^ Thanks, Lena! 8) You had me going for a minute there, TOO... ;) Um, yeah, okey dokey... never mind. :-[
No, no and no. The events actually did happen that way, but people are drawing the wrong conclusions.
This is what I meant when I said that I was going to regret this six ways from Sunday when I was sober in the morning! LOL All the Harry Potter references were not enough to make it funny after all.
OK, let's clean up the thread. I'll delete out everything and ask for some help from the mods.
I should not have posted anything about B without her being here, whether drunk, in jest or otherwise.
I'll update this post after the other posts are deleted.

TOO, just a helpful hint, but I think due to the past reactions EVERY SINGLE FREAKING TIME maybe it might be a really, really awesome idea for you to stop talking about your money and your habit of sending it to certain strippers on the internet. Few people see the humour, even when you attempt to post in 'jest', and every single time you end up having to call on us mods to clean up the mess.

I'm pretty sure Bridgette is thinking: "Whoops! Shouldn't have left SW. Stupidly missed out on 20 grand. Story of my life."
No, that's not what I said. I'll clarify in a sec. after cleaning up.
Anyway, I apologize if this offended anybody. Sincerely.
No more drunk posting from me except in the Drunk Thread.
Alaska, can you please delete your post that has the full text of my original post? That way we can get rid of it entirely.

Darcy, the last time I mentioned anything about money was about three months ago, about the time I stopped talking about site sponsorship completely. Under normal conditions, it's completely off the table now.
That post above was supposed to be funny, but it's hard to judge funny in that condition.
This is me regretting it six ways from Sunday.....:-\

Why didn't you simply duck the SW drama and take a dime piece to the tropics with the $20K "burlap sack" instead? :-\
IMO, that would have been far more gratifying--and infinitely more discreet--than the present scenario...

Yep, and we appreciate you not talking about it, but even after a 3 month break, very few people see any humour in you making ridiculous claims that you were going to send B $20,000 in a sack. I'm not going to argue the point, but considering you pretty much have a 100% strike rate of causing drama every time you mention your thousands of dollars, I just think it might make a whole lot of sense if maybe you didn't mention it. It's just one of those things that is NEVER going to be received well by the majority.

^ It's in Florida, along the coast.
I've deleted all the offending posts, guys.
ETA: I apologize to B. for posting about her in her absence. Even drunk, in jest, or whatever, it was unacceptable and rude and I apologize.
The burlap sack episode had nothing to do with B.'s leaving SW. It coincided with the appearance of the "explanation" thread, that's all. She explained in great detail why she chose to leave. Just for the record, I practically begged her to stay, I miss her and I regret that she is no longer on the forum. I think SW is a significantly diminished place without her and several other long-time members.
I also apologize for raising the money issue, breaking the moratorium I had in place, all in a failed attempt at humor.
We now return you to full silence on that issue, and the others, even in jest.
If I ever try to post drunk again, will somebody please, for the love of God, just shoot me?

...Even in Vegas or NYC or Toronto, like many men who share my philosophy, I'll just buy out a few girls' nights and we'll all sit around talking, playing games, laughing and having insane amounts of fun.
It's just this thing. This thing of ours. Well, not that thing. But our thing.
Darcy, the last time I mentioned anything about money was about three months ago, about the time I stopped talking about site sponsorship completely. Under normal conditions, it's completely off the table now.
Well, TOO, at the risk of "piling on", I'll note that you referenced $$$ the day before yesterday in the "Hourly chat rate" thread. I'll refrain from researching further instances and merely conclude that your estimate was inaccurate.
May I be frank (instead of "Budai")? Personally, your $$$ don't offend me as much as your persistent preening and your overdeveloped sense of entitlement. IMO, you're gradually approaching the level of a caricature.
P.S. No PM necessary.

^ You'll recall at the top of that thread I said, "Against my better judgment, I'm going to post in this thread." ;D
The poster had claimed that many dancers charged $300 an hour for conversation, but "no customers here pay that." I wrote my post in response to that -- to show that in fact men do. I was trying to support the dancers whe seemed to be hanging out there saying they charged it, while none of the guys said they paid it.
It was also why I referred to "men who share my philosophy." I wanted to broaden it to include a much larger group than me.

Random cliche of the day: The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result every time.
How many times can you say the same exact things, follow them with the same exact excuses, and expect to get a different reaction??...
This sequence is becoming a running gag on SW:
1.TOO starts with the tall tales about his wealth and superhuman generosity.
2. Gets called on being a braggart.
3. Immediately starts the "oh come on! It was a jooooke!", followed with "I was only trying to....[four paragraphs of platitudes], making sure he reminds us exactly how many days and hours it's been since his last bragging episode, all the while managing to appear more vain, disingenuous and condescending with every post.
How hard can it be to just stop doing this?!
We get it man. You got money.
Let it go already.

Not that I didn't deserve it. I did. My mistake was that I chose to ignore that little voice whispering to me in the wee hours, "You are going to be sooooo fucked. Don't do it!"
Anyway, come to the party earlier next time. I'm just saying there will be more meat on the bone for you to chew on. It will make you happier. You'll find that more satisfying for your belly compared to the shards of skin and bone hanging from the trees. ;D

Nobody ripped you to shreds. People confronted you about your innappropriate behavior. There is no need to be all manipulative and start that "poor TOO, the mean girls are ripping him to shreds," shit. You could just acknowledge what you are doing wrong, thank people for bringing it to your attention, and stop. But since you chose to be passive aggressive and manipulative instead, I'll tell you again: KNOCK THAT SHIT OFF. This is not a strip club. The reason people haven't let this go, is because as usual, you are trying to pass it all off as "humor" when it is crystal clear what you're doing and why you do it. It is a pattern that people are fed up with.

I'm trying to figure out if the property has any equity in it at all.
The $40m note for a custom-built house would have been a construction loan, so the finished property would have been worth more, even in a flat market. But the real-estate markets are down sharply pretty much everywhere, which may have wiped that out. Since the note was interest-only, he was building no equity, either.
The only smart thing for him to do is walk away from it -- probably the conclusion all the owners of the other amazing homes came to, too. Even if he lost his money in bad investments, this one is worse. :-\

If that condo was in Daytona, you might have wound up being miserable. I have lived and traveled all over the country, and have found no place more worthy of being described as the crab-infested Crotch of the Nation. I hated living there. I have never seen a town where people embrace ignorance and The Superficial with greater enthusiasm. It's like everyone there grew up watching Baywatch 18 hours a day, and are trying to make it real, with a lot less money.
I'm surprised David Hasselhof hasn't moved there, he would rule that town.
Plus the city, in its insane program to turn a city renowned for partying on the beach, redneck race fans blowing off steam, and biker rallies into a 'Family Vacation Destination', has cracked down severely on stripclubs after a years-long legal battle that went right to the Top.
This is why the US Supreme court just ruled that nudity in stripclubs can be declared illegal, thanks to fucking Daytona authorities. Now you have to wear booty shorts and ugly tape covering the entire breast.
St. Augustine, however, is beautiful. But the clubs close a like 1 AM or something, and if you want the amenities of a city, you have to drive to Jacksonville, which some people like but I'm not crazy about.
Flagler is pleasant but boring.
But yeah, seriously Loveandluxury, losing out on the condo was probably a blessing in disguise.
Daytona is a place where the tacky, flashy, nouveau riche types are in heaven; with plenty of really, really incredibly stupid, television-brainwashed people living in near poverty and desperation ready to kiss their ass. There are no jobs, unless you like subsistence wages or can start a business somehow.

Thanks for the first hand experience with Daytona. I'd actually prefer St. Augustine or maybe Sarasota as I'm not much of a Nascar or motorcycle fan. I was just in love with that condo because it was so damn close to the beach and super cheap. My husband really likes Daytona but isn't opposed to living elsewhere by the beach. It really may just be a good thing we didn't get it. Plus, I badly want a balcony because I want to sit outside and drink wine in the evenings and that condo didn't have one.

I knew it must have been in San Diego. :) There's no other explanation for the use of so much glass and the open views. Has to be a temperate climate.
The payments are for a traditional interest + principal loan vs. the interest-only loan the architect was paying.
