Im in florida and I make less then half the money I made about 5 years ago. Its terrible here, in my opinion. Good luck. PM me if you know of a $$ place in FL or near hear (GA? NC?) That isnt too bad money wise. That would be worth a week trip. I have school so I can only go tues-sunday. Im wiling to drive 6 hours for a good club.

even though it's not the "good ol' days" of dancing where you could make 500 bucks a night without even trying (according to one of the veteran dancers at my club) I'm glad that I'm not struggling financially. I save a LOT of money. 50%+ of what I make each night goes into savings and then what's left over goes to bills, gas, groceries, and whatever. I might not be able to afford the kind of luxury that dancers used to have but I still have a big fat wad of cash in my bank in case anything were to happen unlike my friends from high school who are now mostly in some form of debt and/or living paycheck to paycheck and would be completely screwed if their car broke down.
I do wish I could have the nice things but in this economy having a job and staying afloat is getting harder and harder so why not feel lucky?

I know of two good video series that are really helpful in understanding what is going on with the economy.
Money as Debt 8 part series 10 min each
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_doYllBk5No
Money Masters 22 part series 10 min each
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nry7U6A4w4w
If you watch both of these series, the next time some guy tries to talk you down on your price because of the "recession" you can actually have an intelligent discussion instead. You will probably be able to make more money because he will be so impressed with your knowledge.

Its not as easy as it used to be because girls actually have to put some effort into it. There is money to be made, its all about how well your approach works for you. I recently had to tweek my game because I was stuck in simple minded strategies at work. Positive thinking and good money management will take you far in the hard times we are facing.

I have been dancing for 10 years and in those years I have never seen it as bad as it this year. For the first time I am walking out some nights with 40 dollars. I look at my records and read the numbers from about 2002-2006 and can not believe how much I made. For me personally I work in a few different clubs and each one has dropped. The fun has been taken out of it and replaced with the dread of no one coming in the club. At the beginning of the decline which according to me began in 2006 I freaked out and went to every club that would hire me only to discover it is a nationwide phenomenon. On a brighter note I began college when the business was booming and am glad I did. At the time I had no idea why I was going, but now I am almost done with a Marketing BA and a minor in psychology and preparing for future hustlin careers through internships and such. Since the courseload has gotten more intense leaving me less time in the club, I felt that God had shunned me...because the money dropped when I needed it more. /:O As of right now I'm just getting by with my bills dancing three days a week. On a brighter note I think maybe its happening for a reason because I wouldn't be as focused on schools and a career if we were still bangin out 600-1000+ a night. I also want to say that I learned more about business, marketing, and dealing with people as a stripper than at college! When I'm doing an internship or a a real job I feel I have a great advantage because stripping, although I can not put it on my resume, has given me experience that other people lack. So all I can say is keep hustlin in the clubs ladies, but try to really explore other options for the future and start on them. It may not be college, it may be starting your own business....I am permanently grateful for dancing either way because even on the most "asshole ridden" nights I think I'm on my way to something. For now I'd like to think that these hard times are teaching us to be resilient.

I quit my dancing job to go into real estate. Im not making money and my former employers won't hire me back. Some people in NYC get such a chip on their shoulder. I left on good terms and told them why. Its not like I got fired. So, Im out of luck. I hate dancing but I can't find a job waiting tables. Been looking for 11 months now! I went through my savings! I need a miracle. I even applied for a night janitor position that paid $12 hr. and it was a bougus phishing scam for credit reports. Be careful of sending resumes on craigslist. Its better to apply in person. I have never gotton a reply for a resume on Craigslist. Only recruiter websites, and company applicatin websites. Im not sending my res on CL anymore. Oh well wish me luck. I am trying to learn from this. I dont live in reality. That much I figured out.

I don't know... I work in a what would be considered a "middle class" club overall, although it's the nicest club in the area, and I'm still doing pretty good. I keep expecting to go in one night and *boom!* recession has hit and there is no money to be found, but it hasn't happened yet.
The only real change I've seen is how many more girls are auditioning, whether they're from other clubs that have shut down or travelers, I've never seen this many girls try to work at my bar! We already have enough dancers :(
AGREED! I can still make decent money (no where near as much as five years ago, but thats a different story) but my little club has gone from averaging 6 girls on a weeknight and 10 on a weekend to 10 every night and 20 on a weekend...I know that doesn't sound like much, but the place is TINY (on busy nights we are lining up to get into the private dance booths) and imagine if your numbers DOUBLED at the club..its a lot harder for a lot of girls...there IS still money around though.

^^^^ uummm...may I point out that you are posting on a site for people who work in strip clubs? If you are suggesting that this forum is populated by whores (people who work in whorehouses!) then may I politely suggest you fuck off?
If, however, you intended that statement as more of a lighthearted (if slightly bitter) comment on the way the industry is going, then maybe you should moderate that tome a little - I find that post kind if offensive.

Monicabi I think a few people might find your post offensive. This is a stripper forum after all. Although there have always been dirty clubs and extras dancers that doesn't mean all clubs and dancers in the industry are like that.

So I found out that my former club sold half their space to the deli next door and girls werent getting their funny money cashed in. Got hired back at a middle class place, but there were 60 girls and 40 custys per night. Paid $100 in HF and made $200 back. VIP very dirty. Had to turn one custy down. VIP dirty every club these days. One guy pulled his pants down as soon as we got in the room. He stank something fierce. I told him to keep his clothes on. TROLL!
That has never happened to me. Or when they touch w/o asking or try to take my hand and use it to touch them. So creepy. I quit again. Back in Real estate.

I wrote it like that out of frustration. From my personal experience dancing at a clubs and seing how business going downhill and reading posts on this forum. Club staff are overlooking extras and the girls so desperate they lowering their standarts.
Just the other day our club regular customer handed me a $50 bill and sayed "i just want fondle your breasts" and it happened at a club where 5 years ago staff would not allowed for customer to touch girls leg while she is dancing for him.

Unfortunately most clubs have gone downhill, you are right. Even in the "clean clubs", if you actually look around on any given night they could easily be mistaken for brothels! I mean, girls allowing strangers to fondle their breasts (and usually just as part of a dance) is something I see on a daily basis. And this is not the only thing they are " allowing" men to do... or the only thing the customer is asking for. Sad but true. It appears that stripping is no longer about entertaining, taking your clothes off, showing your beautiful body and shaking your ass. :(

strip clubs are part of the "Sin Industry" (ex. porn, ciggarettes, alcohol), meaning that no matter how bad the economy gets, or how much the taxes for them are, these types of businesses will always survive. granted, everyone involved will feel the pinch. you might have fewer customers, your club might lay off all the girls who arent the real bread winners, or maybe you wont get to work as many hours as you'd like, but any business which falls under the "sin" category IS RECESSION PROOF!

^I agree! my average has gone from about 150-250 a night to about 350-450. it might have something to do with the fact that I'm becoming a more experienced hustler, but it seems that the overall average earnings in the club is going up.

I really like all of your comments and questions. Stripper Web is doing a great job of hosting such an awesome community of strippers! Ladies, the truth is, we are down-right misunderstood. People who are not familiar with the industry think that we are prostitutes trafficking drugs and giving our pimps house fees. My life's work is to help bring enlightenment to those that judge while educating women everywhere that this is an amazing, respectable profession that will make you more money than 99% of the entire jobs in the world. Reading these posts makes me continually gain an understanding of what makes you really happy, and what you NEED to help this industry survive.
Feel Free to use any of my blog postings or video links to help ladies find the answers they need. My blog is . I've literally left no stone unturned in my educational system that I have developed just for exotic dancers to help you be prepared, make the most possible income and to set yourself up for life financially.
What an amazing and rare opportunity that we have as exotic dancers! It's our first amendment right and our inherent power that we are harnessing to make our lives better, happier, and more fulfilled. Bravo!

I have to say something i have had to do was to stop stripping full time. Im a hairstylist, but i wanted to take a break and make some money full time stripping. i have only danced for 2 years so i dont know about what the "good old days" were like when u made truckloads of money a shift... but i know i would be pissed.. bc really i know im a decent looking naturally large chested girl and i have no problem making money but with the economy.. in my city at least they are all about the free show! hand a couple of ones here and there and just say they are here for a beer, relaxing after work blah blah nt staying long and that is the customer flow of the evening. so really i am greatful for every single dollar i make bc even though latley leaving with 150-250 on a slow friday is better than nothing.
But i have come to realize i didnt get into this business to JUST make that. so going back to working full time doing hair and stripping when i have the time or want or need the extra cash.. has worked better for me. more than anything.. it has saved me the stress of feeling like.. SHIT.. i HAVE to go to work today.. like ..that feeling sucks. so figuring out how to live well off my real job and dancing on the side has made me and more independent and more sane induvidual!!!

I guess it will take few months to years to get out of recession. I want to use this time to plan for a career after stripping.
What are you planning to do after stripping ?
I liked few comment in this section (LaceyLuv304 has hair stylist skills, katia13 has marketing BA degree)

Money was much easier to make in clubs a few years ago but now that there are so many strippers and escorts out there guys seem to wanr to hear everybodys pitch before opening their wallets.. So as long as you have some good lines to catch tricks and as long as you try to get to them first your money should still be straight.
I think there is a time when everyone makes a choice to take extra shifts or another so called real job but either you stick it out or go our and get a job 5 to 7 days a week and make a go of it that way... it is hard when you get used to working at the clubs and making a certain amount and that changes and makes everything eles hard too... best advice is when you have the money rolling in is to put some asside for times like this. Also maybe change things up too... your look, your clothing choices and give them a variety maybe you will catch the eye of that certain guy out there and will spend all his money on you!
Good luck and hope you make lots of money soon!

well...i danced 13 yrs ago....under the Clinton era and man was it good.....you got paid for just walking down the stairs and talking to the dj......thinking of going back for sev. reasons....i miss it, it was never a chore for me. I hate how so many dancers complain.....who else do you know brings home 200 on a bad nite....that isn't involved in something illegal???? my field is banking, and i am so burnt out on that!!! looking to see how my old club has held up. i am trying to be realistic...consider all the changes economically, etc. it was my only exp. w/ dancing. i was there four yrs. never once saw drugs or dirty stuff, no touching...no tats no piercings...it was a 10 only club. i looked at their website this week.....and hung my head down in dismay.....NOT GOOD!!! so looking to make the drive and be a custy for a few hrs so i can see for myself what the real deal is. i so hope it hasnt fallen completely to this poor economy . Any one else going back after such a hiatus as mine?

^^ exactly!!! when i first started in the 90's...there were retiring strippers from the 80's ....would have loved to have known what it was like then!!!! could have gone either way...tons cuz it was the 80's..or very little.....i feel like because of politics and liquor license issues....there are way fewer now.

that is true.
my hubby recently started a business and guess what - its been 8 months since he's started it, we advertise EVERYWHERE (phonebooks, flyers, craigslist) and he's gotten ONE job. ONE!
It sucks everywhere now. When this recession first started it was mostly the luxury businesses that were affected (travel, adult businesses, luxury cars) but now it seems like MOST of all of the businesses are affected.:'(

I think it goes in cycles. You just need to ride it out and catch the wave when it's up. When I danced full time, there were slow periods and then there were times when the money just flowed like water... We just have to be consistent in what we do and save, save, save!!!

Agreed. So sad. I've only been dancing for two years, but in that two years it gets increasingly harder and harder to do well- especially as a super clean dancer. I have very strict boundaries that I stick to and am looking to transition out of dancing as a main source of income as soon as possible..!

Maybe it's the business model. You can see naked women anywhere now, and stripclubs have turned more into nightclubs. Sometimes I feel like a gypsy lol! Dancing while someone throws a dollar in a hat(in my case it's the stage). I wish we made more money on stage and didn't have to deal with the cr nonsense. Or dont have stage at all then, just private dances. That way no more free shows. Actually I like that idea:)

Yes I agree - the best time to get into ANY business is in a down economy - because that is when you really learn it and have to work really hard to be innovative and find out what works and what doesn't. I'm telling you ladies, if you stick with the stripping you will become a true bad-ass and when the next economic upswing comes you will be so far ahead! ;-) Also check out !

Well, good news ladies, I listen to the wall street journal podcast every morning and it seems like for a few months I've been hearing good things, like there's an upswing in new job creation, and retail sales are higher than estimated.... Things aren't back to normal yet, or close, but if people can see their old lives coming back on the horizon maybe they won't be so afraid to spend anymore.

After the economy went to shit, it became dead in the club where I was working. I have since became a webcam model with amateur girls nude and I love it. I make more doing that, than I did stripping in a bad economy. I would highly suggest getting into that. If you don't wanna quit stripping full time, I would recommend doing it part time to supplement your income. Of course I'm not a millionaire, but it pays the bills and beats me having to leave the comforts of my home.

It wasnt too bad in my club when I finished up dancing in march 2010. I was still having $1k nights, at 8 months pregnant, but that was mainly regulars and creepy fetish guys.
I've heard things are better these days in my home state too
