Unfortunately, too much protein is binding: if you're getting bunny pellets or anything that looks like pressed flowers, that's your intestines compressing during peristalsis trying to get the bad out. It's also a sign of guts behaving badly from IBS, which needs evaluation as it could be a sign that you'll need a colonoscopy earlier than the generic recommended age.

I'm going to take a stab: You were drinking whey protein shakes? A lot of people don't realize that these are actually dehydrating.

You GI story is interesting btw! Thanks for sharing!

Theres a chart here about different types of poo - a friend of mine actually has this on his bathroom wall, lol.

cool scale. I'm a 1 and on a good day a 2....I've never had anything else besides when I was sick.

I don't drink soda much. I do eat spicy food all the time though (I <3 Texas) and a lot of what I eat, I'm sure has a lot of sodium (soup)...I'm gonna try to pick up some more fruits and veggies and see what happens.

Thanks curious!

Yes, and eventually I gave those up because they disagreed with me overall. I was chowing down in one day on several eggs, chicken, cheese, and turkey. I won't dare tell you the serving portions, which were truly obscene.

I eventually saw a nutritionist who said that I better watch it because it's rough on the kidneys to break down that much animal protein.

It's amazing how much nutrition can make a critical difference to your body. A relative had cancer. It was a crash course in seeing how eating choices can directly influence outcome, and how tailored the diet needs to be to the person, who is essentially a unique walking chemistry project.

Wheat/gluten is also very binding and can stop you up quite quickly. Dairy, as well. Since I've removed both from our diets, everyone is hitting the bathrooms several times a day. I've also increased the amount of fruits and veggies we eat (contrary to popular belief, bread does not count as fiber...it binds you) so we're getting natural, water soluble fiber.

If you have trouble pooping, load up on fiber rich fruits and veggies, cut back on the protein (you really should only be eating the equivalent of your palm size in protein) and carbs (mainly carbs made with wheat/gluten...since most of the "fake" carbs are).

Just making those changes to our diet (not easy, but totally worth it), we're feeling much, much better!

Wow you answered so many questions for me. Thanks.
