View Full Version : "I WORK for MY money"

Why do people have this idea that this is not hard work and we don't deserve to be compensated for our services?
Because we are so good at what we do that we make it look easy ad fun. When we let everyone know how hard the job of stripper is, they don't tip us because we "suck" or have a crappy attitude.
this is a no win situation.

Someone said this to me last night,
"Wouldn't you rather do a job that's more taxing?'
I looked at my bf and he looked scared, he said, "Mate, you just said the worst thing you could possibly ever say." He's seen the wrath of PK before.
"Taxing? You think I should do something that is more taxing than being a stripper?
Do you think I just prance about in my undies picking my nose while guys throw money at me?"
I won't bore you with the whole tirade but you get the point. I don't think he's gonna be asking any strippers that again.

Can't think of any particular quotes verbatim but I get this a lot. Fuck, I just pulled a 12 hour shift the other day and I still can't move my arm and I have a ridiculous number of bruises which I then have the pleasure of attempting to explain to PLs that they are from this (hard) job, not from the abusive pimp that you get off on thinking I have. And I broke my third shoe in my mere six months of dancing. Yeah, it's SO easy.
No job is as easy as it looks.

Funny how people resent us for "not working for it." I never hear that said about day-traders, professional athletes, rockstars, etc.
I shoulda learned to play the guitar
I shoulda learned to play them drums
Look at that mama, she got it stickin' in the camera
Man we could have some fun
And he's up there, what's that? Hawaiian noises?
Bangin' on the bongoes like a chimpanzee
That ain't workin' that's the way you do it
Get your money for nothin' get your chicks for free
We gotta install microwave ovens
Custom kitchen deliveries
We gotta move these refrigerators
We gotta move these colour TV's, Lord
Now that ain't workin' that's the way you do it
You play the guitar on the MTV
That ain't workin' that's the way you do it
Money for nothin' and your chicks for free
Money for nothin' and chicks for free

If I ever get this answer, I like to suggest to the person that they strut around in 4-inch heels (the smaller ones I own!) for 6 or 7 hours while doing stage work like we do each time they called up... then make sure they see how many dances they can get and make sure each and every customer is happy with what they're paying me $35 a song for without breaking club rules. THEN check to see that they can pay house fee and DJ tip-out whie bringing home money at 5am on a Saturday because management won't let them leave until close because there are still customers and many of the girls have already left! LOL

i just laugh when i hear people whining about how "it's not a real job."
I hate when I hear that too :)
One thing I love about this business is Job Security, there will always be a demand for this type of industry, if fact I believe as years go on it will become even larger and more society accepted, the laws will become more lax and clubs will become as common as a Mcdonalds on every corner. Its what I love about the little slice of it that I do, knowing that there will always be a need for a Dj/Show Host (Or in the future at least someone to program the computers and talk...lol)
It is sad to see that some many people take what the Performers do is not work, it is very physicaly demanding and the emotional stress is very high, that sounds like work to me. I have to agree with the earlier poster that said that it is made to "look" easy by the talent or ability of the Performers, but It isnt by any stretch. I sure as hell wouldn't want to do it, and just as I wouldnt want to be told what I do isnt work, I sure as hell wouldnt tell the perfomers the same. Hell ANY job is work, just because we are not lifting trees into a truck or building a house dosent make it any less work.
And dont listen to asshats like the one who sent you that email, there will always be fools :)

... and then we won't make any money.
I disagree on security. I mean yeah there is demand for clubs and most areas have at least one, but you never know when you're going to go through a dry spell. Lots of threads bitching about how the money was around christmas time, lots of girls not even bothering to work. Seems to be picking up, thank god. Can't wait for tax refunds and stimulus checks to come through and hopefully it'll be back to business as usual.

Ugh, I hate this. It's usually the young guys who say this to me. They say shit like "Come on, this job isn't work. You get to sit around and drink and only have to actually work 10 minutes out of every hour when you're up on stage." They think going up on stage is the only "work" part and the rest of the time is just partying and fun. Yeah, because every guy that we try to convince to buy a lap dance from us is great and enjoyable to talk to! ::)

True, But anyone who has been in this business for many years knows that it is very up and down, the reason IMO we are all bitching these days (myself included) is we are paying 3.50/gal of gas, food, housing etc etc are all high priced as hell the last 2-3 years, which means custies are not as willing to just walk into the clubs and fork it over as easily. Thats why we see so many girls falling prey to the "extras" because custies are becoming more demanding of what they get for their "buck" so to speak.
But alas it wont last forever, I am in my 16th year of this, and there have been a few dry spells along the way, but guys still come in regardless and the clubs will still be able to stay open, unfortunatly the dancers will suffer and have to work longer shifts or more shifts to make the money they used to make in half the time. It would be nice to someday have consistancy in this business as far as money goes, but the sex industry is the oldest profession and will always exist.
Although as a Dj, I may disagree with the occasional girl when it comes to the "Dj Fee" issue at times, I have ALOT of respect for what the average dancer has to endure in just one shift, again I sure as hell wouldnt do it..lol.
Keep up the good fight :)

I got some random email from someone concerning this post and since you have no problems telling me your views and don't want to hear any response since you don't take emails from anyone not your friends, here is my response email
"If you don't want to pay for it, then please do not come into a strip club. And I can't really take someone seriously who says I am wasting my time when you are surfing Stripperweb which you have no part of the community and contacting members about things you know nothing about. I didn't really read your email, just skimmed through it so anything else you wrote, I'm not commenting on since you are just trying to get a rise out of me. This is pure ignorance at its best. What was the point of contacting me? Are you one of those men who can't get a girl to talk to you and expect us to volunteer our time and now I'm going to change my whole life and just get naked randomly and talk to you because I feel bad that you can't get a decent converstation out of someone?"
Original message
"I see you are in the Stripperweb CULT to the point where your views have imploded to match that of everyone else there.

You write this:
"If people don't want to pay for entertainment, then they need to stay at home or find something else to do. It really annoys me when I'm at work, dancing and people ask me "What do you do for a living?""
What you do is NOT work. It is partying for tips at best and quasi-prostitution at worst, and if you haven't noticed, men are exiting as customers in droves, leaving you with the low-quaity men and chumps who still part with large amounts of money in return for NOTHING. I'm sure you like getting money from those men, but enjoy it until they wise up, as StripperWeb is educating a lot of men on why we should never set foot in the clubs.
Your existence is going to take up most of your youth in the sex industry, in places you probably won't enjoy having for memories when you're older. You can power-trip and earn and some people will value you because of your youth and beauty, but I think you're missing a much larger picture. "
Grow some balls. If you can dish it, you should be able to take it.
He does have one thing right, a lot of girls DO do the same things we do for FREE and for fun. They're the reason why guys like the one messaging you are bitter that some of us charge for it.

I had a guy say that to me once. I just grinned and said, "That's great, I work for your money too!" He actually tipped me a five but left the club shortly thereafter without spending anything else. Oh well.
I'm stealing that line. So much easier than getting upset about it.

My mother died last July. The post about her, which you chimed in to repeat, is clear harassment directed at me.
Anonymous internet harassment or even "annoyance" is a felony under 47 USC Section 223(h). Punishable by up to two years in federal prison.
If anyone ever did this to you, you wouldn't hesitate to call the police, and neither do I. Any club you ever dance at will be on my boycott list. Some have seen what was done to my mother and offered to fire, on the spot, any dancer linked to it. Clubs that don't do this risk lawsuits for harassing the public.
Pleae stop what you are doing. Now."

Don't worry. He's a pathetic little man with zero power and credibility. He doesn't scare ANYONE. He's about as scary as the Haunted Mansion at Disney. He's going to piss off the wrong person someday and they are going to find him and murder him. HIS address and real name are on the internet, not ours.
My First Amendment rights give me all the license in the world to scream atop the mountains, make flyers, host a radio show, and proudly proclaim "RAY GORDON IS A WASTE OF CUM AND I HOPE HE DIES IN A HORRIFIC WAY"
Seriously, his mother should not have broken from her MO and swallowed instead of conceiving him.

Didn't someone very smart and famous once say "if you work a job you love then you will never work a day in your life" ?
My last job was a horticulturalist. I loved every minute of it. Does that mean working in the hot sun and rain isn't work? The job before that I rode horses, I laughed every second to know that people paid me to do something that I would have willingly paid to do myself. For me, dancing is just the same.
People who complain about my job not being work are absolutely correct, I love what I do and would never ever sell my soul for money doing something I dislike. Earning an income shouldn't be hard work. People who do are idiots.

And people wonder why we're angry people! LOL...I don't like that show either, it's one of many who've made this business more of a novelty than anything else...It's like okay, this movie portrays dancers this way and these shows say this, but none are really flattering and detract from the "fantasy" that we are trying to create, the dream that's slowly a nightmare for those trying to make a living!:-\

My opinion.... I'm sure these men envy us.... To the FULLEST! Most men would LOVE to make hundreds of dollars a night for dancing and flirting with women. Unfortunately for them, they dont have that advatage we do. And as far as Tyra banks.... Modeling is pretty much along the lines of stripping... We both get paid for our good looks and nice body right? She gets paid to take pics in her bra and underwear and I'm sure the same dirty old men we dance for oogle at her so whats so different? Screw her!
