oops, by "all of them" i only meant 939, femme nu, and rock-za. maybe others are different. i actually dig the military guys in hawaii. are they mostly at centerfolds?

This is makin' me wanna pack up for Hawaii for a bit! I've been looking to take a bit of a working vacay somewhere profitable so maybe this is the place. Would you think it would be worth it to go for a few weeks or is it not a good idea unless you have a month or so to spare? I'm trying to base it around my college schedule ;D

Do you still have to be tested for TB if you've got proof you had the vaccination already? I'm not 100% sure but I think I got my TB booster about a year ago, there was a big drive on campus giving it out.

Thats all you need, is proof of your TB. A few weeks would work... I just would make it seem like your going to stay a little longer if your going to the clubs to get hired - and you did not hear that from me!!!!

Lol, veronica- omg the music IS like that every where in Hawaii! And centerfolds isn't the only place where you see the military guys... although I have to say the least amount of military customers I saw was at Femme Nu. It seemed like there were more locals and tourists at Femme Nu.... there were still military guys, just not as many as centerfolds and 939. But thats just what I've encountered. I think the military guys have learned that they don't get such a warm welcome where the locals hang out... those two crowds don't mix very well from my experience. But thats just what I've seen....

When did you work there Mily and what was your name?

I didn't dance when I was living in HI. I wanted to, but I was in the military at the time, so I knew that just wouldn't suffice. :D I always told my friends I wanted to, though, and they knew I meant it and would most likely do it one day. None of them were really surprised when they found out I got out and decided to finally become a stripper. They knew I 'had it in me.' }:D

There's another thing, though that I didn't really like that I saw in most of the clubs we frequented. It seemed like the girls just circled the stages the whole night while it looked as though they were all having pap smears performed on them. I mean, they just laid there with their legs spread open with the guy only inches between there staring at their 'meow-meows' the entire night. :O They never really danced on stage. They would only move for like a few seconds and then pull out their garter if you wanted them to continue. Is this normal? It was odd to me. Another reason why I am a little hesitant to work in HI. I mean, I actually like to dance and perform on stage in front of an audience-- not be on my back the entire time. :-\

^^ Thats how it works. Hard to dance when there 8 girls on stage at once. You only have a couple feet to 'work' in.

^That's what I figured. So once again it's due to the overcrowdedness. ::)

I don't know. I think that is just what they get used to or since you have to be on stage so often you just get lazy. The other night when I worked I actually danced in my space every time I was up on stage & I noticed I did well since it was different. I doubt I will be able to keep that up as I felt like my legs were going to fall off the following day.

Also some dude had the audacity to ask me "Hey why don't you turn around and do what she's doing?" Which of course, was spreading her vag wide open and shoving it in some dudes face. I told him "I don't take requests" and walked away. He had jumped up right after some other guy was tipping me so I was already naked and asked that without even the waving of a dollar. Ugh. No thanks.

But that was the only one who was even slightly disrespectful. Every other person was rad. Especially this group of Samoans who "made it rain" (that always cracks me up) to keep my bottoms on. Whew.

OMG Mily - 939 is SOOOOOOOO not like that AT ALL! That's why I worked there. I didn't make as much $$ as I did at Femmes, but I had more fun. Centerfolds isn't like that either... but that place is a little strange... and dirty lol.... but we did have actual sets there. The stages weren't like the other clubs. But 939 is where the entertainers go. A lot of pole dancers over there. It's really very classy and you can still make money there. It keeps getting better and better, busier and busier I guess it's finally making it's niche in the market or whatever.

Yeah I'd most def try 939 then. It's really a nice club. great atmosphere ;D And I'd definitely try 939 before i tried centerfolds... the atmosphere isn't so great over there :thumbsdow lol

I agree about the atmosphere at centerfolds...it isn't for everyone. I don't know much about 939, but with all of your praise about it I wish I would have stopped to check it out while I was there! :( Oh well, next time!

I'm heading to Hawaii on Thursday the 31st and staying thru the 17th of August.

-So are all of the "top 3" nude with alcohol?

-What kind of costume requirements/restrictions are there at each place.... bikinis, lingerie, stockings, 2inch thongs, no booty shorts, garter belt, metal lock box, etc

-Also, how does it work, do they call your name to go on stage you get naked up there or are you already naked and then when do you get off, what do you have to wear when you walk around the club.

-and you said they thought it was weird how you were walking around, do you walk around and try to ask guys to buy drinks or just be flirty and they'll offer to buy you a drink,? or are you asking for dances?

-Would my sister be able to JUST cocktail waitress at any of the places? or is there one of these hostess bars close by where she could get a couple nights of work in too?

-what are the best nightlife spots, areas, not SCs, to go to?

-I want to potentially be able to come back for these 2-3 week visits, should I explain this to them or like you said they won't like this, but if I act like I'm there to stay and then bail, when I come back will they let me work again?

So excited. I'm going to try and get my TB test done here before I go,
I'm praying for "rain".

princessparis

1. Yes

2. No requirements... just an outfit you feel comfortable in. Your not even required to wear a garter, but you can't take money with anything other than your hands and your garter so it's very helpful.

3. It depends on the club you work at how the stage rotation works. If your not on stage though you must be clothed and wearing more than a g-string on your bottoms

4. I said it was weird to walk around? It's not that way at all, you're expected to approach customers other wise you won't make that much money.

5. It is VERY difficult to get a job as a waitress at a SC in Hawaii. there is no way anyone would hire a waitress for a few weeks out there. There is just no way. Most of the people who waitress in SCs out there have been doing it for years (except 939... but it's still VERY competitive there amongst wait staff) I honsetly can't think of any other job other than dancing where someone can get such a short term job unless you find odds and ends jobs on craigslist.

6. As for nightlife I'm not a huge expert, but I listed a few spots we go to after work earlier on in the thread.

7. Yeah I'd say that your going to be there for like 3 weeks and that way it won't be so bad if you bail on your last week and they'll most def. be happy to have you come back. Dancers are a commodity out there. We have the upper hand. I think it has to do with it being an island and all...

Good Luck! I hope it works out!

Christ, I wrote a huge response only for firefox to crash on me. Balls.

PrincessParis has some really great advice, that is what helped me chose between clubs here. She has been super helpful! When I got here I worried about all your concerns before quickly realizing that Hawaii is super laid back and pretty much amateur when compared to the way strip clubs in big cities run. No one really gives a crap what you wear or how you present yourself as long as you cover illegal bits, look somewhat attractive and don't act like a total dick. Seriously, I wore my St. Paddy's Day american apparel outfit one night and it was a hit (weird): http://flickr.com/photos/cmyblack/2456775861/in/set-72157604832581755/

Everywhere will hire you and they pay $$$ but it seems to depend on if they like you or you actually show up consistently. I am only here for the summer and I can really only work a couple of days a week. I've noticed at Femme Nu the manager will hold my money until I come in again or pay me less with some bizarre reasoning if I don't come in as much as he likes. I prefer work to be cut and dry with a contract. If a club wants you to be consistent then they should require a schedule. The whole "independent contractor" concept is seemingly lost on Hawaii. Probably because Hawaii is so tiny they are desperate for more/new dancers. But getting paid to work is pretty great!

I would tell them you are here for the summer to experience Hawaii or for personal growth or a yoga retreat or something so you can always flake out if need be ;)

Where do you think you will go? I'm bored off my ass half the time so if you want we can troll the other clubs. I've had an okay time at Femme Nu so far but I want to check out some other ones, and if we're dancers we don't have to pay to at least have a look and talk to managers at each place. The locals are very sweet and tip but I prefer a more touristy environment where I can maximize profit or somewhere I can dance around a pole and feel like an elitist. Yes. I miss dancing, writhing around nudie on stage is so boooooooo-ring.

Where are you staying? Waikiki?

princessparis
07-29-2008, 09:48 PM
Lol I'll be back in March... whoever is out there at the time can thank me with a few drinks at Lulu Ra-Ra's.... or Lotus if y'all are feeling classy :D

Your just there for the summer Veronica? How you likin it so far?

It is true.... we wear whatever we like out there... (as long as we cover our thongs and boobs when not on stage) at 939 some girls would wear gowns but a lot of girl would wear leg warmers!

One girl at Femme Nu would wear these over he top outfits like Naughty Nurse and Little Girl or Bad Police Officer. She was great, is she still there? A little older, quieter, Fake boobs... real nice....

Are you talking about the much older woman who wears the cowboy chaps and hat?! This woman probably in her late 40's or early 50's and super nice - I remember her from when I was here 4 years ago at DejaVu! Wild! I'm just here for the summer but I am loving it - I always look for places to go in the summer to make money and I vote this as pretty great. It never seems too slow.

I just notice the cap on how much you can make really stops at a point. Your estimations were right on. I've been doing $300-$400 weekdays and $500 weekend. But I don't push much. I really wish the club was opened until 4am - people don't seem to kick into gear until midnight for buying dances. I think I would easily make an extra $200 in the extra few hours.

Hope you're doing well in Jersey (is that right?) and you're happy with family. :) I work really hard here, get a lot of excercise, and meet nice people. But no one gets my sense of humor at all - Hawaiians anyway. You notice how everywhere is different? I notice in NYC and Jersey people totally get me - I'm witty and very sarcastic. Here and at home in New Orleans people never really seem to process it and think I'm a weirdo.

They are probably right though ;)

princessparis
07-30-2008, 01:55 AM
I dunno if that's the same lady or not... i don't remember her in a cowboy get up. She is older but really hot tho :)

I totally agree... I think that's why there are so many girls at Exotic Nights - cause that's the only place that's open till 4. Centerfolds is open in the 18 and up part untill 3 so you get a slight rush in that last hour.... but then again that's exotic nights and centerfolds too! Exotics is pretty dead until 2 but as soon as two hits it gets packed even on weekdays!

You know what you NEED to do Veronica? You've got to get into the CR at Femmes... and not with cheap stuff either. There are a few hustlers over there that BANK it but you hardly ever see them cause they're in the CR most of the night. I swear Mr. Kim cashes these girls out at least 800 a night. You must know the types of girls im talking about - they're the ones that drive the brand new luxury cars, usually local hapa girls. Anyways... back when I worked there I didn't have my game down but if I were to go back that's exactly how I'd play it. Seriously PULL the guys back there. read up on HH about getting guys into the CR and I promise you'll do much better. Well I think you will at least..... They always have people in the CRs so why shouldn't it be you? It's fun too cause you can actually dance (you can't at 939) and they have karaoke machines! On halloween a few years ago i went up there with another girl with this super rich old japanese guy and his body guard and we sang karaoke and drank cristal all night it was a blast :)

On a random note - there are a lot of celebrities that go through Femmes... just ask the girls, they'll tell you. If you work there for long enough you'll probably get to dance for one. I got to dance for the director of lost for his b-day and a few of the cast (I didn't watch it back then :(, ) and I danced for the guy who invented the difibulator or something like that... major high roller! Seriously ask around... it's pretty crazy! The sons of Dog the Bounty hunter liked 939 tho. So do the K1 fighters. It's a little less crowded there. But somehow the major players go to Femmes...

Anyways, I'm in CT right now.... I'm just a few das away from havin a baby too! So when my husband comes back from Iraq I'll be makin' the trip back to good old Honolulu :) yay! How long are you staying for?

Veronica504
07-30-2008, 10:51 AM
Meh, I don't care about celebrities - they tend to think they're entitled and don't need to spend money on anything like it should all be handed to them on at @*(&#*@# platter. I like big money businessmen.

I have no trouble selling CRs in certain places, it just depends on the type of clientele. I did one room here with some guys from Vegas but they left pretty pissed after one of the other girls tried to charge him double. I still don't even understand the pricing! It's like you just wing it as you go. The room was creepy all alone - if I had a partner I would be way more into it, I really don't like closed door CRs I think they heavily promote the idea that you're going to get laid back there. Karaoke?! Sounds amazing - I guess I didn't notice that before.

You can give me the scoop - I'm guessing they don't care if you do real dances upstairs right? And probably those cameras are fake? I wasn't sure if I could do a real dance or if someone was going to bust down the door shaking their fist at me ;)

If so, you're defiantly right and selling the CRs would be a big help. I just need to single out the people who might possibly want one. You probably really have to approach people sitting in booths for that.

princessparis
07-30-2008, 01:46 PM
No ways! hit the guys up that go to your stage. The ones at the booths are just chillin a lot of the time. Yeah the CR is the way to make the BIG dollars over there. Your not supposed to do lap dances, but you can dance on the big table. All the same rules apply as they do downstairs. But i do think the cameras are fake... you can just say that they're real to the customer. If your scared of going up there just talk to Tai or whoever is waiting on you... I'm sure he'll be happy to have someone check on you more frequently.

oh yeh, where is 939 near? i want to book a hostel and i dont want to be to far away considering i may be on foot or with a cab :)

It's no where near walking distance to the hostels... they're all up By UH and North shore... 939 is closer to ala moana. Just catch the cab though and make sure you get a hostel in town - not in north shore - and you'll be saving a significant amount than you'd be spending on a hotel / motel. I was going to stay in one by UH and it seemed really nice.

You can take the bus to 939 (say you want to go to wal-mart, which is right across the street from 939 if you need help...) it's a two minute walk from the hostel i was going to stay at to the bus stop and then you can just take a cab back to the hostel. There's a bus that goes directly from that stop to in front of 939. ;D

Ava Adele

im sorry , i dont understand. youre saying theres no hosetls but then you said there was one near by?
i saw a hostel that said it was by ala mona..maby im confused, is that not the same?
is 939 pretty cool with girls with tattoos? also do you know where the liquor comission is located ? is it close by? i have to get that tb thing done tommrow morning and i just want this to go as smooth as possible. im going to spend 5 days in oahu and then go to hilo to visit a friend. thanks alot :)

^What she's trying to say is that your best bet is to just book a hotel room in downtown Waikiki around Ala Moana Blvd., where the club is located. Cabs and buses are everywhere around Waikiki/Honolulu--it's just like any other big city in the US. Unless there are hostels in Waikiki I don't know about (princessparis?). The North Shore is on the complete opposite side of the island, you don't want to stay there.

ediblecrayonz
08-05-2008, 09:12 AM
There is a hostel right next to Wailana coffee house. Between that and Cheeseburger in Paradise. On the end of Ala Moana Blvd. I've never been in though, and its kind of a hole in the wall. That is definitely walking distance. Maybe a mile and a half. But nearly everything is walking distance in Hawaii. My husbands best friend once got really drunk at my club, ran out of money (so he couldn't afford a cab), and decided to run back to the Navy base. It took him nearly three hours but he made it on time for duty.

Mily
08-05-2008, 09:22 AM
Ugh. I don't think I would want to stay at a hostel in Waikiki, lol. Then again... I'm spoiled. :P

Funny about your hubby's friend. My friends and I used to get drunk all the time and leave our cars in Fort Derussy Parking Lot and catch cabs back to the base, or when we were REALLY fucked up, we would just get a hotel room for the night. It was too easy. :D

I'm sorry bu I didn't make this post so girls can work for like less than a week then jet.

I mean a few weeks is OK, but to just go and USE the club that I used to work at and am very fond of like that is RUDE IMO. If your going to use the info in this thread to get a job out there PLEASE stay for at least a few weeks for the girls sake. Id be pretty pissed if you came to my club and KNEW that you were only going to work for a few days.

I don't want the girls in Hawaii to have to deal with overnight workers just cause I put this thread up so please be respectful of that so if that's what your going to do just do me a favor and don't tell me about it k??????????? I'm personally not going to answer questions for anyone who intends to use Hawaii to make a quick buck then jet. At least stay a bit so that the girls can get to know you and enjoy the island!

Not only that but your asking questions that I've already answered in this post and your not even reading what i wrote! i said: 939 is no where near walking distance to the hostels... they're all up By UH and North shore. Where the hell did you get that I said that there aren't any hostels?????? I guess I'm was wrong - I was born and raised on Oahu.... i really have never had the need for hostels.

Sorry... It's just frustrating cause I was warned that SW girls could start to flood the islands and I just hope that everyone who reads this and decides to work is respectful out there cause I promise if I hear of any SW girls not being respectful of other girls and the clubs out there I will delete ALL of my posts.

BTW Wailana coffee house is about a 45 min walk to 939

I would take everything to PMs from now on like I said before, princessparis.

Excuse my bluntness, but a lot of girls in this thread rarely even post at all and are asking for a piece of the 'paradise pie' all of a sudden. ::) I mean, COME ON... that is very rude IMHO.

lol, you don't even know how many PMs I've gotten about Hawaii so far!

I don't mind so much if they are going for extended vaycay or going there to live cause that takes at least a little bit of commitment.... but come on.... 5 DAYS???????? lmao puhlease!

wait, i know plenty of girls who travel a whole lot and go to a club for a week or so. working vacations are very common, we get them on the constant in portland.
i appreciate your information alot, however it just didnt make sense the way it read.
thanks :)

princessparis

mmm... not in hawaii... if you tell the manager that your only going to be there for a few days theres no ways he'll hire you.... not at 939 at least.

It's actually super rare to see a girl come in for like a few nights then jet when your in Hawaii. I've seen vacationers come for a couple weeks but no shorter than that...

But it is really rude to the girls to do that... i mean imagine if there were TONS of girls that did that just work for a couple nights then jet - how do you think the girls would feel having to work with new girls ALL the time? I personally like to KNOW who I'm working with and not have to deal with transients coming and going all the time.

Please, if you go to the club BE UP FRONT ABOUT HOW LONG YOU PLAN ON STAYING. That is the most respectful thing to do for the management and the girls.

If I hear of girls working for a couple nights then jetting and lying about how long they plan to stay I WILL REMOVE ALL OF MY POSTS out of respect for the people that actually work in Hawaii on a permanent basis.

If I were you I would go with banana bungalow in waikiki.
unless you're ready to hoof it for an hour, you won't be walking to 939 although the 13 bus runs right from your hostel pretty much to the club then a cab home.

rock-za and femme nu are closer. walkable and tons of buses drop you off very close by.

if you want super convienience - hawaii by night is only a few blocks from most waikiki hostels although i have not checked that place out and i think most of your money there comes from dances - which at the moment vice is really cracking down on the no touching at all rules.

Also, I don't see why it would be rude for someone to go work anywhere for a week. That is really common in many places in the US, a lot of clubs hire out for that amount of time, they want new faces coming and going. I mean we ARE strippers, our job is fluid. That is the business. The longer you stay, the more you put in for the place the better they treat you. I expect girls to be rude to me/ignore me as a newbie. I expect management not to do me any favors. In turn, if I put in my time things change, if not, I jet.

Maybe girls see it differently as they pay you in Hawaii, management seems to see it differently too, as though they own you. Not being allowed to work at other clubs at one time is also very strange to me. I prefer to have a few to juggle at once depending on my mood, I decide where to work on a given day.

Maybe girls see it differently as they pay you in Hawaii, management seems to see it differently too, as though they own you. Not being allowed to work at other clubs at one time is also very strange to me. I prefer to have a few to juggle at once depending on my mood, I decide where to work on a given day.

Seriously, it's really uncommon at the clubs I've worked at and it is not welcome. It may be welcome in other places, but it's not at all in Hawaii. It's just not cool. Think about how many people would love to go to Hawaii and work for a couple nights then leave if it was OK.

I mean... one or two girls doing it every now and then isn't going to bother anyone probably but if there's a couple girls that only work a few nights then jetting EVERY WEEK the permanent girls are going to start to get pissed off.... and probably at me for posting this info!!!

If I go back there and get attitude from even one girl about posting this info - or hear ANYONE bitching cause girls have been coming and going through their clubs I swear to god I'm going to take it down.

We like to feel secure where we work in Hawaii.... thats one of the great things about working there - that everyone knows each other and no one is going to screw one another over. When girls come and go as they please your adding in an unknown element - we don't know who you are, and it's not like your staying on the island so we can get to know you either. We don't like that.

Anyhow, staying for a few nights to work at the club then jetting is not OK... it's disrespectful to the people who live there and work there on a long term basis who want to work in a safe and consistent environment. I'm asking everyone who uses this thread for information to work in Hawaii to respect that.

You see it's a lot like littering... if a few people do it it's not so bad.... not good, but not intolerable.... but if there's a whole bunch of people doing it the aggregate effect sucks for the people that have to live with it. The Hawaiian Islands are a very special place and we already have so many people that take advantage of being able to come and go as they please and treat the islands how they like and then get on a plane.

We have to deal with a lot of visitors out there already that do as they please cause they're just going to leave the next day, so they don't care about what they do and how it effects those of us that live there. So yeah, it's kind of a sensitive issue.

I don't mind answering questions especially when people get to go to Hawaii, have a good time, and are respectful of those that live there. Just please be upfront about how long you intend on staying with management.

hey all im sayin is that it happens everywhere, most ladies are used to it. its not like this is some hardcore industry where you work with the same people all the time. i do sometimes, but flexiblity is key, if you werent flexiable then you wouldnt be able to do this job right?
i personally cant see why its not okay due to the fact that ,"thats life", but thats good to know how the local gals feel about it ..

Just be upfront about how long you plan on staying with everyone over there, thats all im asking.

And just cause you don't get why it's so important to not show off your midriff in Middle Eastern countries doesn't mean that you won't get shot if you do. My point: things are different in different places and if you don't show your respect to local customs and ways then be prepared for the consequences.... not only to your self, but the consequences to others as well.

lmao so you met big joe eh? sadly enough with the kind of girls that work there he doesnt have to resort to rape to get shit from half of them. one time he pinned me against the wall as i was leaving and licked my ear and said all kinds of nasty shit all up in my ear - breathing on my neck ew it was horrible but i couldnt leave cause i wasnt 21 and i could dance anywhere else on island. not to mention the first ps i gave him(for "training") he touches you to "teach you how to handsy customers" He is really gross
