Yeah. Australia has really strict laws about that stuff. You can't even do reverse lookups for phones here.

what!! it has my whole freaking name and my mom's whole maiden name, my uncle's whole name, my current addres and my address when I was in college...

Hmmm so I found every address I've ever had. Plus 8 "associates or roomates" that I've never heard of. And appreantly 23 criminal records. Huh? I have ZERO, unless of course my alter-ego is a mass murderer :-X
I am a little freaked out that Zabasearch offers a satalite view of the address. I know it wouldn't be super detailed, but SHIT that just sounds creepy.
What scares me the most is the reverse-phone # lookup. Is it true that you can do that with cell phones? I typed in mine and it said Name, address, age, home value, etc. etc. available with subscripition. WTF? If this is true, it makes me think twice about giving my number to guys I meet at the bar!! :-\
I am the only person in the world with my name. I am so marrying a guy who's last name is Doe. And naming my kids John and Jane.

it has my whole freaking name and my mom's whole maiden name
What's scary about that is mom's maiden name is often used for ID purposes.
I'm surprised that there hasn't been more movement to protect some of this info.
As I've been looking around, there really isn't all that much we can even do about it - at least until some laws change.

Actually there is a site like this for australia too, but you have to pay before you can view any of the info.I was researching my mothers background when I stumbled across them, there are a few!!

I know. Not stupid. I said I dont want to be on there. I wasnt stating there was a way. I realize what it is and that they get their information from public informaation- I just dont like it....
Sorry, I was not trying to imply you were stupid.

WHAT.
It turned up 8 results for my full name (which, if you Google it, only turns up results related to me...I don't think anyone else with my name even exists in America), under "active criminal search."
I barely have any record at all, since I'm a newly-minted taxpayer, much less a criminal record! Think my 6-years-overdue New York Public Library late fee is finally catching up to me?

i have a question... on zabasearch it shows my name and old phone number (my private line from when i was like 12 and my fathers #) and correct age
but for the associated addresses it shows
"Previous Locations for _____:
3 in Oil City, PA
3 in Newark, OH
3 in Thornville, OH
3 in Keokuk, IA
2 in Encinitas, CA
8 more locations in 6 other cities..."
The only STATE listed that I have ever lived in is CA and but I lived nowhere near Encinitas.......Plus, I am from South Florida...
Does any of this point to improper use of my SS#? Or am I just reading too much into it?

I don't think that the number next to your name is your age. I think that's the number of listings it has for you.
Also, it has a criminal listing for me- but I don't have anything that I know of wtf?
Bella21, you wanna check it out for me?

I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be your age (My dad is correct, so would my Mom be if she wasn't dead) but they're often wrong.

Yea the number next to the name is your age but I noticed that for quite a few ppl i know, it was incorrect.
My details are not listed on any of these sites, which I am not surprised about seeing as I have only been living in the US a couple of years.
I am curious to know whether there is something similar for the UK though .. hmmm

it says I'm 24, which is right. sometimes they get you confused with other relatives (my sister's age is not 66 but someone else in my immediate family is 66)

Guys, do NOT pay for this crap. Unless you get Acquirent. Seriously you are doing more harm than good. Of course it says you have a criminal record, that's how they get you to pay for the info because if you don't have one you want to know what it is for. Then once you pay you realize there is nothing there. Now they have UPDATED info because you had to submit your credit card number!
Don't believe the hype.Or in this case buy into the hype. All that info that is listed on sites like Zaba etc are phone numbers and addresses that companies have sold info, or public record.
Also if you see addresses you've not lived at, it's not really an indication that your s.s.card is being used. There are glitches with every system and when i worked for a debt collector we found glitches and knew to over look them.
If anyone has used your info without your consent you can find that via your credit report.
As far as Cell phone number look up, yes they exist for certain companies. Just google your phone number and see if it's located. A lot of small time call phone carriers sell info.
Also a scenerio where say a debt collector calls your last known phone number and someone who does have your current number answers, that company enters it into their database and then updates, say a system like Acqurient. Then it becomes public info and eventually it trickles down to sites like Intellius and Zaba.

Now I'm worried that a dancer license would show up in one of those searches?? If someone subscribes, please let me know!!
Many municipal and state issued licenses are part of the public domain and can show up in any records search of the known state or municipal files if the proper name used on the license is known.
That means that, yes, most of the time the fact that you have a dancers license would be searchable if someone knew the right city, state, and the name you used to get it.
Just like in the legal brothels in Nevada, where a license is necessary to work there. It is for ever searchable once you get said license that one worked as a legal prostitute.

The downside to that is that every time you want to use your SS#... like, to say, to hook up a phone, you have to actually go to their office with an ID to prove who you are.
Okay, I paid for the site. It's lame. There's no info that isn't already available for free... and no actual addresses or phone numbers... and nothing about my dancer license (that peace of mind was worth $9.99)
There wouldn't be. For the REAL deal you have to go to the source, but there is enough info on sights like this for potential stalkers to get closer to you, which was the intent of the OP to point out.
For instance, if I want DL info I go to the DMV for the state(s) I want. Around $15 and I have a complete driver schematic. Same for a CCH [computerized criminal history]. Similarly for credit report [which hosts a ton of info].
With a few well placed requests for public domain info a professional investigator can, as I said, put a dossier together on someone that gives the entire picture of who that person is. Sometimes right down to the videos they rent. No where near as hard as it use to be. Computer savvy amateurs, with only a bit of training, can do it.
Add to that fact that if you live in a city, what with all the vid cams around, you are likely to be on video four minutes of every five you are out of doors or in a store, bank, even restaurants and STRIP-CLUBS now days :) ...
Scary stuff.

...now that many posters here realize that their info is out there in the electronic ether (while much of it is right, much of it is wrong/outdated/incomplete) .....who is going to go look up that certain biatch at work, that regular you are curious about, that guy your girlfriend met at the store, your ex'es?
I once did a look up for a girl-friend on her ex and found he was in prison for about 6 months. She thought back and remembered he disappeared during that time but never knew why. We laughed about that one.

Um, they have an alias for me that I've never heard of, but with two different addresses I've lived at. Is there anything I can do? Should I be worried?? I mean, I'm kinda worried about that, is someone stealing my identity? I just pulled my credit yesterday and nothing strange was on there....but ... idk.
Sophia_Ashley
05-25-2008, 12:18 AM
With aliases, it depends on what search site you used. I highly doubt it though if nothing came up on your CR. However you might want to do a search with your social security number and see if it's registered to more than you. Granted a lot of times an error can occur (it does happen frequently) and it'll show at some random year someone else had that same social. HOWEVER I found that it happened between 89-95 and not much after that. So they must have had some shitty program or were uploading to a net based program during that time that could be used for creditors etc. and there were random errors.
& To wiseguy TX
When I worked for this company I looked up everyone from celebs to who I date. We found lost loved ones ( I reconnected my mother with a half sister she hadn't seen since 1965) I also was able to help some friends find their dead beat fathers who they'd never met. I chose to do good with my info seeking. My friends didn't want to confront the fathers, they wanted to know..is he alive.. where's he living..is he married..does he have kids.. what's his social and phone number just in case. I gave closure to soo many people, including myself. I'm pretty thankful that this stuff exists, although I used the stuff that's gov controlled and not paid for via a site.
It sucks though, a lot of shitty people out there have shitty intentions with this mess.

I've seen this before. What's really fun is to find celebrities.
For example, Marilyn Manson:

Possible Employment / Business Associations:
CELEBRITARIAN CORPORATION
JIMMYS TOURING, INC
JIMMYS TOURING, INC
MARILYN MANSON FILMS, INC
MARILYN MANSON RECORDS, INC
(4) SANTA MONICA, CA
CHATSWORTH, CA
CANTON, OH
SANTA CLARITA, CA
DEERFIELD BEACH, FL
BOCA RATON, FL

Possible Relatives:
WARNER, BARBARA J ( 63)
WARNER, HUGH ANGUS ( 63)
Possible Roommates / Associates:
FINE, ADAM HOWARD ( 37)
SENDYK, JAY M ( 57)
All I had to do is know his real name, which is common public knowledge and the state he lives in. There's no way I, or anyone can stalk him with this info though. Someone who is obsessive enough might be able to do something like this.

Um, yeah... ::)
All the adults in my immediate family popped up instantly. However, "Active Criminal Search" shows 120 results, despite the fact that I have no record and I've always cleared LiveScan screens and background checks by federal, state and local agencies in the course of maintaining my employment & my license. :O
Perhaps it's all those screenings and checks by various entities over the past 15 years or so...??? :-\

This really freaks me out. Zabasearch came up with my (old, thank god) home address, phone number, and with one click it gave you an aerial image of my old neighborhood and home ... how handy for someone if they wanted to stalk you or break in and rape you!
The other site came up with my mom's full name and step-dad's name ... So even if you hide your address and phone number, someone could go on these sites, look up your relatives and then find THEIR addresses/phone numbers in order to get to you if they really wanted to.
With some of the creepy custies out there, I would NOT put it past them to pull something with all this personal info just laying around begging to be used.
