COLETTE!!! I just got my paperwork in time which means I'm not on a restricted license so I can RIDE ANYTHING. But I'm still getting the CBR600... WOooOOWOOOOOO!
Im getting my license ON MY BIRTHDAY! :D

It turns out with the new laws, you have to have a 250 license for a YEAR before getting a 600!! WTF! So basically you're forced into making a 250 your first bike and buying another one after a year... pricey!

OoOOOO!!
Someone near me is selling a 750 Honda for 2 grand... never been dropped.. he just wants a new one.
but it's black. :(
Easy changed, yeah?

is this instead of the ninja 250????
and what MODEL are we taking about here... and year?
i say stick to the original plan, which was definitely solid. saving some $ in the beginning isn't worth anything when you crash 'cause you've gotten a bike that puts you in over your head.

It's a 2001 Honda 750... can't remember the model...CRV or CV... or something (I really suck at this).
I've saved a lot. I have another grand of work going straight into my bike tonight and...
I GOT MY MOTORCYCLE LEARNERS LICENSE TODAY. My classes start at the end of the month but right now I can LEGALLY RIDE A 250!! :D
I'm really doing this... I'm really doing this...

*does a little putt-putt dance around the room for ya* nice! damn, i miss my bike... she's at the shop getting a valve adjustment for her 18k. :'(
... and do you mean a CB750? (hehe cr-v= a CAR, silly!) a cb750 is a nighthawk. I think you want to stick w/ the 600rr.
this is a pic of the 2001 cb750 (i.e. a nighthawk 750...)

I can attest that after tonight (Wed night, State of Origin) that Lysondra is now so so much more closer (and joyous about it) to her goal.
And yes she is actually qualified to drive a motorcycle. I saw her license :)
I personally am waiting until I'm 40. Just something I wanted to do to mark that milestone ;) I'm excited for Lysondra tho' ;D

I anticipate getting my n00b license sometime next week.
You can just head on over the bridge to NZ and we can go riding together :P

Also also also also...

06-11-2008, 09:53 PM
I like!
and yes I was a witness to Lysondra's excitement :)
I like my helmet better tho' :) hehehe
Even tho' I sold my moped motorcycle, I kept my helmet ! :)
Can't wait to see your bike suit!
Lysondra
06-11-2008, 09:55 PM
Moped helmets are waaaaaaay too weak for what I am doing. I'd kill myself. So I got my Shoei helmet which is top of the line (put it this way... it cost more than the guys PAID last night before the club cut!)
It squishes my face so I'm wearing it a lot to break it in. I have squirrel cheeks in it!!
This helmet is my new toy.
After spending $1200+ on lessons and gear I can't rightly go back now, can I?!

Yeah, that was the bridge I was referring to :D
Yay for motorcycle excitement! The Mr is all excited 'cos he gets his brand new R6 tomorrow. He is a terrible man for spending so much, but it's cool. It's such a pretty bike.

Lys you got a GOOD helmet! nice work! and i like the gloves, too...
i'd steer clear of a monster 900 until you have WAAAAy more riding time under your belt. That's a lot of power, girl! I had almost 2 yrs before i got mine... plus, that's a steep price for a '94... and you DON'T want an older ducati on your hands. finding parts will be a bitch and a half. I'd look for a monster 620/695/759, between year 2000-2003. Old enough to get a good price but new enough to find your parts without a problem.
hehe you need to stop looking at 750+cc bikes, chica! :P
Murdock- the r6 is a terrific machine. Very popular for a very good reason.

the fast biker are barely more expensive than the slow ones! I saw a 04 1100 honda for 4.5 today. old cop bike too, so well maintained. white for good visibility. couldn't touch the ground! sad! I did my research on the helmets and heard shoeis were second best on the market. yay for safety! I keep getting mixed reviews on being c female starting with a faster bike. half say it doesn't matter half say I'll kill myself. boo. can we ride together in cali, colette?
ColetteCalahan
06-13-2008, 09:16 AM
^ it's not just 'faster,' though... it's more power. Any bike is 'fast' at top gear... but these bikes are powerful in 1st gear! A powerband has to do w/ distribution of power... the problem with getting an upper-cc bike at first is mastering the lower gears... and not doing a wheelie/dropping the clutch in traffic/zooming yourself into the car in front of you. Please just believe me when I say that you shouldn't be looking any higher than a 750. The cbr600rr that you were looking at is a SHITLOAD of power.... it's fast and nimble as hell... girl, you WON'T be bored on a 600! and remember, just because it's more cc's doesn't mean it's faster- speed also has to do w/ weight, with technology, etc... and usually, the more cc's you have, the bigger the bike. NO 1100's!!! ARE YOU NUTS!???? that police bike is a fucking beast! it weighs five gazillion times more than you and will NOT be a fun ride. Please , please please stick w/ something lighter/easier to control!!!
Just think of this.... when you suddenly find you have to back up in reverse, on an incline, and you have a shitload of weight under you and you can't touch the ground, then what??? You'll drop it. Please get a more comfortable, lighter, smaller machine.
Hey, if you ever come out to CA, I'm down!!!! ;)

I have that video on my phone still but my stupid phone won't send it to my computer and my computer won't recognize the drivers!! :(
Option A: Send it from your phone to (1) someone's e-mail or (2) another phone from which it can be downloaded
Option B: List the phone and driver spec's and see if the communication problem can be worked out
Lysondra
06-14-2008, 06:26 AM
okay! I've totally stopped looking at powerful bikes. but I keep getting sweet offers! but I think I might've found my bike. someone's got my exact bike for 5200 drive away. the police bike was definitely too big. but I wanted it anyway. ha. I keep testing bikes just for ground touching! yay murdock!! come to australia and we'll ride for weeks. also, my phone won't send the message to my email, tried that. gotta go.

06-14-2008, 10:15 AM
Will it send to someone else's phone?
Lysondra
06-14-2008, 10:34 PM
no. my phone won't send it. not my email won't get it or another phone won't get it. my phone won't SEND it. keeps saying it's too big.

I have the cash. buy now or wait until I get my full license and have more money and buy then? I want my bike now but I can't even legally test ride it, ha ha ha. maybe buy a 250 anyway? otherwise I have no bike for my birthday ride since I get my license same day. unless I plan to get my license, bike and ride same day. yeahno. I have the money for a 600 honda or similar price range... I'm just too overeager.
murdock
06-24-2008, 12:36 AM
I say get the 250 now and get riding.
Get the new 250 ninja - it's kinda sexy.
Though if I were being sensible I would probably just get a pre-loved GN250 since they're dirt cheap and then sell it on to another n00b when you upgrade, for the same price. That way you get to ride, even though it's not a sexy bike, you are unlikely to lose any money and you have more time to save up for your next sexy bike.
In other news, I got my n00b license and have been riding a bit. Would like it to be more but the weather is crappy. It's fun, anyway.
ColetteCalahan
06-24-2008, 12:42 AM
girl hooooooooold your horses!!!!!! if you can't ride it, you're just gonna have to let it sit on a battery tender and pay insurance for it without riding. hold on a bit longer.

they've had ads for a bit. I heard they were overpriced but I'll still check em out. I WANT MY BIKE! so bad. want. now.
murdock
06-25-2008, 03:05 AM
Just get a sexy 250. You're only a tiny little thing so it'll still fly with you on, and how fast do you really need to go? Do you really need to go over 200kph? You can still zoom waaaay more than you should on a "little" bike, and you can have it now!
Do it! Do it! Do it!

FROM LYSONDRA
Colette, how is the Ducati 695 for a bike? Brand new $13,300 AUD?
I've also sent this via PM so feel free to respond here or the PM.

^ oh hey!!! AWESOME duc. great monster. 13000 - is it an '07? I'm assuming yes... it's a really sweet machine. However, my advice- try to find an older model 620 for less... simply because it's a first bike and it'll sustain some first bike wear and tear, and older bikes cost less and can hold their value. The 620 monster is still super-fantastic.
Lysondra
06-26-2008, 12:57 AM
thanks! yes that's brand fucking new. I feel like I'm copying you getting a Duke but there bikes are AMAZING! they sound like a dream. I'll check that bike out.
ColetteCalahan
06-26-2008, 11:54 AM
??? a duke?? you mean a Duc, right? There is a popular bike called a Duke (made by KTM), but it's REALLY tall, please tell me you mean Duc! lol...
haha you wouldn't be copying me!!! shit, I'm the one who told you a monster would be great for you!!! They're beautiful, classy, look/sound amazing, great handling, capable, adaptable, good for city & travel, easy to customize, good mileage, light and low to the ground!!! With some POWER when you need it in a nice little package! why do you think I'm on monster #2? :D (but yeah, i wouldn't buy a new one. no 695, and i think the 696's are uuuuugly. the 620 would be perfect, though.)
ColetteCalahan
06-26-2008, 12:02 PM
btw- i'm HORRible w/ geography, but here are some links to monsters around australia (you can always get it shipped to you if you find a cheap shipper)
and here are some more local aussie clubs (they usually have forums/classifieds)
Lysondra
06-26-2008, 06:14 PM
the 695 is being replaced next year by the 96s, so this would be my last year to get one new. I have the option of getting it in pearl white, ha ha. I'll be testing it again when I get my open license. someone told me if felt Duc's had sticky bits. but everyone tells me they're favourite speed is high. they just wanna go fast. they sound beautiful. thanks for the link, I'll check them out when my laptop is fixed!

i've decided at this point that advice is kinda pointless, as you're going to do what you want, and it was damn hard swaying you away from a 900cc truck of a bike. ::) i still say go for an earlier model 620. It just makes more sense.

no matter what kind of bike you get, road, touring, etc.....you always want to get a "low-end" bike to learn on. Even though you pass the test, there is so much more in the little things that you need to learn, other bike skills....
Lysondra
06-27-2008, 03:14 AM
no! don't give up no me! I haven't even test ridden! I'm just seeing what bikes I can FIT on still! plus it's hard to check the links when my laptop is broken! I'm forced to sit on bikes in person and take rides! are you sure I can't get that 900? darn! that one I keep thinking about. tested a cbr750 today and another duc. this is hard finding the right bike. so far it's neck and neck between a cbr and a Duc both used and 600-750cc.
ColetteCalahan
06-27-2008, 10:22 AM
cbr 750??? wow... rare! yeah, like i said before, you'll fit on any monster model (they're all about the same) and the 748/749, both of which have low seat heights for superbikes (but don't get 'em!!! really advanced! and heavier... very aggressive riding position) also the sportclassic & the gt1000, which is heavy as shit. heehe i'm not giving up on ya, are you kidding? i just know you'll end up w/ what you end up with- not a bad thing.
if you are interested, though- check out ducatimonsterforum.org.... there's an aussie rider section and a LOT of bikes for sale. Good luck!

Wooo I'm online again!!
I almost finally had my bike picked. A small simple Yamaha Zeal 250. Cute, enough power, cheap, new tyres... but I changed my mind again, hahahaha.
I think you're right though, Colette. I'm so desperate to have a bike that's NOT a 250 because of the new license changover that I seem to think I need a 600-900.. and I really don't. I'm teeny tiny and it's my first bike for godsake!
What do you think of a 400 Hornet?
and YAY...!! NOW I CAN CHECK THOSE SITES! :D

07-04-2008, 08:12 PM
I found a 94 Yamaha YZF600R for $3,995 from a dealership I trust with rego and warranty 6 months.
What do you think?
OR... 1998 YAMAHA TRX850 for $4,990 same rego/warranty. Think it's too fast for me.
Lysondra
07-04-2008, 08:39 PM
Okayokayokay... my list of serious contenders....:
1998 YAMAHA TRX850 for $4,990
94 Yamaha YZF600R for $3,995
1991 HONDA CBR1000F $3,500 (back to the CBRs...lol)
1992 YAMAHA YZF750 $3,500
1994 KAWASAKI ZZ-R600 $3,500
1994 YAMAHA YZF750R 4,000
1994 HONDA VFR750 $4,200 AUD
1996 KAWASAKI ZX9R NINJA $4,400
1997 KAWASAKI ZZR1100 $5,000 AUD (fuckin' GORGEOUS bike but sooo fast! :()
1999 APRILIA PEGASO $4,750 (how is this brand?)
2000 KAWASAKI NINJA ZX-6R $4,000 AUD
1994 DUCATI 600SS $5,995 (riiight at the top of my price range if I want to purchase this month)
Which would you get for a first bike?
I've decided I wanted a used bike around four to six grand in the mid-90's (cheaper but well maintained) and between 400-750ccs.
For five dollars I can get a whole 150 more ccs on the YZF, hahahaha.
