it was brought to my attention that international shipping can be around 25$ PLUS a lot more, and I just wanted to let people know it's really not fair to buy a 5$ gift b/cyou're shipping internationally, and it's expensive. At the same time, no one has to ship internationally, so please pm me if you're not comfortable with that added expense.
I think a 20$ GIFT minimum is more acceptable for international gifters, so no one really sort of gets cheated. Again, this is sugguested retail value, so if you get great sales, or make things yourself, you could definatly spend less then that.
I know it's not about the prezzie completely, but it does matter. I'd be sad if someone only got me a little (cute however) trinket, b/c of the shipping costs.
But if they gave me that same trinket, and a mix cd of songs they burnt just for me, a crafty something they made (lets say a headband), maybe a cute little printed out booklet of recipes they thought I'd like... I'd be head over heals stoked, b/c it showed how much they thought it out, even tho they didn't spend a lot, b/c those things take time to make, which is just as valuable, if not more so, then money.

^ Also int'l shipping is not that expensive if you plan in advance. Just send a week or two early. To Canada a big box sent 2 weeks early is around $5-10, and to NZ and Aus surface is pretty cheap if you send surface (3-4 weeks is quoted, but usually way less, because they don't actually put the packages on a freakin' boat, lol). My xmas box to NZ was $14, and it was pretty big.
I'm going to be off the continent and incomunicado from June 15 onwards, so can't participate in this one :(

ok, thanks for the info :D
so int'l shippers, plan in advance!!!!!
The exchange is before the 15th of june, btw. Do you mean some other date?

I agree in re international shipping... it is cheap if you do it in advance.
Me on the other hand likes to spend $70AUD in total including shipping as i like the 'security' of sending express. lol.
Besides i'm being devious and claiming as a business expense. hahaha
Whoever is [name] on the Elfster list ... YOU NEED TO CHANGE IT TO YOUR SW HANDLE! Yes only people on the Elfster list can see your whole real name however it would be very helpful (and best for you) if you put your SW handle there instead please.

Bridgette was really helpful with the last exchange. Just a brief run down of it all:
Elfster will only show your mailing address to the person who draws your name. If you're concerned about giving out your home address, you can use a mailbox service or post office box. Post office boxes are cheap.
International: speaking for Americans, USPS Global Priority Mail is only a little more expensive than regular Priority Mail, and it's not difficult to send. Go to the post office, fill out a short form, pay, and that's it. It's easy. However if anyone doesn't want international, please say so and we'll make it happen.
There's a "Do not need" section in the wishlist. Fill it out for anything you don't want.
In the wishlist section, put anything you like, preferably with links, but you can also just list stuff like fave colors, interests, hobbies and such with no links.
If anyone wants to send something to someone specific, do it via PMs. No special requests, except if you aren't willing to ship international.
Signed up people: you should specifically make sure your sign-up name is same as/similar to your SW name so that your [bucket] knows who [as you are the walrus] you are!

can you try not to involve the elfster list too much over here. I'll pm anyone that they need to change it.
thank you.
the exchange is a private thing, so I'm going to ask everyone not to quote what people say on the elfster list. if you wanna share a funny video or w/ev- go for it, but please don't do that.
it is against the rules, and rude.
the rules need to be followed if people want to stay in the exchange.

YAY!! I just made a riciculously long wish list that I think covers everything. food, socks, candy, lush....
But I also wanted to say I'm totally cool with recieveing something not on my list that was just picked out at random. I'm not picky, and I would love whatever I got!
I'm really happy and excited to be a part of this exchange!

Most of what I sent my bunny was NOT on her wishlist. I followed loosely, by getting girly scents that she said she liked, and I DID get her some sour candies just so she knew I actually read the wishlist... but other than that I thought it would be fun to just surprise my bunneh...
