I'm a label whore but not a logo whore.
That's the best way to sum it up!

It all depends. I dont have the money to buy all Prada or Longchamp. I suppose if I was rich i might but the fact is I am not. I also enjoy my 20 dollar t shirts.

$20 for a t-shirt?? That's a little too pricey to me. :)

The only label on any of my stuff is Ducati. My leathers are all diff. brands (RevIt, Alpinestars, Icon) but other than those 4, I don't own a goddamn thing with a label. Fuck yeah. So I guess the only labels I'm comfortable flashing are moto-labels.

You know what, I have to come back and say that I don't have a problem with paying for actual quality. There are these $80 t-shirts (https://secure.stewartbrown.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=MWEST-T51HENS69S6&Product_Code=16011&Category_Code=O_KNITS) that are worth every penny and then some, and I am addicted to them. buuuuuut a lot of labels (specifically the LVMH group) just do not live up to the standards their price sets.
So. I do believe you get what you pay for when it comes to clothing and shoes. Up to a point. Beyond that point you are paying for the label.

If I had money to burn I would have a ton of Chanel bags, jewelry and glasses. I just love those CC's! But I don't, so I just buy what I can.
Clothing is different because you can find inexpensive stuff that looks good. No matter what store I go in I'm browsing the sale rack...sometimes I'll get lucky sometimes I won't. I won't hestitate to buy full price if I love the item though.

i dislike being someones walking advertisement. i think large or excessive visible logos are tacky. i don't normally buy expensive designer stuff anyway. i'd rather use the money on things for my home or experiencing new places/things.
also, i think everyone has the right to spend their money on whatever they want. i just don't personally feel right spending a certain amount on some things. there gets to be a point where i think it's just excessive (which i guess is the point) and i would feel guilty spending, say, thousands of dollars on a purse.
that being said, i will admit to sometimes feeling a bit of longing for one or two "really nice" things. most of the time when i see a girl wearing something i really like, and i can tell it was expensive, it winds up being cavalli.

No labels for me. Once in a while I succumb to the label whore in me, but I always regret it. I have a LV damier wallet and I get embarrassed every time I take it out because I feel like a chump for spending that much money on it.
I don't care if my jeans have a label. I hate having a designer's name on my ass, the less conspicuous the better.

I'm with RoseWhite. I don't like labels/logos from LV down to Old Navy or gap.
I could careless if someone else wants to wear it, but I feel so silly in it. I don't mind the little embroidered animals on the chest like an eagle or moose or whatever too much, but again I'd prefer it without.
Doesn't designer brand stuff go out of style? I remember people talking about not wearing a bag any more because it was way out of style. What good is quality if in a year or two it's going to be all out-dated and tacky among the designer crowd?

Watch out for the Chanel glasses. Bought mom and myself a pair about 5 or 6 years ago and they were such pieces of crap. The screws kept loosening up and having to be re-tightened. After a while I quit taking them to the jewelry shop and just started doing it myself. Then the lenses started to get these little hairline cracks near the edge. Neither pair lasted past a year.
I bought a pair of Calvin Klein's last year that I paid $2-300 less for and they are doing great. They didn't come with their own fancy case like the Chanels did but neither mom nor I have had a problem.

My chanel sunglasses broke after about 8 months! snaped right in half for no reason.
anyway i love expensive clothes, labels dont matter.
I usually avoid logos at all costs, unless its on an accessory like glasses or a purse, not plastered across a sweater. Tacky

I like a lot of label stuff, but I also wear non-designer things. I'm not big on huge logos usually. Like recently when I was looking for sunglasses some of them were just too much. The logo was just a little too big.

Damn, I keep hearing bad things about Chanel sunglasses. My Chanel eyeglasses have kept together well and my Gucci sunglasses are going on 5 years now.

OOoh I'm with you. I like the subtle brand. I wear the shit because it's NICE not because it's Dior or Gucci... but a little G or the horsebit signature or the little bitty 'dior' cut out of the leather on the toes does it for me...
Just something to go 'fuck you bitch these shoes are $600.... but I don't brag about it'. hahaha.
lol I'm exactly the same way.

i love logos, but certain ones. and im not the type to spend a huge amount of cash on one item...so i really have to LOVE it or someone else buys it for me, or it's on sale.
as for jeans. i do believe in spending a good chunk of change on a pair, becuz im really picky about a good pair of jeans, and i'll get good use outta them.
for a dress i'll probably only wear once, i won't spend alot on.
purses im in the middle, if i absolutely love it i'll buy it, but if it's too much, it's too much.
and im not one for wearing logo's in big letters on a tshirt, it's a lil highschool for me.

I love designer brands, but I can go without the logos that "shout" out the designer name. Squigglies on the pockets of jeans or small tags stating the name brand are okay for me, though.
Love quality...no big logos for me though. One thing about high end items, I dont think people understand is that you get the service with that item. Example: my gucci shoes 600$ but I can take them to Gucci to get cleaned or free. If the heel thingy wears off, they will replace it etc.. no matter how long I've had the shoes. I've had this one pair for 31/2 years and they look like i just bought them.

I'm not that into logos, but I'm a designer lover. Most of my designer peices have a story behind them, usually bought in my travels which makes them extra special. I love high quality leather (and yet I don't eat meat).
I don't feel guilty for buying designer wardrobe staples, like jeans and jackets. I always wear a nice watch (I love my Bvlgari) and a nice purse and wallet.
I buy midrange shoes because I'm a clutz and really hard on shoes, but I still always buy high quality leather. I seem to buy most of my shoes from Mollini. If I'm not going out anywhere I just wear havianas.
With the exception of a couple of Versace dresses, the bulk of my wardrobe is pretty much disposible clothes, or cheaper local designer stuff. I <3 cheap summer dresses.

Certain items must be designer, high quality beautifully made:
- shoes
- bags
- jeans
Other items I will be chain store and cheaper items.
I would rather buy one pair of beautiful hand made designer shoes a year than have 1000 pairs of cheap, shitty shoes.

I can be, lol.
But then again I am just as apt to be seen in a t shirt and shorts and flops, lol.
But I have NO qualms about having a good quality hand bag and at least 1 pair of good quality shoes.
As for jeans, I hardly wear them, so I am cool with whatever brand fits best and won't look dated in a year or 2.
Mostly I wear yoga style pants (like from Aero) and t shirts.

Depends. Coach is really the only 'designer' brand I have (purse wise). I only like the 'C' logo on small stuff, like my wristlets. I do have a purse with the 'C's, but it's not so blatent (and was a limited edition, lol) I personally think LV is ugly (just my opinion!)
I like nice, name brand things, but I also like cheap stuff. I've got a pair of Seven's and Rock&Republic, and a pair of jeans I got at a boutique for 25 bucks. It just depends what it is.
Right now I'm saving up for Ed Hardy jeans & a shirt, a BCBG dress, and MAC makeup. Oh oh oh, and a tiffany's necklace, lol.8)

I'm curious what everyone's ideas are of what amount is "cheap" and what is "expensive". Hmmm... It's all relative, yanno?

Well, for me, for brand new items, I see a cheap purse as <$50 and not made out of leather.
For brand new jeans, I don't even know? I can't come up with a figure.
The problem here is that the only thing I buy brand new is makeup. I buy 90% of my clothing and accessories used in second hand stores, Craigslist, or ebay.
Shoes I have a tendency to buy on Steve Madden clearance.
So my views of "expensive" are skewed. I usually spend about $75 on a pair of jeans, 7s, Rock Republic, Joes, J Brand, whatever.
I usually spend about $200 for a coach and $500 for a LV.
So to me, anything significantly less than that for the same item is 'cheap.'

It depends. I blew a pretty penny on a pair of designer sunglasses (Versace, then exchanged them for Dior after a jewel fell out after 6 months... thanks, Nordstrom!) but other than that I'm more interested in the quality. I prefer buying locally produced clothing/accessories, but I wouldn't turn down a quality accessory.
I read a book several months ago called 'Deluxe: How Luxury Lost Its Luster' that showed how the quality of production on a lot of designer labels (LV being the biggest offender, Chanel the least [out of the big houses]) has been sacrificed for bigger runs, production in china, etc. It was written by the fashion editor of Time magazine and it opened my eyes a lot.

LOL, I just got a pair of prada sunglasses.
I'm a Burberry whore. My SD just bought me a fucking $1000 trenchcoat :)

Burberry has some nice coats. I bought a scarf and a pair of gloves from Burberry not long ago and it was over $500. I was like wtf! But they are really nice and classic and I'll use them forever.

IMO cheap is stuff like from walmart, target, stuff like that.
average is old navy, aero, abercrombie, gap, etc..
expensive is ed hardy, bcbg, dkny, michael kors, coach, dooney, some LV
Crazy insane is Versace, Hermes, cartier, etc...
Oh and no matter what, brand new or from the goodwill, it's still in the same classification to me.

Well, it depends. My Coach bag doesn't have all the Cs all over it, simply b/c I don't think it looks pretty. I like LV's better.
Certain things must be designer for me, like purses and jeans. The rest I'm not really concerned about. If you have expensive accessories paired with an inexpensive outfit, it brings the whole ensemble up.

Speaking of logos losing their luster. Watch out if your a Coach whore, as I used to be. Their hardware designer lives 2 houses down from me (really he does, he has been their main designer for over 20 years).
At a party we attended last summer he was talking about how the quality of construction and materials has really plummeted over the last few years. They are using cheap labor from China now. He has to fly over every season to train the metalworkers over there how to form the pieces he designs.
I haven't bought Coach since, and won't again. Their pricing has went up so much I can get a Burberry for not much more anyway.

no. it's stupid. I buy clothes from free people, lucky and anthropologie once in a blue moon, and only during the sales because I like their designs and they're extremely well made and last forever- but there's no logo on them and they don't really look expensive, just put together and they fit my style. That is the most expensive I will go though, most of my clothes are hand me downs/ups, free, handmade, goodwill/thrift or borrowed.
I think labels look stupid. I think spending over 200 on any item of clothing besides performance athletic wear (shoes, coats, etc) is ridiculous.

LOL, I just got a pair of prada sunglasses.
I must say I'm a big Gucci sunnies fan :) I'll easily spend $350 on a pair of Gucci sunglasses.
It all depends for me.
When it comes to a good pair of jeans or a wardrobe stable, I'll pay $200-$300. Then I'll buy dresses and jackets or tops that are vintage or second hand that cost me less than $10 to mix it up.
If I like something expensive I'll buy it. On that note, I hardly ever like anything, so much so that I almost never get new clothes and mine end up looking all ratty and torn like bag lady clothes and I still wear them. i rarely like anything, but I have also been told (in a joking way) that I have no sense for fashion. What can I say, I was a tomboy most of my life.

I like to mix and match cheap or thrift store finds with occasional expensive Nordstrom's purchases (mostly shoes or well made jackets/sweaters). I mostly care about quality and little details in my clothing. I think that speaks mountains more for being well dressed than being decked head to toe in designer logos. In fact, I can't help but giggle when I see someone covered in Bebe, LV, Coach, etc crap.
Ironically the few things I have that you can see logos on I bought at TJ Maxx. I didn't buy them for the logos either but just because they fit well and were nicely made. My Kate Spade sunglasses are an example of this but even then the name is tiny on the side.

Yep. I completely agree. This is so me as well.
I must admit though I do like a little subtle hint of a designer. Like a small, shiny LV logo or something that doesn't stand out but it a subtle way of saying, "Yes, these are expensive and I own them". hehe

If something is obviously designer I'd rather have it be obvious because of a certain trademark or detail....like Missoni fabric, jean pockets, or sunglasses shape. I can understand wanting to make it obvious that you are wearing designer clothing. What I can't understand is why logos and names are on things, that just is tacky imo. Designs can be so much cuter when they aren't limited by having a repeated LV or C.
I'm particularly drooling over a pair of Valentino sungless atm at Nordstroms Rack. I've never seen quite anything like them and they are marked down to $60 (which I still think is ridiculous for glasses) from several hundred. Its very, very obvious that they are high end from how they are made but they are the weirdest/ coolest tan color/shape.
