So by 'pulling' you mean swishing like with mouthwash? Sounds weird, but if more people post about positive experience, I may just have to try it!

^^ I think you sort of 'pull' it back and forth through your teeth

I thought it was "pulling" the toxins out?

It pulls up my vomit, too, Fancy.
I asked this earlier but I will again... does anyone else find the coconut oil hardening in your mouth?

^ if it's pulling up vomit then you're swishing too far back in the mouth.
and if it's just mentally pulling up vomit, well then, I just can't help you with that :)
It pulls up my vomit, too, Fancy.
the kindly smart ass wants to say that this is the oil-pulling trying to heal any remaining ED you might have in you :)
buuuut, I'm just thinking you're mentally grossed out-- so this might not be the issue.
for those who are curious but don't want to go "whole hog" you can brush your teeth and tongue with coconut oil to get some oral health benefits from it.
don't get me wrong-- I get your humor on the subject as I thought the same before I tried it (and I started doing this well over a year and a half ago-- so this isn't some fad for me) but it does work, in multiple ways.
but it's cool for those of you who want to stick to whitening treatments that harm your enamel, or just your toothpaste and toothbrush that hides odors instead of dealing with the root issue.
re: coconut oil:
are you using cold pressed (or it might say expellar pressed) coconut oil? It doesn't have to be extra virgin, but it should at least be virgin coconut oil.
If it meets those two criteria, then I'm not sure what the problem might be-- unless you have an oddly lowered body temp then the majority of people.

Does anyone else's coconut oil start OUT hard? I have to melt it and then swish and next thing I know I have a wax mouth.
And dude, Fancy... I never thought of using it for ED... I should totally keep coconut oil in my handbag for vomiting chicken emergencies.

I think it's not virgin. that sounds like some funky bad coconut oil.
that's not normal.
yeah, and maybe we've found one thing OP isn't good for-- but it'll help any breath afterwards and keep the stomach enzymes from digesting any teeth-- so hey-- some bonus points for the flexibility of OPing

I hate olive oil for this. coconut oil or apricot oil or so many others are so much lighter. olive oil-- bleh.

Buh? I thought coconut oil was SUPPOSED to be hard. Like if it was oily it was bad.

No, mine is "hard" and it is organic virgin.
It's a low heat oil, and it solidifies easier than some oils when it gets cool.
I prefer it "hard" since it's easier to deal with.
Lys, just grab the spoonful and hold it on your tongue for a few seconds before you start swishing.

I read that its best to do it in the morning?
Does everyone do it in the morning?
Do you all brush after?
What other specifications should I follow to do this right?

So I went to GNC today and bought a tub of coconut oil. I've been meaning to anyway for the other hundred and one uses it has.
It was, as it should be, hard, so I rubbed the tub in my hands till the sides melted enough for me to spoon some up.
I've been swishing for just shy of ten min now. My cheeks are getting tired! I'm going o continue this and give a review in a couple days.

Do it when you are in the shower...I just swish, swish, swish as I shower, get out put on some lotion, get dressed, etc & by the time I'm done with my usual routine its been 20 mins and time to spit out the oil. If I was just sitting around counting the time, I'd prolly go crazy.
Oil pulling really works I've been doing it for over a month now and my mouth feels so gross when I go a day or two without doing it. It also makes ur teeth ALOT whiter!

Oilpulling.com says to do it in the AM on an empty stomach. I wonder if it really matters tho.

^Notice any improvements? I'll be honest, I haven't did it in over a week. When I was doing it though, my teeth felt super clean for the entire day. They felt "dentist" clean. I also wasn't having as many headaches as normal.
I only have EVOO and Castor Oil on hand. So, I swish w/ the EVOO currently. I'm gonna start back up tomorrow

I can now call shenanigans. I dont' think a week will do much for you. What were your goals for doing this in the first place? How long were you pulling for?
I admit, I was a skeptic too. I did it for like 17-20min every day for a few weeks. I definately noticed I had less hunger pains, less headaches, and it made me not feel so depressed. I haven't been doing it in a few weeks and now my 'issues' are creeping back in.
Lysondra, give it another week or two. For me..:)

My goals were to prove it did buttkiss. I did it for 20-25 minutes a day with either $60 a bottle olive oil or $3 a bottle coconut oil.
One more week. This shit is nasty... and I think it's staining my newly whitened teeth.

Okay, did my first attempt today. Picked up some EVOO at the store yesterday. Today I filled a shot glass w/ a bit less than half capacity and went to town for about 10 minutes (while reading SW, per CK's advice ;)). After about 7 minutes or so it really liquified and became easy to pull through my teeth. My teeth definitely feel clean but I'm sure it will be a few days before I get any other results from this... but I'm intrigued and willing to give it a go.
The oil taste for the first few minutes is INTENSE, to say the least. Oooooooof. Feels like an oily Irish Car Bomb.

this in passing. coconut oil whitens teeth. so if this

Well, I'll just cross my fingers and hope it doesn't work that way for me...

I don't think it's a permanent staining but people on
curezon have talkedabout their teeth looking yellow
after olive oil use.
if you all went to the curezone oil pulling site to read, you
would have seen this! do your research!

A week? You need longer than a week. Also it pays to research further than sw.
Some op results can be quick, like op to relieve a sore throat or cold. Ive had good results from it as mentioned in one of the other op threads.

...what happened to msqwerty?
Anyway... wanted to bump this thread because this stuff really does detox you! I've done it pretty often for over a week now ... my teeth are so clean! Also, if you spit out into a glass, you can then inspect your oil-pullings for weird things. It's fun but I left my glass out for a couple of days and it started to smell unpleasant. So it really does draw out toxins! Neat. And it gives me something to do while on SW :)

This works for me. I usually use seasame oil (NEVER use Olive Oil for this girls). People have been complimenting my eyes etc too b/c they are brighter. I would say if I am spitting out black stuff it definately works...

It's kind of funny that people are calling it a "scam." It's not a product or a video or anything that people are tryign to sell. It's using oils that you can buy anywhere.

I'm really interested in this, but wouldn't water have the same effect as this? Essentially, you're just gargling for a moderate amount of time...I'm sure water would leave your teeth feeling clean if not cleaner than an oil method, since your swishing around your mouth and getting rid of any built up debris.
I have to read more about it though, I'm skeptical, esp since a lot of people say it's hocus pocus.

I don't know too much, but I remember learning in chemistry class that oil is composed of very long, long, thin molecules. I think the way it works is by 'sticking' to smaller particles and helping to draw them out.
Either way, it is pretty harmless to try out... just swish a few spoonfuls of olive oil (sunflower oil) around your mouth for ten minutes and see if your mouth feels noticeably cleaner for the rest of the way.

Does no one else feel disgusted at the idea of this? I am seriously bad with oiliness in my mouth, there is no way I could swirl any kind of oil around in my mouth for any amount of time without throwing up *shudder*
Otherwise, being a big sucker, I'd totally be trying this :-[
