Either way I could care less about Jades signature. I was just using it as an example of one of the things that was 'offending'(thats not even the right word).

How could posting about a silly cookie clatch be offensive? I mean really..if you are offended by cookies..you need to re-evaluate your issues!!!

Us Aussies gang up on people? WTF... we're now an Australian Internet Gang?

You should get matching bandannas!

Is it wrong that I'm not having a fantasy about hot Aussies ganging up on me??

true, but stereotypically, south australians - the only australian state settled by independent british settlers rather than convicts, hate their victorian convict settled neighbours, so if we're bringing nonsensical geographical rivalries into this, technically i should be picking on jaizaine if anything.

Hehe. I found this amusing for some reason. And it makes me feel like I learned something despite the fact that the thread was just a bunch of yelling a minute ago.

I think I have a right to vent. I think anyone has a right to vent, to be saracstic, bitchy, and peeved...

You have a right to vent, of course--but no right to be sarcastic or bitchy to others, not here on SW...

I wasn't being mean to jaizaine... if anythying ganging up on me (since when is Key West part of Australia anyway?) won't solve the problem.

Sarcasm is a tool I often use when I write on here. Are we supposed to write straight forward boring stuff without style and sass? Why then do we have the eyeroll icon??? ::)

I was bitching at the fabled trolls that got TRT taken away from us all. And I was being sarcastic at some people's need for attention. Inferring that it's all about Jai is Darcy's problem... She went batshit psycho on me for complaining about the baddies that ruined the random thread in the first place. Sorry... I didn't know I was supposed to be nice to trolls. LOL.

Now I have points from some random mod...

We should be able to vote for Mods.

velvet

TM is a new mod. not "random"
we did vote for mod's, before you were a member. pryce personally chose TM for the position, i think he as the owner is allowed to do that.

Sophia_Starina

Oddd... never noticed she was a mod. But she isn't assigned to this board...so.... still.... getting points from a Mod I did nothing to is random.

The site is set up so mods can point anywhere.

The flag has been thrown, the penalty's been assessed, and now let's all move on so the flags can stay in the pocket. Appeals can be made to Pryce or Tashia. There's no other recourse for feeling wronged by a mod. Attempts to use the "public court" is not how the site is set up and will only result in more penalties.

Pleaee, let's move on.

Can't it be set up that two out of three mods must agree before action is taken. I shouldn't have to appeal every single outburst that a mod has with me. It would be too time consuming.

People not getting my humor shouldn't = punishment.

By the SW logic all British Comedians would be condemned!!!

Did people get that joke? No? Should I expect to get more points?

Pleaee, let's move on.

Seconded. This thread was meant to mourn the passing of what was once a great part of SW. Nothing more. I didn't intend for this thread to devolve into a debate about mod power, cliques, or other b.s. Leave it be and remember the good times of TRT.

Okay I'm going to move on... to a question about why I'm being threatened all of a sudden.....

Answering some Q&A is mod duty, through and through... but using thinly veiled threats. Wow.

No. I'm sorry, Sophia, but you can understand that would seriously hamper us in an ability to... you know... do stuff. The Random Thread is gone; we are all well aware of how much some people miss it. The decision to shut it down was not a whim by a slap happy mod. While nobody intends to start policing the Member Boards - it is not a receptacle for inappropriately handling mod issues just because it is not the Lounge.

You are not being "threatened". You are being warned. You are aware that this board is moderated, and that "points" are how we perform disciplinary action. We all like you; nobody wants an escalating conflict with you. This is not a personal issue or vendetta. But we need this issue to die; there are lots of interesting threads; it is not necessary to belabour this one to be entertained here.

ETA: please, please, please - we are not trying to promote blindness either. If you have a concern that you were wrongly pointed just message the "pointing mod" and nicely ask. They will (nicely) explain, and if there was a misunderstanding, everyone will know how it arose. The points may not be removed - particularly if they don't result in limiting site use - but we are interested in transparency and we want you guys to feel like we are listening. We just don't want to divert the site into justifying every point we issue, you know? If you have concerns about why the Random Thread was shut down, go on ahead and PM.

cameron_keys
03-27-2008, 02:19 PM
Not to cause trouble..but I thought the point of the member boards was that is was NOT moderated. Nobody ups their post count by posting there and nobody gets pointed there either. Am I wrong? I thought the point of moving sensitive topics to member boards was to keep any fighting out of the other boards and people arguing between themselves couldnt up their post count doing it...?? Now I'm confused

The site guidelines still apply to member boards. That is to say that no one can come in member boards and disregard the guidelines. We still want this section to be a helpful part of the site not a dumping ground or free for all. Hope that helps.

Ok..so people can still get pointed and banned and such for things that go on in member boards? It just doesnt up your post count and I assume, things have to get worse then most other moderated boards for anything to be done.I get it.

I dont read member boards a lot so I never really thought about it.

03-27-2008, 02:38 PM
Okay, this is just strange to me. I always thought member boards was called 'the wild west' for a reason. I've never, ever heard of anyone being pointed here. Is this a new thing since TRT was closed and lots of peeps are flocking here to avoid being censored?

If it's like every other part of the site, why has it never been moderated (until now apparently) and your post count doesn't go up? Not trying to be argumentative, just curious.

Jenny

I know I'll be kissing ass from now on.I don't think that is necessary; before I was "modified" I never kissed a single ass (that I remember) and I never received a single point - and I know for damn sure it is not because all the mods were so in love with me.

Your points will expire Sophia! There are other threads. We can all love again. ;)

Cam - think of it this way: if we don't want it in the Lounge (e.g. politics) it belongs in Member Boards; if we don't want it at all (e.g. mishandling mod issues, racial slurs, etc.) it doesn't.
We have traditionally not enforced name calling except in very specific kinds of cases. That may be changing now.

Jay Zeno
03-27-2008, 02:44 PM
To add on to Jenny:

Imagine a spammer comes to Member Boards to promote Cialis-laced g-strings. Or some new troll attack that fills up the first page with nonsense. You would want the mods to clear out that action, yes?

But someone wants to start posting a number of threads saying, "I think Schwarzenegger is a horse's ass." Well, you might get annoyed, because how many times can they say the same thing, but you don't want it moderated, because it's Member Boards.

Well, somewhere in there is the defining line. And even the Wild West had sheriffs and marshalls. If a violation of site guidelines gets too far out of whack, you can expect mod action and a general tightening down to keep a modicum of order.

Either way I could care less about Jades signature. I was just using it as an example of one of the things that was 'offending'(thats not even the right word).

Like I said I could care less. I have so many friends on here. Im just speaking for those who didn't want to speak up.

Im not on SW much anymore anyway and I could care less if im part of a 'clique'. I have a lot of friends from here and I love them all dearly.

I think its great that people here have formed bonds and friendships. I mean after all thats what this is for.

Yea, there is some asinine stuff going on with moderation on any message board. Often, threads are closed when there's the littlest bit of conflict but people are making valid points or points are handed out inconsistently. It isn't perfect, but I think the mods should err on the side of absent. People will self-regulate.

You have obviously read the rest of this thread. So you realize that it is not the case here and you are giving the wrong advice. So why don't you not do that. To be perfectly clear: any further discussion of moderator issues in this thread will be pointed. Regardless of what jester tells you. If you have a grave moderator concern, the appropriate way of dealing with it has been elaborately detailed more than once.

Thank you.

Sorry... the masses have spoken.

Not like thats going to get TRT back anyway. I think I have a right to vent. I think anyone has a right to vent, to be saracstic, bitchy, and peeved at the fact that some apparent n00b nobodies, trolls, and lameasses who are hypersensitive to people ignoring their (most likely) inane BS got a fun thread taken down.

Its that the trolls WERE NOT ignored that got the TRT taken away. And this thread is next to go since folks cant fucking play nice here.

The moderators and others (including the OP, I believe) that this thread is only for mourning the Random Thread, which has been locked for reasons well-documented elsewhere.

Another thing I miss about the Random Thread? I miss the time Lysondra started The Random Thread orgy. Yeah. That was awesome. Lysondra worked very hard (virtually (I assume)) to make sure everyone who wanted to be included and was present, was in fact included. She's the bestest virtual orgy organizer ever. I miss that.

And it was spontaneous. It's not like there was a specific "let's describe an orgy" thread. That would be kinda boring, and then months later new members would resurrect it and everyone else would be "Oh, that's such an old thread" and stuff and stuff.

Yeah. I miss that.
