You are right...but if you dont know any better and you are bleeding every month..you would think it was, and therefore it wouldnt occur to you that you were pregnant.

I didnt mean it was a real period...I meant that that was how it looked which is why they didnt know.

On a personal level...I've been pregnant once. Up to between 3 and 4 months along(they werent sure). I had a VERY messed up cycle..it was completely normal for me to not get my period for months, then have it for 2 weeks straight. I LOST weight while I was pregnant..12 pounds to be exact, because I didnt want to eat anything(which being a recent ED sufferer wasnt abnormal for me either). I never felt any movement(Dr's werent even sure if the fetus was still alive by the time I terminated)...NOTHING. For MONTHS. The ONLY reason I even took a pregnancy test is to make my bf happy because he had a feeling things werent right. i didnt expect AT ALL for it to be positive...I was completely blindsided.

I guess I'm a bit touchy about this because I had people telling me I must be completely stupid or in extreme denial to not have any clue for that long. Or that I was just lazy and irresponsible for waiting so long to make a decision. Nobody believed me that I honestly didnt have any way of knowing...my body wasnt doing anything out of the ordinary for me.

well, it sounds like your case is a lot different. you weren't 8 or 9 months. Many women loose weight the first trimester, b/c of illness/morning sickness.

I don't think it's abnormal or stupid to not know at 3-4 minths, but at 6+, I think you need to be pretty damn clueless. quickening (fetal movements) are very light at first. Once the baby gets bigger and bigger (say, by the time they're 3+lbs (possibly 20+ weeks/4-5 months) the kicking gets more noticible. Many women do not notice it till that time.

I was bleeding for my first 3 months when I was pregnant. Like when I would get my period .I had a irregular menstrual cycle when I was younger I would get my period for three months and not get it for the other 3 upcoming months or I wouldn't get my period for three months and then only get it one month and not get it the other 3 upcoming months.Does that make sense? I guess at about 4 1/2 I knew I was pregnant or started wondering because I would feel" little rolls" and had noticed that when I would lie down on my back I would see a bump and I never had that before. I went through denial but "knew " I was pregnant . But also kept telling myself that maybe it in my head or something .By the time I was six months I knew for sure I was because of the movement and my tummy felt hard . I never got morning sickness or nothing at my first months or even after.I even took a pregnancy test when I was about six weeks and that came out negative so I didn't think I was pregnant at all . Until of course I started noticing the changes in my body. So yeah I dont understand eighter how a woman can be pregnant for 9 months and not KNOW it . It makes no sense what so ever .

My point is that some women dont ever feel those symptoms. EVER. If you dont feel any movement that feels differant to you then reg gas, you are still bleeding every month, you dont gain more then 3 or 4 pounds, etc...etc....how would you even think to check if you were pregnant? Believe me..it DOES happen.

But honestly..I'm getting tired of repeating myself.

Cam I don't think any of us would say you are stupid for not knowing you are pregnant at 3 or 4 months. And I can believe that you can get that far and experience no symptoms. I wasn't showing until about 6 months, but I had other symptoms. It's just that things get a lot more obvious in the later stages. Even if you have no nausea of swollen tits or whatever, by 9 months how could you not notice (even if you were fat) that your bump has solidified into an enormous balloon? You'd be worried you had a cancerous growth or something if you didn't think you were preggers.

And actually I wold never say anyone was stupid even if they didnt notice until the baby came out... I would just say that they were trying very damn hard NOT to think about all the things that were happening in their body. And that's fine, I've gotten through a few things by trying really damn hard not to think about them. I wouldn't judge anyone

see that's what I think. I think it's only possible if they are unconsciously ignoring the symptoms.

Yes! I understand Cameron. You think your having a period. Than all of sudden you find out your pregnant! Yes there is a differant name for it! But how are you to know you are doing that instead of a period. Unless you know you're pregnant.

I wonder is this why? Doctors ask you if you feel movement.

My friend from work kind of hid her pregnancy in the first 4 months so that she could continue working. she didn't tell anyone and people were beginning to suspect. she eventually got asked to leave. i felt so sorry for her coz her partner left her and she is completely broke now. actually the girls at work and i are all putting in to buy her heaps of supplies for the baby.
