ok- i say now. but in a seperate thread please, so those who don't want to know can still check in here with out it being revealed to them.
if you don't want to know and also cannot control yourself from clicking the thread anyhow, you need to learn some self control! :P

I concur on the seperate thread issue on the table.

^ I say separate thread in members only. Lord knows I can't enjoy another exchange if as much shit goes down after this one as went down after the last one.

Good point. Too much drama.

^ I think you are perfectly safe with me out of the exchange.
If there is drama in the woods and nobody to hear it, did it piss anybody off?
Lola Rose
04-23-2008, 08:06 AM
I don't think it needs to be in member boards. I've never thought that really helps elliminate drama.
I think it belongs in the lounge, otherwise a lot of people won't even see it.
All Good Things
04-23-2008, 08:08 AM
^ Yes, it belongs in the lounge.
Honestly, the only drama you will have is the faux-drama people create for fun.
Lola Rose
04-23-2008, 08:11 AM
I agree too.
and really, drama didn't stop many people from participating in this one. Of course TOO was left out, but at least we still got to have it.
I think whatever dumb "faux-drama" people stir up won't stop future exchanges.

^ Well, I wasn't "left out," I voluntarily withdrew. Explicity for the purpose of eliminating, or at least dramatically reducing, the level of drama and to make them less inflammatory and more likely to be sanctioned to continue in the future.

I know, but it pretty much seems the same. The end result is the same. :-[

Gee! And here was I thinking that by pulling out you were drawing attention to yourself and inviting more drama. I had this silly idea that it would be possible to just send one moderately priced but carefully considered present like everybody else! :P

What the hell did I miss from the last exchange?! Ima guess TOO went overboard on present giving?! ;D Did you buy your person a Benz?! Bad boy!
If you dont want to feel left out you can just send me a present anytime, ya know, benz beemer condo in the bahamas... whatever - and not tell me when so its a surprise!

The drama level in this exchange is zero, so something must have worked as I anticipated. :)
I think the last poll on the subject indicated that the majority intend to go overboard on their level of spending. So much for "moderately priced." It's become somewhat of a tradition, I'm happy to say, particularly with wrapping and presentation. And I'd be the last person to stand in the way of a fine tradition like that!

It is pretty hard to put together a decent pressie, esp with shipping, for 30 dollars. I'm not planning on going bat-shit-crazy, but I will probably drop like 50-75 bucks + shipping. From the reveals thread last time,I'm pretty sure that was average.
That said, I am not very creative. If you are, you can probably put together a kick ass present for 15 bucks lol!!
Lola Rose

I'm so glad the drama is being kept out of this exchange. lets keep it that way everyone.
Lysondra

I thought the thirty was BEFORE shipping. :/
Lysondra
04-24-2008, 03:00 AM
I know everybody goes over the $30, which is why I said "moderately priced" rather than "cheap".
I certainly won't be getting a decent present together and shipping from NZ for that little, but if I go over $100 I'll feel that I'm not playing by the rules.
Is over $100 not playing by the rules? :x
It's just so freaking easy to spend $100 in Australia on stuff for people. I had to get a bunch of small paper things sent to me for one of my gifters and it was $40 just for those. :/
Lola Rose
04-24-2008, 05:19 AM
I think everyone is doing fine, you do need to take into acct what things cost where you are. like, in nyc- you could spend 10$ and look like you spent a lot more. Australia is the opposite, from what I've read,
Lysondra
04-24-2008, 05:22 AM
It is if you want quality. There's a lot of cheap things but they look it. D: Which is why I refuse to shop at touristy places and get my wallyrus a kangaroo plushie or anything. They just LOOK so cheap. (even though I went to Australian Geographic to get Colette a game like 'barrel of monkies' made of kangaroos)
And I trytry to take my wallyruses stuff to consideration and get just that perfect thing.
It sucks because I found the PERFECT present for one of my kits the other day and they don't ship to Australia. ::)

Hey Lola.....you've got a flaker in your exchange.
Sunshine73
04-24-2008, 08:18 AM
I'm spending over $100. It just added up that way.
ajbaer
04-24-2008, 09:36 AM
Mine's adding up that way too. ^^^
There was a minimum, but no max. I think if you want/can spend more that's fantastic, but if not there's no hard feelings. If all I got was $30 in stickers, I'd still be happy that someone thought about me. It's about giving and having fun with it, not the amount you spend.
And as someone mentioned before, some people are great at shopping for sale items. You can easily spend $50 on something that may have totaled more than $100. So people (and you walrus) might think you've spent more, when you didn't.
Money is all relative...it's about the joy of shopping, receiving, and thankfulness.
Lysondra
04-24-2008, 09:40 AM
^that note, a lot of the things I got for one of my walrii look cheaper than they are... but they're very rare. I hope they understand :(
ajbaer
04-24-2008, 09:45 AM
I'm sure they will :) You're a really caring and thoughtful person, who always puts creativity into the mix. If they can't be thankful for the thought (no matter who the gifter is) they didn't enter for the real spirit of the exchange (the last line of what I typed above).

I can't believe ya'll are doing another exchange when girls are ditching SW left and right. I hope it goes well, I know exchanges are fun when everyone does their part.

I personally think this is keeping some people here, it lightens up the drama, and it's FUN!
I'm willing to bet this exchange will be more successful then the past ones, as well.
Rhiannon

True---and even one who's left SW (B), is still doing the exchange. So even if some leave, they still like to have fun with things like this.

Got some cute things for my walrus (bucket?) today. Unfortunately no buckets involved, I'll see what I can do about that. Yay, is it too early to send it out?

It is fun. The stuff I want to give to my buckit is starting to arrive at my house, and it is shaping up into a nice bukkit indeed!
I'm excited to give this package!

I'm having a blast with it. I'm a little obsessed with it in fact :/
I need a bukkit support group. I think there's a walrus pic of one..wonder how I sign up?

My thing for my bucket came today! Yay!
Also, I don't think I'm actually going to send a bucket. I mean, is my person really going to have a use for a colored plastic bucket? I think I'd rather save the money on that and shipping and send something useful instead.
