i vote squirrels. we had some in my crawl space once when i was a kid. they got in through the drainage pipes and chewed the shit out of everything.

But it sounds much bigger than a squirrel. Maybe a raccoon? I don't know if I believe in paranormal stuff or not. I guess it's possible by some ways of thinking. But the fear of the unknown is usually the scariest thing.

Priests tend to piss things off. By "things" I mean me. :P

My friend always says they are not allowed to be there without your permission. Say out loud "You are not allowed in my home. Get out." It works for her so maybe it will work for you...

I have lived in my house 11 years and yes there are definetly "others" here, a shadow here and there, seeing someone pass by out of the corner of my eye and going to look and no one there. Cat and dog will NOT go near the basement. Once we had a sitter and she swore she heard a voice state "Joyce, do the dishes".

I am not afraid as I have had many people in my family pass at a young age and was taught early on that they were my gardian angels. The ones in this house have never exibited any harmful behavior. Hiding keys and such, but never anything distructive.

If you can live in peace with them you can look at it like I do, maybe they are here to ward off the evil ones.

that sounds scary. The idea of ghosts really freaks me out, I hate that I live somewhere where other people have lived before and who knows what has happened in any kind of apartment or rental property to leave bad energy behind? (I grew up in a brand new house when i was younger.)
one of the scariest things that ever happened to me was in a house I used to live in with my boyfriend-I woke up in the middle of the night, and I saw a bluish/transparent figure of an older man in a hat walking through my room-he stopped right in front of my bed to look at me, (def. not a friendly look) and when I tried to scream and wake my boyfriend up, I couldn't move or get a sound out.
I guess I must have fallen asleep after that. *shrug* who knows if this was a paranormal experience or not, isn't there something like night terrors where you are kind of half asleep and dreaming/half awake. All I know is that I felt like I was awake....

New houses can have bad energies, too. Smudge, my friends! At least burn candles or incense and bring in healthy, happy energy to try to counter-balance the cosmic-crabbies.

:shocking:

Are you a non-believer??? lol!

lol. yeah. it's not that i 100% rule out the possibility..... i'm just SUPER skeptical. believing in ghosts requires believing in some sort of an afterlife, and i'm inclined to think there isn't one. i'm not a religious person and i have a hard time buying "ghosts" without at least some sort of "higher power" being present.

Ghosts don't necessarily equate with afterlife... I guess it depends on what you think "ghosts" are if at all.

That's very true. Isn't there something like fucking 11 dimensions they've discovered? They try to explain the Universe like a loaf of bread and the different dimensions being the slices but that just blows my tiny fucking mind. I can't understand it. My point being: there is SO much shit out there that is crazy enough without some sort of religion or faith; I don't think it's too far fetched to think that there could be other "beings" that can shift in and out of our dimension. :O I don't know, that sounds like some sort of sci-fi show my dad tried to get me to watch once, but I just remember having some sort of epiphany like this the last time I was on hallucinogens lol.

I don't believe in an afterlife either but it's possible that people leave energies behind when they die that linger and cause disturbances of some kind.

^^ Ditto. It allows all sorts of bad demons to get in. Some can really fuck you up. NEVER mess with that.

I wouldnt worry about it Kaia - Nothing can hurt you if they don't exist..

I know you said you arent that big on spiritual stuff..but for me, the only experiences i've had has more to do with my religion i guess...liking praying for someones help that was close to me - i always get this cold feeling that comes around me everytime i talk to this one person...its like a slight breeze around me and i always make sure the fan is off and whatnot just to see if it changes but the same thing always happens...get really cold as soon as i start talking to the person (family member) and if i stand up the cold feeling goes away but if i sit back down in the original position of when i first started talking - i get the cold feeling...when im done, the cold feeling goes away...it is kinda like the person is sitting with me until I say everything I have to say...it is really comforting for me because i believe people that were close that have moved on watch over you...

sounds crazy but thats just the way i see it and im not an overly-religious person by any means...I just don't believe in the evil shit, i see the "dark stuff" out of the corner of my eyes all the time but it means nothing to me..

Why would you suggest contacting Wiccans or Witches before a Priest? Honestly, I don't think there's much of a difference as far as contacting the spirit realm goes. I think it just depends on who you can find that has the most experience with this, regardless of their religion. I'm sorry for thread jacking, I'm just curious why you feel this way.

The church, especially the catholic church will automatically assume that it is something evil or demonic.

They say that most houses have spirits in them (-:
Its just the minority that have scarey ones, and even of those, much of the time people are just scared because they are freaked out by the experience, not because the spirit is doing anything so terrible.

OK this sounds nuts but talk to the ghost and explain that it is dead and it needs to go to light. Do the sage thing and burn a white candle.

lol my bf talked to the mean ghost we had living in the attic. he said go to the light blah blah blah and some vedic mantra. it seemed to work for a little bit.

Hmm, the number one complaint I always hear about priests is that they are too skeptical, especially catholic priests. They hardly ever investigate something like this unless there is overwhelming evidence. You'd be surprised, though, there are a lot of Christians out there that aren't so black and white.

I've heard it a few different places. Couldn't hurt even if you might feel silly doing it.
