I really do mean it when I say I'd rather have something you make rather than something you buy.

I can only imagine what you're going to get now that everyone is discussing this...

I just got THE funniest mental picture of the SW ladies having a clay-painting party at a Color Me Mine or something equally ridiculous... hahhahaa..... wow... stripper scrapbooking? :P

We can start the StripperWeb Quilting Circle!!

That would make an awesome sw meetup someday! I've often joked about painting porn on stuff there just for kicks.

I bet Build a Bear would be hilarious...

Although I already learned the hard way that they frown upon large groups of adults with no children throwing parties in there.

also, how are people saying they already spent over their limit and etc. when no one knows who they got yet?

No kidding. it must be very personalized. ::)

I think some people are just finding cute spring/bunny themed gifts, and they're planning to add to that once they find out. I don't mind, I think it's sweet how excited they already are!!!

I'm picking out more stuffs to add to my list, but even if I get nothing on it, this is so fun :)

yeah, but depending who you get.. i dunno.. i was looking at baskets the other day and then decided to wait so i could make it more personalized.

*fidgets* Is it Saturday yet? I've already seen so much cute stuff, but I didn't want to get it in case I get a boy who doesn't like bunny bath confetti. :( I think I'm way too impatient!

i mean, i know there's only a few guys, but if you're already buying stuff and you're picking gender specific gifts, that won't make any sense. also, not everyone likes the same stuff. it just seems like the point is to try to make it a little more personal. i guess if it's just a basket or some nick-nacks to go along with the actual gifts, that makes more sense.

Yeah pretty much! ^-^ I found the most awesome card that any SWer would love and then I found a couple other things and once I make the draw I'm going to put it all together...the things they want with some eastery things I got. If the person ends up saying they don't want it in their Do Not Want list, I know like 5 girls who really do in person. hahaha. I'll just give it to a friend.

I would totally sign up three times to get three people and give to three people. I already spent over the limit for my bunny already. I had an idea of what I wanted to get them PLUS getting 1-3 things off their list. I have the financial means too. P: But it would be so funny if a few people did that and got another person twice.

I see what you mean-- but in that case, more presents! :D

Feel free-- we need more sign ups anyways.
I figure this will be a Christmas in April (I always wanted to throw a Christmas in July party.) And now that TOO wants handmade items, I'm sure I can do some nifty fingerpaintings for his fridge :D

since I'm signing up for a few gift exchanges I've already put together a couple of nifty packages... obviously if they don't match up to any of the people I've got, then I'll return them--
but really, blame Target. They've got the coolest stuff.

This is why we all need to know what the SW handles are of each person.. do as people did for the Secret Cupid (Valentines) one.. just go thru the past posts and/or threads of the person.. there is bound to be SOMETHING that person has posted that can help you.. besides the fact that you can ask questions anonymously as well.. "what's your favourite colour?" "do you wear jewelry?" "do you have a particular store or brand you like?" etc

No need to panic. It's easier than you think to personalise it.

SassySummer: plus the nice part is that a) you can include gift receipts (although this might not work for internationals) and b) somehow I don't think I'll be stressed if I get a less than stellar gift because it's not like my person is going to know me that well.

I've always loved doing secret santa type stuff, but for some reason I always get a sucky person who digs out crap from their junk drawer and gives it to me.

That's why I'm cool with whatever but I put more than a few ideas AND I'm cool with stuff that doesn't cost very much (cookies, homemade cds and even cool thrift store finds-- though I haven't added that last one to my gift list yet.)

the point isn't money, the point isn't that you get the best gift ever, the point is to have fun and to put energy and thought into it.
so don't stress, or to use the phrase I love a lot "don't borrow trouble."

you'll probably get someone you know loads about.
(and german midget porn never goes amiss :D)

Oooh! If anyone shops at an op shop or thift store for my gifts .. go right ahead! ;D They are a treasure trove of stuff.. I love them. I found yet another dress I can use for Burlesque as well as a few pieces of underwear for work (believe it or not)! Plus two corset-y lingere pieces .. one I wear for work.. the other I will keep for myself to wear casually (as it is able to be passed off as casual wear).

I love checking out thrift stores when I travel-- the shit really is different!

What is wrong with op shop/thrift store underwear ? It's called boiling water + Napisan people. *sigh*

Actually, I got some bras, g-strings, and two corset-y type of lingerie items. They are all good quality, in excellent condition and only add to outfits I already possess.. Like I said, they are a treasure trove! I even found some high quality (excellent condition) matching set of real expensive lingerie ( La Perla ) at an op shop a couple of years ago.

Not everything at an op shop/thrift store is crap. You just have to have a good discerning eye. It's like antique shopping in a way ...

I wasn't saying it was crap... but... g-strings? Really?! Like... that was in someone else's asscrack rubbing on their poopshute, yanno. Just. Underwear. New.

And I totally antique shop and stuff so I know what you mean. But...underwear. Dude.

GoldCoastGirl
02-28-2008, 02:17 AM
I will repeat: Boiling Water and Napisan. I do the same with MY OWN underwear. I religiously make sure any op shop underwear has been soaked within boiling water and napisan then gone thru a complete wash cycle before drying (hopefully) out in the sun before I wear it.

The sun is nature's antibacterial ;)

I don't see where the problem is here. It isn't like I am wearing it as soon as I buy it... or DO you want me to admit to wearing it as soon as I buy it because that is kinky (aka like ebanned) ? ;) :P

Oh btw.. plenty of "feature showgirl" outfits come with "outfit specific" g-strings... and plenty of "complete" feature showgirl outfits are sold "used"... so what is the difference?

Lysondra
02-28-2008, 02:20 AM
The fact you at least know who was wearing it last?

And napisan is a stain remover, not an antibacterial...

April 1 is my birthday (and no, I'm not a fool:P ).

I don't know if I'll be home in time to shop and send though, i guess i could do it from Winterpeg::), in between jams, hah, but I love giving people presents and getting surprises;D

From http://www.vanishstains.com.au/faq.shtml

How is NapiSan OxyAction MAX different to the other NapiSan powders?

NapiSan OxyAction MAX is a more powerful stain remover, due to a higher level of activators and can be used in a variety of ways:

* Added to your wash with your detergent to remove stains from your coloured and white garments.
* As a stain soaker for large stains or to revitalise garments
* Made up as a paste to dial up the power for really tough stains
* Made up as a liquid as an on-the-spot treatment for spills and stains
* Used to remove germs, as an antibacterial soaker

From http://www.about-australia-shop.com/napisan.htm

;D I use Napisan OxyAction MAX only not the 'normal' Napisan.

Lysondra
02-28-2008, 02:40 AM
Um, how about you didn't say Napisan Max and you said Napisan which is NOT an antibacterial (and even says so in the article... how else would 'max' be different then) so I DO know my products.

GoldCoastGirl
02-28-2008, 03:37 AM
Oh.. It's my fault actually as I always refer to the "Pink" OxyAction Max Napisan as just "Napisan" to everyone.. I never ever mean the original. Sometimes I "talk" on this medium just like I do off it.. and thus yeah... I can confuse people. Oh well. Now you know.. so it isn't as "eww" ;)
