How do you ruin a wok?

I burned what I was making... and when I tried to clean off the burned bits, it took off the coating on the wok. :-[
Maybe you should start with crock pot recipes. That's how I learned.

Thwow the wok at a wabbit. Go to the grocery store and look in the frozen foods section for complete frozen meals such as lasagna, Swedish meatballs on noodles, chicken fajitas, etc. Follow the instructions, and you have a meal.

exactly. simple stew-like stuff.... you can learn how fast things cook (diff. veggies have different cooking times, etc.) and make some pretty hearty stuff.
also, for baking... start with an easy recipe (like traditional choc. chip cookies or cornbread) and once you feel comfortable you can start mixing it up and experimenting a bit.
btw- you can always stir-fry in a normal pan. light dusting of pam, a bit of olive oil, some soy or teriyaki sauce, throw in your veggies/meat at different times (carrots-longest, broccoli-shortest, etc.) and voila!

One other thought--whoever said the woman had to do the cooking?
I have friends where the husband does all the cooking. When we visit their house, the wife sits in the living room and entertains while the husband rustles up the goodies in the kitchen. When asked why he does all the cooking, he replies, "Because I like to eat good food."

Kitten, I'd be really worried that you are going to ditch a schedule like that in a week (are you expecting it to be done in a week? If so, don't worry about it). You're setting yourself both something really higher than what you are used to, and just something... really high and unreasonable. You will be surprised at how fast you will sort it out if you say, schedule 2 hours a day for cleaning every day, and maybe 3 or 4 once a week.
As for the cooking; try a book or website that gives you a good step by step. What I personally hate is developing menus. I'm big on the one bowl meal. Try Allrecipes "Quick and Easy" section. Rumor says that they are quick and easy.

Keep in mind - pasta is your friend. Buy a loaf of Italian bread, crumble some goat cheese on spaghetti, you have food, you know? Lasagna is just layering and baking; as long as you remove it from the oven approximately on time, you are good.

They've cut back hours a ton. Right now they'd have to fire someone to give me any more hours. But I get health insurance for just that one day a week, so I keep it around, yanno?
