I suppose its nice when people just love their work so much that they saturate the market and drive down the value of it.
Some of us really like dancing. I can honestly say I love my job. I have always liked it and have always gotten a big kick out of it. It's fun and makes me feel good about myself. Sure, I have bad nights like anyone else, but by and large I am satisfied with my job as a dancer.
ChaosFairy:
I understand what you are saying. It can be exceedingly difficulty for new college grads to break into the job market (much more so than most people over 40 really understand) and it can be very difficult to transition out of dancing. That's not just in Portland, that's anywhere. (Although minimum wage up here is $8.75. Maybe you should consider a move). But you are never going to make the fabled $200 a day at a desk job if you don't break into the market. We're not talking about comparing $600 a day to an entry level wage. We're comparing an entry level wage to making $150-200.
