This may not be very modern thinking here, but no pretty young girl should be PAYING to get her 'puter fixed. Go flutter your eyelashes at someone who knows what they're doing, make them a cup of coffee and get them to fix it. It doesn't take that log to reload the operating system. A cup of coffee and your scintillating company ought to cover their time! :)
Ok this is the 3rd time a women on here has suggested this and ya know I honeslty was going to keep my mouth shut BUT I just cant ......that is the most disgusting whorish thing and its what gives women a bad name . I am sorry for saying that because I know that you are trying to be nice as are the first one to suggest it and the one after who agreed with you but ......I just would never do something like that , I find that behavior pathetic . I know your not saying that you do this ...............I am sorry to nice guys who get used like this , just know its not me .:duck:

Seriously. ^^ I'm not all that flirty and I know at least two guys I can ask for free computer help.
Well I have no friends here in florida that can me help me with computer isses and whats wrong with asking some people online , this whole thread is starting to piss me off serisouly . Also why does it have to a man ? I dont rely on men to help me do things and you shouldnt either . A friend is a friend man or women . Anyways all I friggin wanted to know was the opinoon of whether or not my files would be safe , this whole thing is off track and while I very much appericate the posters like Phil who gave me helpful information and rest are just silly . Sometimes I love this site so much and then days like today I swear it reinstills all the reason I quit stripping and reasons I keep my dancing to myself .
Like I want some geek whos trying to get into pants to come and pretend he knows what hes doing and screw thigns up even more only later to be pissed off because he got nothing out of it .........

Some potted explanations for Sindi....
(a) Your hard drive (or C: drive) is where your computer stores the permanent copies of the software and files it uses.
If your hard drive was virtually full, it could be slowing your computer up. However, you have a lot of space on it, so this isn't the problem.
(b) When your computer actually uses the software (or files) it loads them temporarily into the RAM (Randon Access Memory).
Lysondra is suggesting you've only got a limited amount of RAM in your computer, so if you've got a lot of programs, etc, loaded simultaneously, your computer can't work very fast.
(c) The speed at which your computer can carry out calculations on what it's loaded into RAM depends on the Processor.
Your processor appears to be 1.8 gHz, which is not particularly fast. If you're trying to do something that needs a lot of processing power, your computer is not going to be particularly quick.

Which brings us back to your original post.
What exactly was the problem that needs you to send your computer away to be cleaned?
Phil.

Ok , so that wouldnt have happened from day one ? I guess not but I am just asking . What I did today was uninstall alot of unused programs and then I have two ....( I have to check) protection programs I am adding later .....so hopefully that helps , its all free so if it doesnt work I can take it to the dreaded repair shops OR the guy who sold me a moniter when my flat screen died (for the 3rd time) offered to come over and fix it . I like the idea of an in home repair better .....keep an eye on him and learn a few things . Thanks so much Phil I will keep you posted xoxo

Are you sure you were a stripper? Lots of people like to help their friends with computer problems and its easier to do it in person than online. I've helped out a ton of friends and coworkers with their computer issues.
I mentioned finding a nergy, lonely guy because you are almost guaranteed to get quality help. What else are they going to to do...spend money on strippers or sit at home jerking off to our photos in Picture Post.
Is there anything that people do that isn't "whorish?" C'mon, really? You would do it in a second if you knew someone who could help you.
Yawn.

You asked for computer help and then got angry because someone suggested backing up your files or getting a friend to help you? Wow. o.O;
Anyway, Phil is right, your processors and RAM are pretty... subpar. And I'm willing to bet (and don't take this the wrong way) with your lack of knowledge on computers, you unwittingly downloaded something nasty for your computer.
Just because your computer has crap RAM/Processors doesn't mean it would've been slow from day 1. Day 1 it also didn't have anything for you to do. You downloaded things yourself. Your spyware tracker should always be on, your internet would be on now, maybe you have a game of freecell in the background and, I'm even willing to bet CometCursor running. Each one of these things takes your RAM...
Let me explain it easier.... you can remember anything, right? It's easy. But what if someone gave you seven drink orders at the same time? You'd have a hard time memorizing it and you'd be slower to recall it, am I right? Well, your RAM is like this - it's your short term memory. And if you tell it too much to remember, it forgets or messes up or takes a long time to do it.
But anyway, I still say you have a trojan or twenty.

Yes, if your computer had subpar specs it would have been slow from the beginning. I think your ram/cpu are just fine for normal use. Like everyone and you said you probably have some viruses/malware and people have stated to try some spyware programs like spybot, avast. You don't have a lack of empty space problem on your hard disk.
If you really wanted to see if you didnt have enough memory or ram try this program:
http://www.statbar.nl/
If your ram goes over 450 you can buy some more ram which is not too expensive. And all your files will likely fit on 1 DVD, which really is easy to burn.

RAM is pretty cheap... I got all four gigs of mine for $200... and now I have enough RAM to make Midas marvel.

Mind you, my ram is laptop so it was slightly more expensive, too.

My 2 cents, just because I'm an opinionated geek:
I agree with the people who say you need to back up, reformat and reinstall. Yeah, your computer is not top of the line, but if you're not doing anything hardcore with it it should be sufficient, though more RAM definitely wouldn't hurt (my old computer was 1.8GHz and 1Gig of RAM and I could run Illustrator on it with no problems up until the motherboard fizzled out a few weeks ago).
I'd try to find someone who will not only fix the problem but will also let you watch and ask questions. That way you get to learn more about your computer so that it'll be easier next time something goes wrong and with you looking over their shoulder they're hardly going to start snooping through your files.
If you don't know any friendly geeks then is there a source of computer science students near you? I'd be asking around in the COSC department of the University/College/Whatever and finding some enthusiastic student who is willing to help you out for a little pocket money. I know that I would've taken up such an offer when I was a student.

Well we've tried to offer suggestions but you don't seem to be all that interested or motivated to learn. Instead of looking into things, you've basically said "that's too hard! I don't understand!" so we figure that maybe finding someone else to do it would be ideal.
Relying on men and asking them for help are two different things. I guess somehow this got turned into how we are sexist and exemplify the reasons you quit stripping?
Good luck to you. ::)

She said it somewhat more harshly than I would have.
But I will repeat: If you want to be self-reliant, take a class.
If you don't want to be self-reliant, adjust to the idea that you'll need the help of others, and when using the help of others, one can't control every last detail...
I'm speaking from personal experience: I'm shite with cars. Every repair experience I had, back when I owned a car, was an exercise in trying to figure out whether they're cheating me. Big psych-out.
But I could avoid the psych-out if I took a class in car maintenance, and I know it.
Either you're capable, or you're not.
If you're not, you can become capable. Either you want to, or you don't.
If you don't, what's wrong with getting free help?
