Yeah well, I got my own special sort of passive agressive revenge on him last night. He may have recieved a tip out, but it didn't even amount to 5% of what I made, lol.

Ah yes..."Walking the tight rope" LOL. He plays that at least 2-3 times a shift it seems like. I just think it is odd that there are 2-3 songs he plays multiple times every shift he works. I think it is a bit of a floor killer for custies to hear the same song several times.

Sorry your custie walked out! That would have pissed me off too >:( !

Jesus, that's the fucking Cialis song? I don't get much demand for that stuff anymore, but thank god I know not to ever play it, lol!

You make an excellent point about the killing of floors as well.

Some floors will be laid low by songs other floors could shrug off easily, I suppose--like honky tonk country in a hip-hop club will be serious trouble. In Kentucky there might not be a problem. Repetition will make any song more deadly, too.

But then of course there are levels of lethality some songs possess, such that no club could survive without death or severe crippling. One of the dayshift dancers picked some Celine Dion shit from the jukebox they use before I get there the other day. I walked right back out of the club after dropping my stuff in the booth...

Stripping to Celene Dion...is that possible?!

I had a custie today who I was having an awesome time talking music with. He was an AFI fan too so we were having a blast singing the chorus to Cruise Control and whatnot at top volume so I offered to see if n00b had any old skool Afee on him cause he said he did the other day. I go up and ask, he says he didn't bring it today so I'm like, "whatevs, just give me some East Bay goodness!"

I make it back to the guy's lap and just as I sit down..."Amaranth, check sound." PHUK! So I go back to the booth and he's all, "I got it! Hows about some Tiger Army?!" BRILLIANT! I'm so excited to do it that I grab him, give him a peck on the cheek and run off.

What does he play...?

Forever Fades Away, arguably the pussiest Tiger Army song on the planet. Total East Bay Hardcore Fail and my cool custie just waltzed out for a cigarette.

Luckly this one came back though, lol.

"No One" Alicia Keys.

Before I got there, these women were playing it at midnight on a fucking friday night!

I know. I think this song should stay as far away from strip clubs as possible. At my last club we had a girl who would play it every stage she had.

'In The Air Tonight' Phil Collins

I mean, I like the song, but it kinda doesn't make sense in the club.

Ya gotta do the Nonpoint version. It rocks.

Basically, IMO, any song that is super female-power oriented, depressing, or really any band/song that turns men off should be avoided.
I have heard songs that I can't believe how stupid girls can be to play....I mean make guys run the other direction, ya know?

FIRST AND FOREMOST:
"Before He Cheats" by Carrie Underwood.....why, why, WHY?!!

Then there's.....
"U and ur hand" by Pink
"Unpretty" TLC
"Call me when your sober" Evanescence
"I don't want you back" Eamon

I used to work with a woman who would play "Angel's Son" by Sevendust and cry for her whole stage. Apparently her son died (which is sad) but why dance to a song that's so personal and makes you cry? I mean I felt sorry for her but when she'd do it everyone, customers included, would get really uncomfortable.

I once had to fight a flashback to my dad's death on stage when some DJ I don't even remember played Shadow Of The Day by Linkin Park. First and last time I will ever dance to that one!

As much as I love my rainbowie bands, I thoroughly believe folks like Boy George and Mika, as awesome as they may be, are not built for strip club usage. I think Queen is cool enough to be pulled off under certain circumstances and there's a few Scissor Sisters songs that are great to dance to simply for pure raunch factor (thank you Ana Matronic for allowing me to lip-synch a fake orgasam on stage!) but for the most part, if the band comes off as kinda to completely flamboyant, they should be kept out of the club.

That's a classic example of a DJ slitting his own throat, and everyone else's in the club as well. Such men (or women, if the DJ is female) should be peremptorily dragged outside and shot.

There's female strip club DJs?! I could have sworn that there was a law against that somewhere.

It does seem like it sometimes, doesn't it? There are a number of reasons for this, I think--not all of them good.

First and foremost is the attitude of management/ownership. The same guys that prefer cheezy, nasal-voiced blathering no one can actually understand in their DJs tend to want male DJs as well. Women acting in unusual roles tends to scare them.

The women considering a role in the stripping business also naturally gravitate towards dancing rather than DJing. No technical expertise or musical knowledge is required, only the guts to get onstage.

Another factor that might be of some relevance is the tendency for guys to identify with the DJ, being another male. Though this is hardly crucial, it might be of some bearing. This makes me wonder if the DJs in male strip clubs are male, female, or maybe gay males, lol. God knows I wouldn't do it.

I have generally found the kind of guys who play stupid fucking joke songs because they think they are funny, over and over again every night, tend to have low egos. They often compensate by bragging or playing the Stud DJ, if they can get away with it, which they often can in the bigger clubs.

What about a lesbian DJ?}:D She could identify with the guys.....

We have a female DJ on Mondays and Tuesdays. I trained her, she's awesome, and she has a total phonesex voice on the mic. She's actually a member here, she just never posts.

It can happen, as has just been pointed out. I worked with an awesome female DJ who also danced as well. I trained her a bit but it really was hardly necessary, she had had radio experience which is why I egged her on to try it in the club. I posted about her a couple years ago I think.

A lesbian DJ might work, but the one I saw/heard wasn't very good. That's just one, though. I suspect there might be pretty good ones in the lesbian stripclubs, rare as those clubs might be. There was one in Daytona for a while.

That's actually who I was thinking of when I said a good female DJ would be the hottest thing ever. :)

It's been a while since anyone's posted to this thread and I think it should be revived!

My latest contribution:

Fergie "Big Girls Don't Cry"

Gag me with a fucking spoon....and I'm sure all the guys would agree.

Last weekend this song was actually played:

The dancers on the backstage froze in their tracks, and several customers made a b-line for the exit!

In El Paso this chick always danced to Celine Dion "The power of love" I have to give her some leeway, however. She didn't speak any English. I knew this chick who danced to MC hammer and Vanilla Ice. *shudder*

When I used to work somewhere we had our own juke box instead of a dj (lol) I would play Everytime by Britney Spears as the last song of the nite at bar time so people would get the fuck out and hahah!

Haha, I get that! Sometimes you just want everyone to go no matter if they are a cool crowd or not.

One club in Daytona used to play Frank Sinatra 'When I was 17 it was a very good year...' every fucking night at closing, except the two nights I worked there anyway. It got me out everytime. There are a couple Frank songs I like, but that's not one of them. I want to do a punk version really badly, though.

OK, I discovered a new level of lethality in floor killers, it's Frank doing 'Girl From Ipenema'. This one latina at my club is totally hung up on it. Even Frank's fans hate this song, why she wants to hear it so much is beyond me. The CD vanished somehow, I have no idea who lost it.
