISH CHOCOLATE!
Anyone who gets her is lucky as hell.

Yall, the PMs I sent has the dates listed. Dates are also listed on our main page at the Elfster site.
There's a "Do not need" section in the wishlist. Fill it out for anything you don't want.
In the wishlist section, put anything you like, preferably with links, but you can also just list stuff like fave colors, interests, hobbies and such with no links.
If anyone wants to send something to someone specific, do it via PMs. No special requests, except if you aren't willing to ship international.
I put a bunch of stuff in my wishlist, from cheap to quite expensive. I don't expect anything on the list, but it's there for ideas and to see what kinda stuff I like.

Everyone please read:
If you don't know how the gift exchange works, please read the info on the Elfster site and in this thread.
I think I already posted something similar in answer to someone's question, but here is a summary of how the gift exchange works:
I guess the theme is Bunnies, and the gifting date is April 1 (April Fool's). We've been talking about gift baskets, Bunny Baskets, but that's not a requirement. Have fun with it.
You sign up on Elfster by the sign-up deadline (March 1), then the Elfster site randmonly assigns names to everyone, as if we were drawing names from a hat. Everyone creates a wishlist (including a do not want list). You look at the list of whoever's name you got, and get them a gift you think they'll like based on that. You can also look through some of their posts on SW to get ideas, or just buy something specific they listed on the wishlist.
Ship your gift early enough to arrive by April 1. A week for domestic, or 2-3 weeks for international.
For anyone who's not willing to ship international, please PM me and I'll fix it on Elfster so you can't draw anyone outside your country(ies). Although, shipping international is really easy. Go to the post office, fill out a short form (clerk will help you), pay, and you're done. It's not much more expensive than shipping domestic, especially if the package isn't heavy ;)

they have "flat rate" boxes at usps that are only 8.95 to ship anywhere. there is a weight limit on international (20lbs i think). but pretty much whatever you can fit in the box regardless of weight (if its domestic).
the boxes are different shapes, but roughly a bit bigger than a shoe box.

Honestly, as long as you ship USPS, you won't pay out the ass.
A package I recently sent to Germany cost $12 and arrived in a week. On the other hand, a domestic package through Fedex cost me $23 (with corporate rate discounts) and took 4 days.
So, as long as you ship on time, there's really no price difference issue.
Bridgette
02-23-2008, 07:45 PM
Yeah, I've shipped international a lot, to many different countries. It's not expensive or difficult, and most packages arrive in about a week, no matter where it goes. Only time it takes longer is if it gets held up in customs, which is completely uncontrollable.

^Ehh, I've got a whole bunch of stuff on my wishlist, it's just for ideas. I love surprises, so by putting a bunch of stuff there, I have no idea what I'll wind up with ;) If someone sees my list and gets a brilliant idea based on that, but doesn't send me anything on the list, I'll be happy with that!
Don't feel rude about putting something on your list; that's what it's for!

Yay! I'm signed up and ready to go. I've never done this before so I'm guessing we insert our addresses and stuff when the site prompts us to?
I'm putting a whole bunch of stuff on my wishlist, but that's just a suggestion. I'm have tons of interests, and love surprises. I like the "do not want" list too.
I can't wait to see who I get. I sort of hope it's someone I don't know so I can really think about my present.

oh and.. how should i put my name in? i saw there was some confusion. should i use my SN here as my user name or.. what?

Well, someone could have sent you lobster dinner or something. Or a coupon to Red Lobster.
There's a "do not want" list. Which is awesome 'cause I don't like Lush and I don't eat gelatin. LoL

Regarding names and addresses: Put your shipping address (PO box, private mailbox, club addy, etc) in your Elfster profile asap. Be sure you are signing up using the link I sent you via PM. I tend to think it's best if you put your SW handle in your Elfster name somehow, so your Bunny can search your posts for gift ideas. If you want your package addressed to your real name, put that in the address section of your Elfster profile. Only your Bunny will see your address, and once again I encourage you to use a shipping address that is NOT your home.
If you haven't received the PM yet, it means your membership tenure is too short and we respectfully ask that you wait for a future exchange to participate. It was newer, lesser known members who flaked on the last 2, and no one likes to get flaked on.
These newer members have asked to be included in this exchange. I tend to lean toward inclusion but understand the skepticism about unknown members so I'm asking again: Anyone know these members? Or feel ok including them??

I'm just too lazy to keep my tub clean... and I spend the minimal time in the shower 'cause my hair takes like 2 hours to dry.
That.... and -pokepokepokepokes- I can still be a good person and not like Lush. I swear. It's in the Bible somewhere.

It seems some people who've said they signed up, aren't showing up in the list.....
If you plan to join this exchange, and you have signed up on Elfster using any link OTHER than the one I sent via PM, you're in the wrong place! Make sure you sign up using the link I PMed early this morning.
ETA: PLEASE put your SW handle in your Elfster name so I know who's who - I have to know to deal with the international requests!
