I'd like to mention just a couple of things:

I danced in the 80's (when dinosaurs roamed for some of you...:) honestly,it wasn't yet "mainstream" for us all,me included at this point, to have had the "help" of BA's,lipo, and all the rest...it's mainstream now.

Many of the dancers then were "real women" and that meant imperfections.Lighting, costumes, and the fact that things weren't so "over the top" in terms of acceptance by men,ie,the sometimes "unrealistic standards" of "perfection" were just coming into play, girls with a few extra curves and flaws WERE the norm! Not so much overweight, just a LOT less in shape than currently...

Also...I once met a young woman at an event who was NOT "small" by any standards, but her physical beauty and the way she seduced men and women with every part of her was electric. She went on to "seduce" a billionaire and the name she was known by was "Anna Nicole"....trust me: when she was young, dancing, and even when she was in Playboy the first time,"curvy" was an understatement and I thought she was GORGEOUS as did many others.

I think to some extent the perception of society in terms of "acceptable standards of beauty" has greatly changed.

.

I am so jealous. I always wanted to meet Anna Nicole. She seemed like she'd be so fun to hang out with. When she was a Guess model and Playboy Playmate she was so gorgeous- not super skinny but not overweight by any means.

Oohdamnbaby, please don't be discouraged from dancing... 135 isn't anywhere close to obese. The OP was talking about obese strippers. I'm sure you look great.

Yeah, I just saw your pics. There's nothing wrong with your body! There are girls much bigger than you who aren't obese making plenty of money.

Triple L, I am not trying to be rude here, but I have noticed lots of angry posts from you lately. Might be time to switch clubs or take a break or something?

ditto this.

oohdamnbaby, this thread doesn't apply to you. you shouldn't have any trouble getting hired and making money. even if the other girls don't like your body, who cares, it's not like they're going to be buying dances from you.

I did very well as a cam girl and have been asked by many dancer friends why I haven't started dancing yet - it's just a personal thing right now, I guess. I've had a rough last year and am not confident enough to be naked in front of tons of men again just yet.

If the standards at the club drop considerably, the customers are going to complain, and fewer are going to choose that particular club. This is not a controversial idea! It's just how it goes.

I know people have different tastes. BUT. Can we not agree that there is SOME degree of objectivity when it comes comparing stripper-looks? I'm not skinny, but there is a huge difference between 'thicker dancer', and 300lb dancer. Obese dancers do, in fact, drive away customers, more than not. Why is this an offensive idea to anyone?

That's not to say that an obese woman = a bad person, just an less than ideal stripper-body. C'est la vie, ya know?

I just want to say that I am a thicker dancer, in fact probably one of the biggest girls in my club and I do not take offense to this thread. Why? Because I'm not OBESE!! There's a big difference between "big" or "thick" and OBESE. I have curves, not rolls. I work out and put alot of time and effort into my appearance and my look and it shows. I don't think L^3 was referring to girls like me, and I find this thread very entertaining.

Carry on!!

How do truly obese women even get hired as strippers?

Sophia_Starina

Ehhh... call me a chubby chaser. I am surprised that there aren't more Heavy dancers out there. I see all this plus size lingerie on Flirt catalog and what not but I never saw a girl that was Rubenesque dancing in a strip club.

Maybe it's the NYC mindset that keeps the chubby girls out of the club. But I for one can appreciate a woman that is thick, thick, thick.

Because for many clubs, more dancers = more $$ in housefees, so they will often hire anybody who walks in.

lizlizliz
04-10-2008, 12:19 PM
The club makes money off of every girl that walks in the door.
When biz gets a lil slow, they begin to get lax with the standards cuz all they see when they see a girl come in to work is $.

This is how the cycle begins.

I guess they weren't as big when they got hired? I've never worked with an obese dancer. Maybe they're related to the manager?

I'm a thick girl and men love it that I'm not anorexic or bulemic.

There's quite a middle ground between anorexic and obese. I'm glad my club doesn't allow big big girls to work. For instance, the other night a girl auditioned who was waaay too big for our club. She was about 5'4 and maybe 170. Her massive thighs were rubbing together and she had cellulite and a huge gunt.

I don't think the club should feel obligated to hire her just because a small percentage of men find that sort of thing sexy. The rest of us are tight, toned, and looking good. Why should clubs make an exception for girls who can't be bothered to keep in shape? They drive down the standards and make a bad impression on the men who come in to see girls in the 7-10 range.

I dunno if that was a typo or intended,.... either way, I'm adopting "gunt" (a gut that goes down to, or covers your cunt) into my personal vocab!

I'm 5'9" 165 or so pounds, and wear around a 12-14. I always get compliments from men who don't like the rail thin look and want a chick with some meat on her bones. And I'm definately not fat!

I've worked clubs where big girls seriously bank, but I've also worked clubs where big girls will make guys leave. If a girl appeals to the clientelle of the club and can make her $ without resorting to extras, thats all that should matter, imo. Lid for every pot.

I've worked in a club that had a 300lb (or somewhere close to it) 'dancer'. She was so big she had to wear 3 bras. I saw her getting dances every once in a while. It was a nude club but she kept her outfit on.
Come to think of it, she never got on stage...but at that place none of us had to unless we wanted to.
I would've tipped her if she did some polework though- that would've been awesome!

Moet if you read this, you should remember who I am talking about!

It's really ridiculous that it's politically incorrect to point out someone's weight problem.

To me, pointing out someone's weight problem (whether they're too skinny, too fat, whatever) is not so much politically incorrect as it is rude. Maybe if these girls were asking for your opinions, but if they're not, why point it out?

I work at an escort agency myself and our top earner is the biggest girl we have. She doesn't offer full service like a lot of the girls, it's more just charm and a pretty face I think.

I don't really know why a club would hire a super obese stripper but I suppose another house fee is another house fee...I guess they must be making decent money to be able to pay it?

Also, the word gunt is cracking me up. :P

I never said people should be ultra thin, I said they should be healthy. I was trying to point out that I am one of the thicker girls, and I don't think anyone has said anything negative about a girl being thick. We're talking fat, not curves. Big difference.

I don't think I would mind a few really fat girls at my club. We don't have any obese chicks at all, but they cater to a clientele that wouldn't look in my direction anyway, not to mention to most guys they make me look hotter.

Thick girls on the other hand... those are competition. *licks lips*

this thread has been interesting. (excuse me while I hijack it for a second)

I still have a few self esteem problems (but then who doesn't) but I'm working on them. I think what's keeping me from dancing is the same doubts as ODB - people tell me I'm hot, but often I don't believe it (sometimes I do, then mirrors get all sweaty and sticky as I try to get into my own pants.. ok, jk) so yeah...

But having seem some measurements and stuff on here I don't seem to be so unusual - like, I work out 5 or 6 days a week, eat pretty healthily (like no junk really, the odd munch on cereal or whatever) and take care of myself. I'm no stick (I tend to be told I look 'fit' or brazilian) at 35-28-40 and 5'8 but I think I look ok...Wish my waist was a bit smaller though...

OK, hijack over.

To the OP - seriously? If you have that much of an issue with it, why not tell her. I'm sure it would be far more productive and then you could have it all out in the open - *sarcasm* (also, she'd probably break you in half) You don't have to watch her, she's probably not stealing any custies from you, and yes, chances are it makes you look far, far hotter. So quit ripping her up and get on with it...

*shrug* ok I probably shouldn't be giving advice already, but there ya go :)

Glamazon
04-10-2008, 07:43 PM
Personally, I want the chicks that I work with to be smokin' hot. That's what keeps the custies around! I can see why the OP doesn't like working with really, really fat chicks. Guys don't go to mainstream strip clubs to see that shit!!

The club I work at has high standards. If an obese girl auditioned, they prolly would not hire her. Unless she could dance and was otherwise pretty. Shit, I've seen them turn away girls who were slender ...but their personalities seemed off, they couldn't dance, or they just seemed weird or unstable. Which is cool, b/c who wants to work w/ a bunch of crackpots? Been there, done that. No thanks.

There is a girl at my club who has been there for a while. She was in the "fat" category, but recently lost some weight. She still teeters btw. being fat and thick. But she is gorgeous, she wears sexy costumes, and she dances beautifully. And, thanks to her big ole booty, she banks.

I like working in a club that has high standards, but the odd "fat" woman doesn't bother me. I'm too focused on what I'm doing to care who the fat girl is, who the fit one is, who the skinny one is...but if the club had no standards and let anyone dance there, I'd probably find a club where there were hotter girls. ..they motivate me to keep in good shape!!

I worked with a beautiful dancer who was probably 200+ lbs. She was extremely flexible and made a lotta dough. She worked it. I have seen a very large, unattractive woman try dancing at my first club... she only made it two nights and she did not make money :(

It's all about whether or not the dancer can make it work. Fat, skinny, short, tall, if the dancer can't work it, she shouldn't dance. That's all.
