Where could I find the rhinestone jewelry everyone's talkng about, like the chokers etc.? I have looked in Claire's and those kinds of mall stores and I don't think I've seen that kind of thing.
Check out department store jewelry counters. I've found some really cute sets at Macy's.

I cant stand tacky shit. If I'm gonna be a stripper, I'm gonna have a little class as icing on the hussy cake!
Like I said, the rich old dudes often like the classy shit and lets face it, rich old dudes are primo targets!
You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig. The sex industry is still the sex industry no matter how much "class" you put on it.
If you try to impose some bullshit stripper heirarchy/ pecking order you're just doing yourself a disservice.
And for the record, many rich guys, young and old, are into the tackiest, trashiest, freakiest shit. If they want classy they can stay home and fuck their classy wives.

I work with this one girl who tries SO HARD to put a classy facade on and it becomes tacky and hilarious. She has a (what I and many others think is fake) heavy British accent and tries to sound like Audrey Hepburn in the second half of My Fair Lady, super prim and proper. She is so prissy with the other girls, she goes out of her way to correct anyone making a joke about stripper stereotypes. She wears her hair up in really eleaborate updos, always wears rhinestone earrings/chokers/necklace, and really lacy frilly lingerie. She dances to the most dramatic songs by Portishead and Bjork and guys sit there like dogs watching TV. The whole effect is so funny it becomes unclassy. She just looks weird.

I think variety helps in clubs. To each their own, etc.
In other news, check out the gown I just ordered.:

We have very strict regulations regarding our gowns (nothing on snaz75 or flirt or anything would ever be allowed through the door) which makes it really hard to find something for less than a couple hundred dollars and still looks good.

Wow... Flirt's has some really pretty gowns by Nom De Plume. I'm surprised your club won't allow them. Any idea why?

Flirt has some great gowns. Unless you're singing on a piano, I don't see why any club would say no to them.... especially one in Ohio...

Gowns must be full-length and completely beaded and/or sequined.
Stretchy gowns tend not to fit those standards. It's a pain in the ass, because the dresses that fit those rules tend to not be designed to be taken on and off two or three times a day.
We also have rules regarding what kind of dancing we can do (i.e., no floor work while nude), what kind of outfits we wear on the floor, etc.

Eh. It comes off really well. The customers love it.
It's a little surreal sometimes, though. At the beginning of the night shift, they introduce each girl (name, fake bio) and make us walk down the runway stage and line up along the stairs on either side. It looks like a sexed-up beauty pageant. haha
And just because the club is in Ohio, doesn't mean it's a dive or whatever it is you're implying.

.
I have a hard enough time taking off stretchy gowns... I can't imagine having to put on and take off a non-stretchy gown a few dozen times a shift. Sorry you have to put up with that. :-\

i do the whole thrift store thing. i get cute stuff i can hack up and make my own for around $5. although, i would invest in a stripper "gown" if i found one that looked amazing on me.
buuuuut... gowns don't make $ at my club. so i'm not really that concerned about them.

Oooh I have an awesome beaded gown (thrift store!) I wanna wear to work. I don't think it would go over well though. I want to make a tour of other people's clubs.

Guenevere, it's a Terani that I got on E-Bay. I spent $250 on it, but I'll make it all back in a night.
i.breathe.in, thanks for the back up.
Corgan, I've tried the thrift store thing, too, just to no luck. I'm a hard fit with really picky taste.
RoseLeigh, come see me here. PM me and I'll tell you the club.
Sophia, it's actually pretty easy to get out of a gown (assuming it's the right cut/neck style). You just unzip and slip out. Stretchy ones have the whole cling factor going on. I wore a stretch pleather gown for a fetish event and I hated life. haha

You may be a ballerina in addition to being a stripper, but unless you "dance for strangers in colorado" in pointe shoes and a tutu, you are still a stripper and you aren't better than anyone else.
You may wear a gown and rhinestones, but you are still taking it off, just like the rest of us.

I love that cheetah dress. It's great! If my club wasn't into fencenets and neon thongs I'd totally wear it, assuming I could get it off really easily.
I wear a dress from a teen store in the mall and get complements all the time. I think most girls who actually wear clothes while walking the floor where regular clothes, be it vests or boyshorts or dresses, but obviously all clubs are different.

my first stripper gown was bought at a goodwill in portland. it was red, stretchy and had thigh high slits. wasn't TOO flattering but it did the job for the couch dances.
the second one I had was also bright freaking red. I hated it. It cost 110 dollars and I was pressured into buying it by the costume ladies and the manager because i needed a gown for main stage at stars cabaret. It was weird... like it had a cown in the front and the back, which resulted in two extra long straps that were always falling down. it was horrid. i never even sold it, i just left it on my front stoop w/ an ad on craigslist for free stripper stuff the night i left to go back to fl.
the third gown i have is a fuschia/hot pink long skirt set i got made by the costume lady on morrison... it's gorgeous. it's a cowl neck halter top with crystals all over it, and a skirt with darts in the butt that are really flattering and thigh high slits, with crystals all over it. i love it!! it's not really a gown, but it's formal-ish.
i'm going to get a nice new gown at the local shop here because there are a lot of nice ones, they're mostly forplay and other random stripper brands, but i dont see how i could ever wear a gown meant for a prom or formal dance in a club.
i like this one... but probably not in pink.

and ps--- i'm watching the hooters pageant right now and they're all wearing stripper dresses!!! well.. most of them. lol.

Hence why I keep them to an absolute minimum. For the most part, if I'm gonna wear some sparkly-shiny jewelery, it's gonna be real...and I'm not gonna let it out of my fucking sight. I have a small brooch that I add to my dress that is actual diamonds with moonstones and it looks a whole lot better than some junk from Claires, but I never leave it in my locker.
I've just found that FOR ME, the classy-elegant angle seems to work better than the tacky-trashy side.

Wha?? You pick ONE dress from Macys.com and that's your proof? Go into the store and you'll see what I mean. If not there, then Deb's or Dillards...they are there. I've witnessed it myself.
Same here.
Some of the dresses girls wear to prom now are less than I wear at work, lol!
This would make a perfect work gown though.
