I can't believe how oblivious I was to the cliquey-ness. It must have just gone way over my head.

I didn't see it. Was I part of the clique?

I love how I was the one that said I felt most people were being LOOK AT ME... but I didn't mean TRT.

I liked to read it. It didn't require a lot of umph or brain, so I did it every AM with my soda.

^ i dont think it was cliquey at all. but of course thats because i guess i was part of it? ::) i think there's a group of people who regularly posted in there.. that doesnt make it a clique. it just means we posted more than most.. just like some people make most of their posts in SG or something.. that doesnt make it a clique.

and cally's comment about how everyone else got ignored.. dont know if its in this thread or was in the drama thread.. that isnt true. every post there wasnt MEANT to be responded to. it was a place for random thoughts. so how were people being ignored?

Samba

I never thought the TRT was cliquey. I never really made a point of reading it, though. I would click on the last page, read that, and post whatever random thing I felt like saying.

Don't be sad. The Random Thread is in a better place now.

maybe some people dont understand thats why some of us LIKED posting there. we could post a thought and it would be buried and gone in a day or so. it was more of an outlet than a place to get feedback. if it was an issue you wanted feedback on you shouldve started a thread on that topic.

if i pigged out and felt gross, instead of thinking to myself over and over "wow i ate like a pig" i could type it up and bam its out of my head. you know, like people say journaling is good for you and stuff. but it doesnt mean i wanted anybody else's thoughts about what i said. i personally used it to clear my head a lot of times and wasnt looking for feedback. regardless of whether you guys think i was part of the "clique."

When I first came to SW and checked out the member boards...read the instructions there, that's what I thought THEY were for....Little groups of members who just wanted to chat amongst themselves...cliques.

I don't see any reason why that couldn't happen there. have a little cliquefest :)

hmm. i think it really sucks that you feel that way. i think thats true in general, though. sometimes if no one responds to what i say in a thread, that sucks.. but i dont really take it personally.. but i see what youre saying and i think that happens, period, not just there.

Just to play devil's advocate...

I had the most posts of anybody in that thread, and I was very rarely responded to. When I wanted attention, I started threads.

thats what im saying.. there were times i'd post something and then go to bed and by the time i checked again it was 10 pages deeper.. so i didnt even SEE if people responded to me and i didnt care because if i were looking for a response i wouldve gone about it a different way. i think that often times people missed a lot of posts because they were gone for a few hours and 5 pages popped up, so they didnt even read it. it was hard to go back and look for things.

haha, kind of related, but like when someone DID respond to me, i felt stupid making another post just to say "lol" or whatever. you know? like when LJ said she was really a 12 year old boy with missing balls.. i laughed.. but i didnt make a post about it just for a smiley face or something because i had nothing else to say and i wasnt feeling creative that day.

I think some posts in TRT got missed or over looked (as opposed to ignored) because TRT just moved so fast. I posted there a fair bit and some of the posts got no responses whilst others didnt.

Seriously! I read every single post in TRT, but since I was gone for like 18 hours because of sleep/work, sometimes it made no sense to respond since it was already discussed and over with by the time I got around to reading it!

NO. This is not the new random thread. There will not be a new random thread.

This thread is just to pay our respects to TRT.

If we stray off topic, it will likely get closed like the others.

I will miss the random thread, it was like chat only you didn't have to stay there....

On the other hand, TRT was a really valuable thread. It was sorta like chat, except slower. It allowed people to share what was going on in their daily lives and have some fun with it. For me, it was like catching up quickly on peoples' lives. I think it will be sorely missed.

.

I have to agree, and it will be missed. I think in the end it was also spreading faster than it could be handled. Sometimes 10 pages would pass in a day, maybe more. I never really kept track but it did move at a rapid pace.

The random thread, also ate a lot of threads that would just die due to lack of replies. If your thread bombs in the lounge, it does not take that long for it to be swept under by the amount of new threads/posts.

Have fun people. Take care of yourself and each-other.

Without TRT, it will be much harder for my boyfriend to stalk me. He'll actually have to open and read multiple threads instead of just one. All that extra work might make his brain explode! :D

The TV show Cops is good for that too. At first I thought the whole random thread thread got deleted, and people would lose their post count.

Me too. I'm not in Noo Jerz but I liked it.
It let me be all stalkerish without anyone catching on. Cliques? Drama? Ignoring? Pshaw... we're all adults. Can't we act like them? Just a little?
;)

I do feel a little bad it was sucking up so much bandwith or whatever though.

Two words: Member Boards...

I keed, I keed. ;)

My thought exactly.

I can't believe how oblivious I was to the cliquey-ness. It must have just gone way over my head.

Yeah mine too. And that's a 6 foot in the air head, here.

At the risk of being redundant, I maintain my opinion that if there was a symptom of a problem in Random (e.g. cliqueiness, people feeling like their posts are overlooked, trolls), then it will manifest throughout the entire forum. Random was one location. I see several people who post threads that get maybe one or two replies. I've done it myself. If people don't respond, they don't respond. Likewise with cliques--they'll threadjack and  and offer cookies and whatever on any thread on the forum. And trolls are definitely not limited to a location.

I still feel that closing Random was addressing symptoms, not a problem. I predict that we will continue to see the same issues, hear the same complaints about "this isn't like how it used to be," and people will come and people will go. But there will be more (banal) threads to come and go on.
