I didn't say that. I wasn't driving like a jackass, nobody was anywhere near me otherwise I would have been going much slower. I'm sorry for the loss of your daughter.
I know he was doing his job, I'm just venting. Read the above story for why I don't care for cops. Also, when I was 6 months pregnant I got pulled over for running a stop sign, it was literally 100 degrees outside and I told him I needed to get out of the car to get some air or I was going to vomit. I stepped out of the car and sat on the sidewalk and the fucking cop came over and YELLED at me. Because you have a fucking badge and went through a week of school you can treat people like shit?
I just don't like cops. Period. End of story.
Twenty miles OVER the legal safe limit isn't driving like a jackass?!?! How idiotic!
Sounds to me from your previous past of driving w/a suspended liscense, speeding, failure to stop at stop signs, you are fucking lucky you still HAVE a damn liscense!
Personally I don't think you should ever be allowed to drive for at least 5yrs to learn a lesson and follow safe legal driving laws.>:(
It's reckless drivers like you that cause people to loose lives.

most cars do NOT have vid cams.... radar, laser, LIDAR, etc., but definitely not often equipped w/ cams. then again, if you admit guilt on the scene or say anything about 'i'm so sorry for speeding' you're fucked, as it's still your word vs. the cop's, and guess who the court is gonna believe....
NEVER admit guilt when pulled over. Just take the ticket, get an explanation for why you're being pulled over, take a good look @ the conditions around you so you can remember them later (heavy traffic, good weather, lots of construction, etc.)
Sorry but I have to disagree, most if not all State cars do have the cameras in them.

o.O Last time I said people who speed should just pay their ticket for their asshattery and people flamed me. Now everyone is taking my side before I even made it. hahaha, this forum ebbs and flows so funny.
I pay my speeding tickets. Because I suck like that. And, oh, because I was speeding.
I recommend you do, but in the end that's not up to me.
But hey, you weren't the one seeing dead bodies a couple weeks ago.

:( I just read the rest of this thread. You really need to leave the asshole.
Afterall you wouldn't have to go home and freak about telling him if he wasn't around.

I really don't know how to be PC about being scared you'll get a busted lip from someone for freaking doing something that really only affects yourself.

I can see trying to get out of paying the ticket if it was bogus (cop lied, you weren't going the speed they said, etc) but it really pissed me off when people make you feel like a fucking idiot for putting on your big girl panties and paying your fine for breaking the law. Excuse me if I KNOW I was in the wrong and I respond in an adult way. I know I was wrong, I pay the ticket. It'll teach me to break it again in the future. There's a reason we have traffic laws.
Flame away, I don't care.

I think there was just a misunderstanding in this thread. The OP wanted to complain about something that happened; it was phrased in such a way that many people thought that she was claiming it was unjustified/bad/wrong. She did clarify, although she wasn't particularly gracious about it; and of course relatively few people have been particularly gracious about accepting her correction. At this point everyone is working at cross purposes.
Now. Does everyone feel better? Is it time to exchange the stripperweb hugs yet? I like the cheerful hugging part.
In addition - in my opinion there is nothing innately more responsible in just paying a ticket than in fighting it. Everyone has the absolute right to have the state prove a charge against them; making the state do that as opposed to just pleading guilty and saving them the time and effort is not "irresponsible" or "childish." As well fighting a ticket doesn't mean "lying". It means that you make the state prove that you did what they said you did. People here have outlined a bunch of administrative reasons that doesn't always happen without you saying a damn thing.

I think a lot of people in this thread need to STFU really, Unless you have driven on 35 you would understand . Alot of people on that damn highway go towards 100 mph and I am not bullshitting. Edit: Im out of this thread .

Uhhhh...do you have any idea how many people die on 35 per week because of attitudes like that?
I'm really not wanting to get involved in attacking L&L, but that statement was just ludicrous, b21q. So what if everyone does it? The fact that no one drives safely somehow makes it okay?

I think you and the OP are missing the point. It's not about the speeding. We've all done it.
It's about not taking responsibility when you get caught. I understand (and said so) about the vent, but wishing bodily harm on someone who was performing their job is what started this whole thing though.

Thank you Stella. I was going to say that, but you said it perfectly.
And NOBODY 'needs' to STFU. It's an Interstate; do you really think that your 35 is the only Interstate like that, so other could not possible understand? WRONG. People are like that on I-10 out here as well. All i do is let the looney-tune speeders pass me and do the limit, do you want to know why?
Because if a cop is doing his job, and he can't easily catch the people going over 100 mph but you're going slightly slower at 90, he will try to get you. If he gets half of the speeders, he's given half of them a wake up call. If they choose to ignore it and do it again, then they must not have learned.

To the OP,
I case you do come back to read this thread, I am sorry that happened. I think we all know what its like to fly into rage over tickets and just want to chew the cop out who gave it to us.
I am sure now that you have had some time to calm down, youre thinking more sensibly and no one here needs to tell you that you were speeding, you know you were. Whatever. About fighting the ticket, I dunno about that one because honestly, youre guilty.
This doesnt mean youre a failure though! Shit happens, try to maintain your honor and respect the system (even though it is really stupid in a lot of ways). You honestly dont have an excuse, it was just a bad night, it happens to everyone. Just try to deal with it and be careful next time. Who ever mentioned Luna bars, thats a great idea, you can pack yourself snacks and try to avoid all this bullshit in the future.
If someone has some great advice about how to beat the ticket tho, go for it. I am just saying, bottom line is youre guilty, and they wont be impressed if you throw a hissy fit. Honestly, youre better than that, you dont need to do that. You can handle life, you can handle bad nights, you can handle it.
As for your husband, I feel like a very scary something came out of a bad night, and its this mention that hes abusive. Once again, you are NOT a failure. Please dont think this. I would seriously look at what is really going on in your relationship, please dont let yourself be treated badly, in no way do you deserve that.
The only way you will fail is if you fail yourself by not giving yourself the chance to have a good, safe life.
Good luck with everything!

Abusive men deserve to be alone for the rest of their miserable lives. Splitting your lip for a driving error? Wow.
I don't want to be accused of judging your relationship here, obviously none of us know all the details. The only reason for staying I could think of is if there are children involved and he would likely get custody in the event of a separation or divorce. I wouldn't want to leave the children in that abusive situation. I'm not too sure that even that would be a good enough reason to stay.
I truly hope that everything works out for you in that respect. I hope that you find someone who truly deserves your companionship and devotion.

Okay, seriously.. have we all done enough bitching? Yes, I'm including myself in there. I'm over it, I said a few pages ago that I was wrong and I'm going to take care of the ticket and drive the speed limit. I also said I don't wish the cop or anybody any harm, I was angry and irrational. I will also bring something to eat when I will be out of the house for a while. I just can't believe some people are still dragging it out 5 pages later.
The abuse is a whole 'nother thread (which I'm not going to start).. I'm already planning on getting out, I'm fine. I'm just waiting until my nursing license stuff goes through so I can get a job and then I'm out the door.
Can we all just be done with this thread, please?

Sorry but I will NOT shut the fuck up.
Until you have had countless friends and family involved in wrecks due to people being wreckless (ie, speeding (like 10+over), running stop signs/lights, hitting pedestrians, drinking and driving (or being hit by a D&D), hitting various wildlife, etc...) then you can't know how serious this is to some of us.
Oh and BTW, if a lot of people think it's cool to jump out of the Sears Tower, would that make it ok to do?
