Britt, there is SO much that is not "out there."SO much. So it's not even close to something "I always do." :)
Anyway, like I said to B., if she considers that to be a form of "bragging," then it's something I can change.
I'm not participating in the gift exchanges anyway, but maybe any extra gifting must strictly be off the boards. I actually tried that in 5 cases, BTW, STRICTLY off the board, and it still became known. I really did try.
We learn and move forward, I guess...
This! This right here is what everyone is talking about. You are subtly bragging again about how much money and/or gifts you give. :O

even if youre not putting 99% of it out there, obviously the 1% you are is enough to rile people up. and again, i'm not sure that anyone wants you to stop participating. you keep talking about changing your behavior but this behavior looks like that of a spoiled child. "well, i can't do it MY way, so i won't do it at all!" you know?
and if youre giving things to people who let it get out there, maybe they shouldnt have been the recipients of any help to begin with. hell, if someone was giving me handouts, i wouldnt go bragging about it and get them yelled at. i think, deep down, whether they admit it or not, they WANT others to know that they got something super duper oh so special from you. talk about the type of person who doesnt deserve anything.. as one of them did in another thread ::)

Changes have already begun to be phased in behind the scenes. I know many people are quicker to action then myself, but I am cautious and plan before I step. I won't give a date - as then I'll only have to deal with threads around that should I miss it, but know that most of the changes requested here are about to see the light of day.
I'm sorry, but this is what you've been saying for YEARS now. And when it doesn't happen, you always say, "Well, I'm really busy in my life...hectic..." etc. For years, you've promised to get C&R up and running. It's not happened. You've promised to have an online donation system going...hasn't happened.
And, I'm sorry again, but taking 7 months to upgrade someone's account isn't "a bit longer". Especially if you've already cashed those funds. So, you had enough time to cash the funds (which requires a car ride to the bank) but you didn't have enough time to take a minute or two to click a button to upgrade the account. THAT was the problem. You've been offered help from just about everyone on this site...and you've turned it all down.
You've made promises that you've not kept.
You say the same thing over and over, "Changes are coming, they're in the works..." and nothing ever happens.
Maybe there are a bunch of changes going on behind the scenes, but even when I was a mod...I didn't see anything.
You have people who want to donate money, right now, and you're not giving any options. Just, "Well, we have a fundraiser...just wait until the fundraiser." which has been getting touted for almost a year now...and still...nothing.
Do you see the frustration?

^ The reason I have stopped participating -- and I think this is the 4,000th time I've said this -- is that I felt it important to eliminate all possibility of drama so that there was no risk that the exchanges would be eliminated, which was under discussion in another thread.

It is spent digging through the waste produced by SW and trying to prevent it from getting out of control. I've already colored the situation from my side as best as I can. If it not jealousy then what IS it?
Sorry but all I see is a bunch of people being pissed off demanding things from someone that is giving them stuff for FREE anyway!
If people don't like TOO then IGNORE him, simple!
If people don't like the broken shit on this site, suck it up and ignore it, or leave.
You really can't complain about a sandwich being pb&j and you wanted ham, if it's free.
Honestly, Pryce doesn't have to give us ANYTHING, it's HIS site, if he wanted to pull the plug tomorrow, I would be bummed, but not mad cause it's his. Sure I'm upset that the club reviews are broken, but I deal with it, cause if he wants it fixed, he will fix it.

No. It's not jealousy. It's the feeling that SW is turning into a big club where certain people are hustling all the time. It's not *that* hard to ignore the members who are doing it, but it is consistantly annoying, and I do feel it has changed the character of the site somewhat.
Also, I really wish Clubs and Reviews worked, although I've been using the work-around for years and am used to it now.
Also, I would gladly, gladly give money to this site if it meant it would be the community that it was when I joined.
There is still a lot of good in this site, though. OK, I've said what I have to say. I'm out.

Oh. My. God.
This is fucking retarded.
Yea a lot of us get annoyed by TOO flaunting his gift giving.
At the same time though would we not all be bragging if a regular bought us fancy stuff?
If you don't like what TOO posts, ignore him. Simple as that.
Next off.... Really I think SW is at the point where it would be way better as a paid site.
Or maybe even leave part of it public and have a separate area for paid members?
One of the many reasons im losing interest in SW is the simple fact it gets hit hard with trolls and dramatic bitches and people who have no connection to the industry at all.
Also as for Pryce. Hes one person... he had a lot of personal issues going on in life. Obviously SW will take a back burner time to time. We all get annoyed there is shit that doesn't work but hey at least we have the forum.
Hopefully the changes we've been promised for the last few years come soon.

Fuck, B, I hope this site changes enough for you to only take temporary leave. You're one amazing woman and it would be a huge loss. You're a mentor, a model to newer strippers, yours were many of the posts I read when I first got on this site about how to be successful and make it in this industry... not to mention your character and chutzpah is inspiring. Please don't leave permanently. Hopefully the cries will be heard to take this site down to basics and make other necessary changes to retain some of its best contributors.

hmm. well, i may be bashed (lets be honest - not may be, but probably will be) for saying this, but... how can you, pryce, choose mods personally? nothing against those youve recently made into moderators, but youre not here. you ignored a TON of people saying they'd love cameron as a mod, but then out of nowhere there are new purple names on our screens. that just doesnt make sense to me. how can you know who would or wouldnt be a good mod when you arent around (admittedly)? i cant imagine youre here often enough to tell.
Saying "you're not here" is a mischaracterization. I am not here in the lounge. I'm not everywhere at once. No one can be, but I am in daily contact with members of the site to discuss going ons on the site. I am also working on more tools to give me fingers into the pulse of the community. The best I can do is survey, allow messages to be escalated up to me, use trusted members as representatives, and peek into each corner every once in a while.

VG, you can either choose to believe me or not. That simple. I have kept every promise and you have no idea how much effort it takes for the things you demand. Perhaps my reality is busier than yours. I do not know. I am trying to balance my health, my family, my relationship, my job, future advancement, my friends, a clean home. If you get that all done and have more time to drive to the bank and post office often, more power to you. I need it to be automated.
From my view you are asking for things at both extremes. I can't give you both.
I believe I can do this, I believe I have the support to do so, and I believe the site is ready for it (if not a giant understatement). If I wasn't, I wouldn't be here.

I lurked here for about 1.5 years before I even registered (which I finally did last July). I just recently started posting, but having lurked in the shadows for over 2 years now, I have a general sense of what happened with TOO's gift-giving.
Granted, I wouldn't have gone around bragging like some did about the nice gifts they received, but I don't know why there was such an uproar when such bragging occured. IMO, TOO has shown extreme generosity toward SW members through his sponsorship of the board and through his gifts. If this is bothersome to certain members, ignore him, ignore the girls bragging about their gifts, whatever...

These are spurious arguments that you've spun into facts. Watch me do the same.
Fact: Your dramatic threads have ushered in the dramatic behavior, now commonly accepted from all members played a role. Your gossip has contributed to members leaving, rumors being spread, and general backstabbing.
Is that not true as well? The complete truth is that StripperWeb is a product of ALL of us. I do, however, believe it is ultimately my responsibility to clean it up.
Fact: I have contributed more to StripperWeb than you have.
Well that is a matter of opinion isn't it.
Fact: I have turned down help from many who would have abused the site and the member-base.
Again, another true statement. That doesn't mean that everyone who has offered help has had mal-intent, but I believe the great majority did. I have been very selective in my choosing of help and I believe that to be of benefit to the site. That said, I am opening up broader as of late to test the waters to see if it works.
As for your "N'UFF SAID", I'd argue we've also seen what has happened under your control.

I don't think opinions expressed in a civil manner should be censored.
The problem is there is no point in expressing or discussing these sort of issue in a thread.
The entire population is not represented - only the vocal minority.
It is unclear as to who shares the same concerns and who is just jumping into the fray.
They typically degrade into argument or fluffy posting - making it difficult to identify real issues.
That is why I am promoting use of the aforementioned survey (my aim is to have it public by next Monday). I want feedback (consider this thread was left open), but for it to be productive it has to come through a channel that makes the information accessible, it must provide a complete picture, and the issues should clearly identified. Then appropriate action can be taken. A riot does not solve the underlying root issues.
pinkpvc
04-07-2008, 02:33 PM
But without another outlet for those issues presently, a thread seems to be the only way to get individual opinions out there.
I welcome the introduction of a survey.
-EDIT- just wanted to emphasise my call for civil posts, as some people do lack tact, as do people from all walks of life. Without this threads will degenrate into riots.

OK now I'm getting a bit peeved. I realize that you have another life but if you can't handle that, then it would be better for you AND us to pass the torch. I realize it's your site and all but I just found a quote from Susan Wayward from July 07 that "according to pryce" Clubs and reviews would be fixed within a couple months.
HOW long have they not worked? How many people have bitched about it? it's clear that it's just not happening. I have a really hard time believing that fixing some retarded links would be all that difficult. If you don't want to I'm sure TOO and others would be quick to donate money to have someone else do it.
Yeah, automated would be nice. But it's like being lost in the woods in bad weather and not building a lean to and a campfire because you want a freaking mansion.
On top of that they are really outdated (just looked at my town, Foxxes doesn't exist and Cheetahs and Presleys weren't listed, don't remember if Ladonnas was). I just tried to add Presley's and an error came up. What a surprise.
Of all the issues this is probably THE most irritating. Please make it a priority!! Or donations, if it's necessary to make them a priority in order to make C&R a priority.

Although Bridgette listed other, equally valid reasons as to why she is leaving, she did name names and specified how these people have irked her. I think it's perfectly fair that these people be permitted to respond without being attacked for simply responding.

well.. why do you have to do it ever? even if you think it's really rare.. why do it at all? and i'm asking honestly here, what makes you want to put that out there? is it so people know that option is there? because i think everyone does...:-\
There were a couple of cases where I put information out on the board in the spirit of fun and playfulness (remember when we had those?) that should have gone into PMs.
Despite the fact that many of the people posting in this thread apparently think of me as a shameless braggart -- a characteristic of somebody completely devoid of class, I might add -- I would like to point out that I provided sustaining financial support for this site -- just to keep it alive -- completely and totally anonymously for nearly two years. I never said a single word about it in public, ever. Pryce finally broke the story in his Vegas I SW thread. I never did.
So there is a pretty good history of being able to sustain anonymity.
Pryce
04-07-2008, 02:56 PM
You've identified the issue yourself. While complaining it is "just a few links" you also acknowledged that info is outdated. There are serious problems with the entire system. It requires a complete rewrite. What is up is your campfire. I could just as easily take it offline. However with a greasemonkey script, the system hobbles along till it gets the love it needs. I think that is the preferable option.
But if you want it to truly function here's what it will really take. First the entire site must be moved to a new server that runs PHP 5 and a fresher version of MySQL (which I mentioned previously is the step we're taking this week - I have already negotiated it and paid). Next we have to update the forum software. A development environment needs to be created so we can bring a team in to work on it without risking your privacy and the stability of the live site. Next the frontend needs to be repaired so you can access clubs. Then a complete backend must be created - the old one died many vBulletin versions ago - so additions can be made, approved, etc. Once testing is complete, then help will have to be recruited and trained on how to use the system and maintain it.
That's without any upgrades - just to get it running (and an end to complaints saying "oh, but it's so easy").
Pryce

As an addon, at this time I'm considering an off-the-shelf product that integrates with vBulletin, so its developers will be responsible for updates - not us - to avoid this issue in the future. However, that means that we will have a system that is more generic and I have to choose a company that will not go under in the next few years. I have to evaluate what is currently on the market.

TOO, why in all the time you've been on here have you ignored every single thing I've ever posted in this thread and in the past? Standard treatment for the non ass-kissing club, or am I just not in the cool club that PM's you constantly?
I just responded to a comment of yours farther up this page, I think.
I only average about 1.3 posts a day on the site. Like I said earlier, I've been on the site for coming up on four years and I've not even reached 2,000 posts yet. So there are many, many people who I have not responded to or whose posts I've not commented on, probably because I had nothing intelligent to say, or they had already covered the topic beautifully.
If you asked me a direct question and I didn't answer, then obviously I didn't see it. I hope you don't take offense at my missing it.

Thank you for explaining that all, Pryce. I don't think we all knew what needed to be done. I look forward to that survey!

No. It's not jealousy. It's the feeling that SW is turning into a big club where certain people are hustling all the time. It's not *that* hard to ignore the members who are doing it, but it is consistantly annoying, and I do feel it has changed the character of the site somewhat.
QFT.
And another thing, what's with the damn 'you must enter 5 characters' pop up? Isn't four enough???

I suppose it depends on your definition of easy.
To me the site migration, software updates and creation of a developement environment are easy, only because i have experience of doing it before.
As for the clubs and reviews section, because i have only limited experience of php it would be challenging, but not impossible, alone.
You seem like a man with many commitments, i can understand you do not have the time required to do it solo, thus the need to bring in teams to carry it out for you. And i enjoy learning by doing so grasp chances to go it alone when i can.
To me thats where it gets challenging trying to ensure they have a good understanding of the requirements and keep you informed. Thats where i have to agree taking on some randoms from the forum for help is not such a wise decision as there is generally no way of telling their previous experience, and expertise in such areas as requirements capture, programming skills, and general ability not to do stupid things :P
Anyway its nice for me to get a glimpse into a plan, as the changes planned have only been described in very vague terms before.
