It froze for me on my registration tests, but for that I just logged out and logged back in. I was really confused about the simulator test. I think I failed it cuz of that. I guess just have her try again, there's also confusion on how many questions you have to answer, some places it says 15, others it says 10. I answered 10 cuz that's what it says before you log into take the test.

You have to answer 15 questions. You can log out and log back in while taking the simulator test, but not during the fitness tests.

Honestly, I couldn't tell someone who failed why they failed and why I passed. I got a total score for my tests, but it didn't say what I got right or wrong, only a percentage (I got 80%). I did get a 100% on my typing, but that's because I'm a typing whiz. :D

I have a suggestion for anyone intimidated by the typing section of the test.
I was a publisher and copy-editor for a bit over two years at an indy press. There is a technique that has been very valuable for me which I picked up in the trade.
The writing section of the test is approx. six sentences long. DO NOT PAY ATTENTION TO THE FACT THAT ITS TIMED.
Each sentence will scroll across and they want you to type it verbatim in a box below. Wait for each sentence to scroll and one at a time, read them and then write them from memory. No one cares where you look as long as you write the complete sentence. Do not stop to correct yourself until you've finished entirely. Once you are done, correct one sentence at a time READING ONE WORD AT A TIME working from right to left from the bottom up. You read each sentence backward because this will keep you from focusing on the sentence itself and more on proofing the correct spelling of each word.
When you have proof-read each word of each sentence, re-read the text one sentence at a time top to bottom from the original, comparing it to your own. Again, this is only about six sentences. Pay attention to details like punctuation and capitalization. Spelling errors will always show themselves if you have an automatic spell-check in your program. Periods, commas and capital letters for trick words to be used as proper nouns (I found some really sly ones in there) are much harder to spot than the occasional "teh" (my most common spelling error).

And keep telling yourself, "Its only six sentences" and slow down. You have more than enough time to finish.
I hope this helps.;D
Good luck!

We have some news to share with you. Starting July 17th at 12:00pm EDT, all new, incoming Text (SMS) Guides will receive “Apprentice Pay” while they are developing their skills as Guides and becoming acquainted with the system. All Apprentices will receive $0.15 per transaction as opposed to the $0.20 that our full-fledged Guides currently receive. Any Guide who has passed the Simulator test and who has been activated as a full-fledged Guide into the ChaCha system by 11:59am EDT on July 17th will not be affected by this change.
All new Guides will remain “Apprentices” until the three following criteria have been met:
1. The Apprentice has been a Guide for at least 30 days.
2. The Apprentice has completed at least 1,000 paid searches.
3. The Apprentice has a quality score of 92% or above.
Once the first two criteria are met, an Apprentice’s work will be reviewed by our Quality Control team. If quality is 92% or above, the Apprentice will be promoted to full Guides and will receive $0.20 per transaction. If quality is below 92%, the Apprentice will be instructed on how to improve and will be reviewed again after 30 more days have lapsed.*

Dude, I just re-read this whole thread and came across this! Damn! I really hope they send me a simulator test tomorrow so I can cram in before they dock the pay! Aargh!>:(

It's been like four days and they haven't sent me the test. Should I re-register?

I think they might be holding off approving new guides until after that changes take affect because I took the stimulator test 2 days ago and haven't recieved a reply. At first I only answered 10 though, because thats hat the directions told me to do, but after reading here, I logged back in and answered 5 more yesterday...

Well, at least they're not making us be voice transcribers. That would be so lame at 4 cents per transcription.

So true. I don't think the general public needs to deal with hearing my raspy, scratchy voice telling them random stuff anyway.

I really really wanted to do this. I have no idea why the fuck I failed. Was it because of he stupid ass math questions? How the fuck do I know the answer to if X times 60 = 432 then what does x times 50 =?
I never claimed to be a math genious. I just know how to use google.

fuck. really wanted to do this. Im going to try again with a different email...but they have my real name and address on file, so it might not work...

Okay x must be 7.2 because 7.2 times 60 = 432. Figure this out by dividing 432 by 60. So then take 7.2 and multiply it by fifty which is 360.

I suck at math but I had to learn how to do stastics for my Stastics For Behavioral Psych class.

I passed. I got 100 typing & 93 on the other 2 tests. Then I answered 31 qs. I've tried to answer qs twice since then, but I'm not receiving any.

Peanut_Butter
07-16-2008, 09:54 AM
^ 31?
Holy shit. You know you only need to answer 10 or 15, right?

You did read the part in the directions where it says you have to keep track of what you answer because their system does not....

Well, I took my Simulator test, THEN I find out that Wikipedia is blacklisted. I used it as a reference on at least two questions. Fuck.

The system keeps track in your profile, it just doesn't alert you to when you are done with the simulator test.

well..day 1: I got my hired confirmation at about 4:30pm. I went straight to work and did it with pretty much no breaks until 9:00pm. I made $8.60. :-\
The load times are so very slow, even if I can do a search in under a minute, the pages takes freakin 3-4 minutes each time to come up, so I'm only managing to answer 1 question every 5 minutes or so. Add to that the fact that sometmies, even if i click to accept a query as soon as it pops up, half the time it gets intercepted by a different guide.
I'm not impressed as far. I'm making like 1.50 an hour....
I dnd't exppect miracles or anything...but how the fuck are people makign a few hundred a week? By doing nothing but sitting here for 24 hours a day?
I'd be happy with $100 a week, but that's going to be very tough to do.

Some questions take me about 3-4 min. But majority take me less than 1min.

Anyone else get repeat questions?

AlexxaHex
07-16-2008, 09:32 PM
3-4 minutes for the page to load? That's crazy.

I submitted my info. Just to see what's up. This kind of thing would be perfect for me during the baby's naps and stuff.

CuriousSeeker
07-16-2008, 09:33 PM
^PB, I wondered the same, even if the load times were very speedy.

It's an entertaining thing, and I'm not opposed to some money for my usual time spent fooling on the net, especially if I'm trapped in a waiting room. (Or as it would be right now, waiting for the eggs to boil as I stir some spinach and onions.)

But as an income, I don't think this could be anything to count on.

I noticed that this evening was major lag-oh-rama. It finally cleared up after midnight. I made about $30 total for the evening, but it's a good thing time wasn't an issue. They keep updating the servers, so hopefully that'll improve peformance.

Oh, one trick: if your query rate slows down, log out and log back in. It'll pick up again.

LilyLove
07-17-2008, 01:08 AM
Since they gave me the error message, when I try to log in they say my account has been suspended :( What does that mean?
