I'm on another board where someone was celebrated for hiting a 50,000 post count. From my viewpoint the majority of those posts were a version of "hot" repeated over and over and over.
Oh god, that should be a bannable offense, lol. Seriously, there should be a post quota--you get so many per day and can't go over. When you're posting 15-30 times a day its an indication of a larger problem. You'd think that taking your clothes off for money would fulfill someone's need for attention, but there are some people who look for it anywhere and everywhere they can. They make it so you can't ignore them even if you try.
And a European board I just left would ban people for spamming a thread with the words "I agree" and such. They were pretty draconian about it.
I like the sound of this other board of yours, haha. Is it Something Awful? They ban the hell out of people for lots of little reasons. I think its hilarious.

I don't understand how one person could make it impossible to ignore them even if you tried. I mean, there is an ignore button. So I'm confused, do you mean even if you ignore them, people still reply to them so you can't ignore them....or...what?
And many people post here frequently for various reasons. Sickness, boredom, antisocialness, etc. Doesn't mean they have a problem. I don't see how it's attention seeking to talk to people on an online forum.

Jeez, most of my post was joking, tongue-in-cheek, ya know? I guess I need to put a dozen smilies on my posts so that my tone can't be misinterpreted.:D
I do think there are people who seem to be crying out for attention. Is it a problem? I don't know. There are lots of reasons behind the things people do.

This poster was over 300 posts. Some of them were just rolling conversations, so they could hit 50 posts easy. I am not that glib. I post and run.
It was an MMORPG fun server board. Geek stuff. They had several traffic cops and you would routinely get spanked and have your threads moved to the correct part of the board. I could never figure it out. You could get banned for swearing, come back under another login and then get your IP address or subnet banned. People would flame each other all the time that the other person was in violation of the board rules and should be banned. End result was very few posts, it seemed more like a morgue than a community.

one thing i've noticed in my very, very, very, very long time on the internet is that people come to a place online regular and feel very secure there, even though the content is world-viewable. and then they feel violated when some random person views that content. a lot of the drama in SW could be sidestepped if that issue was dealt with.
I agree completely. I wish SW was more private, at least some areas!
For example, other boards have about half and half public/private areas. Some other boards even require a one day new user authorization!
I think we should consider implementing some of these ideas here.
so you've had 2000 posts of fluff, and 500 of advice? ;)
yeah, sounds about right!

Yeah, me too. I get fed up with stuff sometimes and need a break, but I reckon I'm like SW built-in furniture. For better or worse. heh
Long live The MCWMistress! :cow:
I took a break for a couple years, but I came back. It'd be weird to leave. There were about 50-100 members when I joined. Someone has to watch over all you n00bs! :P
When the drama and insults start flinging my way, I just post less. None of the people who annoy me are going to react positively to a PM, no matter how well-phrased. In fact, it'd only serve as more fuel with which to burn me.
Farewell Katrine; you may have called me: "evolutionary cannon fodder, unfit for procreation," but who else could be trusted to be so honest, no matter how brutal the results? No one.

oh.. my god. usually the drama dies down after a few days.. but this is going on a few weeks.
and can i just ask why it's ok for people to be doing this? a biiig thing with the random thread was that we posted "ugh i dont like somebody but i'm not saying who" and that wasn't ok. so why is it ok to say "ugh somebody does this and it annoys me and i wish they would leave, but i wont say who it is"?

This is a VERY good idea. I think that if the forum had more privacy/restriction on non-members or even members with low post count (say just the Stripping related forums, definitely not Picture Post), we would see a sharp decrease in people who end up deleting their profiles/changing their screen names due to security reasons. As many times as you can say "THIS IS A PUBLIC FORUM DO NOT POST INFORMATION YOU AREN'T COMFORTABLE WITH THE WORLD KNOWING," it's really just words until it happens to you and you're terrified for your safety.
Also, on my other forum it is possible to edit posts as far back as you've been a member. I think enabling that feature would be an additional help to people who have "poster's remorse" and wish that they hadn't said something revealing longer than a week ago.

I think the difference is, this thread was more about "I don't like it when people do certain things." Not "I don't like a certain person." The latter is infinitely more personal and has an entirely different ring to it. ;)

well, if you want to get technical about it, this thread is saying "i don't like when certain people do certain things." "i wish some people (the "babystrippers") would leave." that's no different.

Honestly..the only real solution is that everyone needs to get the fuck over themselves. Trying to dictate what other people are allowed to say and feel is ridiculous...seriously..who the hell do we think we are?? If you dont like what someone has to say ..ignore them. Simple as that.
Sadly there are always going to be attention whores and drama queens who try to stir everything up.I'm not calling anyone out by name so dont ask. If you are one of them....you know who you are and thats that.
The current "drama" is just that...there is no real problem. The only problem is that people wont STFU and realize that not everyone thinks the exact same way they do. Be adults...pull up your big girl panties and deal with it.
Want to send me hate mail and argue with me..go ahead. Be my first. I dont care anymore. This has gotten dammed insane. I feel like I'm in the middle of a kindergarten class for christs sake "Moderatorrrs.....they are looking at me funny..make them stoooooooooooooppppppppp"
Knock it the fuck off already. You arent impressing anyone....
Nobody's getting hate mail. That's just attention seekers pretending somebody cares about them.
All I get is love mail on here and I say some of the most inflammatory stuff.
If anybody would get hate mail, I'd probably be a prime candidate.
All the PMs I get are requests for sex, commentary on funny posts I make, or people asking for directions in San Diego

The only way to stop this would be to immediately close threads when the drama llama rears its ugly head. NO "please stop" no "come on guys..play nice"..nada.
let them take the drama to PM's. Maybe not having a public outlet will stop them

^ Sh0t, it won't work. I'm not forwarding the nastygrams to you.
You got a summary in the other thread. That's going to have to keep you entertained. There is a reason they are called "private," even when less than polite or downright hostile.
As you've noted yourself, I should have expected this to happen. "If I spread bread around on here," were your exact words, I think.
It's so unlike you to have PM envy. You are way too popular for that, you know?

Actually, when anyone makes this forum more like an online-dating site and less like the haven for dancers that it was intended to be, it be bothers me. Notice I said IT bothers me, not them. Yes, many of the very young girls, or babystrippers, seem to be the ones that do this to extreme. No, I do not want them all to leave, but if it comes to them leaving, or some of my fav members, who I find interesting, quirky and intelligent and have been enjoying conversations with for years, no contest.

ok.. without getting testy in my response.. i think that this outlook is unfair. just because someone has been here longer than someone else does not make it THEIR site and they do not get to dictate how it is run or how others act. thats just as bad as people being mean to newbies. there shouldnt be any sort of "i've been here longer than you so i say what happens" going on. if long standing members choose to leave because of newer people, well, thats too bad. that would be like if newer people came on and said "ew! this site sucks! i dont like the way you guys act around here!" then, as has been said before, the site would never grow.

Oh please. People are leaving because they dont want to deal with petty BS anymore. And thats what needs to stop. I never said I was the only one allowed to have an opinion..in fact if you had read it correctly I said the EXACT OPPOSITE.
In fact..by stating that the petty crap has been making people uncomfortable for awhile you are agreeing with what I said. Why you feel the need to twist it is beyond me.
And telling me to CLIQUE my way out of this thread is EXACTLY the petty drama that needs to stop. This isnt grade school...the moderators shouldnt HAVE to police this site to keep the drama and pettiness at bay. As the reasonably intelligent adults most of us are...we should be able to do that on our own.
If you have nothing else to say but to bash me again and twist my words..please feel free to take your own advice and click out of the thead.
bash on though...thats what always happens and what most of here are trying to stop.
