After a completely sarcastic post, why do you take the "Portland dancer that hates money" part seriously? I make good money in Portland and so do other dancers. I never said I was in favor of nasty anything-goes clubs that are in violation of every protection in the industry. I just don't think that it would be beneficial for clubs in Portland to start getting raided.

I am going off this statement:
Ok...if anyone works at Caberet and knows a dancer i think goes by Desire(crackhead looking white girl with long dirty blonde hair PLEASE tell me her real name and address. She punched me in the face for "looking at her funny" and I"d REALLY like to fuck her up...management told ME to leave after watching this..WTF???

I am having them launch an investigation into the club since they are breaking about 598597647 OR laws and I hope they get shut down. I"m calling the DA in a cpl weeks to pursue the case and hopefully get them raided and shut down.
BUt I"d like to get my own back on HER.

I am sorry that your finger was broken—that is insane. I saw no mention of that before I posted. I definitely don't want "them"—the OLCC I assume—to start raiding clubs, because by and large a lot of the clubs give a little leeway on the OLCC rules. I would hate for nice dancers to get caught up in these raids. But I do see your point. If a club would allow assault, theft, and even kick out good dancers, then they should be shut down. I guess Cabaret has gotten even worse than it ever was. When I said it was a cesspool, I meant that it had little standards with regards to contact. Admittedly, I haven't worked there in a few months. It was always a good money club for me, and I don't really mind light contact, so it worked for me. The owners were never dicks to me.

I'm sorry you two had such a bad experience, and now I am withdrawing from this discussion, since I am obviously in the wrong.

Okay, so here's some stuff for the record:

One reason why I believe (in the long view) the OLCC is actually on our side -- even if it doesn't seem so -- is that, as long as the OLCC is enforcing their rules for liquor license, there will almost never be police raids, because the liquor rules are the front line. But if the OLCC turns a blind eye, the cops will eventually step in (and we all know that cops are NOT on our side.)

The OLCC is not a police organization, but a licensing commission. Basically, what I foresee happening if the OLCC gets called on a club is that their liquor license will be investigated and potentially revoked for some period of time. This does not shut down the club, but the lack of business might.

As long as they're around, dancer arrests will be few and far between.

And I might be happier dancing in a Portland with a somewhat laxer set of rules, but I'm really super glad to have that middleman between the clubs and legal enforcement.

Now, I think I read it wrong on the first go and CKXXX is actually calling the cops, which is a different kettle of fish, and in this case may be justified but I have no idea since I haven't worked at Cabaret -- so, well, eh. That's pretty much the end of my little NPR behind-the-scenes bit on Portland strip club legalities. tipsy TCF signing out.

The cops and the OLCC are already aware of the problems at Cabaret and would like to either clean the place up or shut it down. They have no incentive to start raiding other clubs that aren't posing a problem. I have no reason to believe that they would launch raids or investigations on, say, Mary's Club just because they're investigating Cabaret. One club is not all of them.

I hope Cabaret gets shut down.

A girl I work with said giving lap dances there feels like you're in the middle of an orgy. She said the guys are all really close together and during one dance the guy getting a dance from a different girl, next to where she was dancing, reached over and grabbed her ass. Gross. She said there are just limb everywhere cause of how it's laid out.

Re: Cabaret

Cabaret is the only club I've ever walked out on a shift in...the stage smelled like barf, the girls were giving a LOT away on stage for the $3-5 that got thrown up there, and I agree with what was said about dances....they are on armchairs crammed close together in the back corner FAR away from the dj booth, bouncer, and bartender....I didnt venture back there but the things I saw walking to the dressing room combined with the asshole staff/catty girls sent me running out the door. I would not be sad to see that club shut down after the things I have seen/heard about it
