I don't know about anyone else, but in my town the Soulja Boy craze has finally died.
I never, ever hear the song anymore, thank GOD. When I started dancing last summer, though, I remember hearing it several times an hour. One time I even had a a customer get up and LEAVE because we counted Soulja Boy 3 times in an hour...

"We poppin champagne" or "pop bottles" what the fuck ever by whoever

and that damned "Crazy Bitch" song that WILL.NOT.FUCKING.DIE.

This post made me laugh. Also made me glad again I don't listen to MTV or the radio, and refuse to play what they are playing to death.

I have tried explaining this to a few superlative dancers asking for the same trite schlock that every other dancer in the house is threatening to kill each other over, 'All over the country, untold thousands of dancers are all dancing to the same fucking songs, all night long. You are different, you are special--dance to something special, that is what you deserve.'

It never works. Well maybe a little, sometimes.

t's funny, there are certain songs that just rub me the wrong way. Obviously this is one of them. But I don't get that it has a good beat, it's slow as hell and discordant. Now there are plenty of slower songs with a good beat, I just don't think it's one of them.

But as always, especially with music, and especially in here, to each their own.

Well yeah, of course....I'll never reprimand anyone for listening to shit like that, but......
We, who share eachother's pain in hating it, can always vent about it!

Music is a big part of why I am pretty much done dancing
It's always been a huge influence in my life and can really effect my moods.

God forbid I play something different, right? No tips for me. People are drones...it's like they are conditioned to only tip those who play something that's fresh off the radio or Total Request Live.
I am so, so , so very sick of taking the time to burn a bad ass CD with some great rare tracks on it, all to bring it in and either
A. not have it played cause the DJ doesn't like anything on it an there's no 50 Cent or Usher included
B. have it played but get ignored on stage, looked at with confused faces, or have some big table of k-fed wannabes tell me I "ruined their vibe" by playing something other than the shit mentioned above.

I mean don't get me wrong, I am no dummy, I know how to follow the vibe of a club...if I haven't heard anything but hip-hop for 3 hours straight I'm not gonna request Pantera or Slayer or something.
I'll gladly play hip-hop but my version of good hip-hop is alot different than most peoples' I guess....

Soulja Boy is NOT

Wow, you are in a bad club, sounds like. If the fucking DJ plays nothing but vapid Top 40 schlock and bad hip-hop (bad as in shit like Soulja Boy, lol), eventually he will drive away the customers with a little imagination, and the dumbfucks that listen to the same rotten crap on the radio all day will mindlessly expect to hear it in the club.

Don't get me wrong, I play a lot of R & B because so many dancers ask for it, and even some hip-hop or rap, but I tend to stick with OldSchool rap and certain select new artists. But I also play a lot of techno and rock. You have to mix it up to attract the right clientele.

It's so sad that music is driving you out of dancing--that's just wrong...
