^ well, to be fair, if a dj letsay really works hard to play good music that the crowd likes, the dancers like, helps them make great money onstage and off, talks them up without talking too much...i don't mind if he makes more than dancers.

lets say there's 40 girls. the girls average 500$ and his average tip is 20$. that's more than dancers make on average...but they're happy with him and think he deserves what they give him individually. in a situation like that, i don't mind if he makes more. as long as he works for it.

How much did you tip him before this incident?

is that for me?

usually minimum. on the rare occasion he's actually played me a song i requested or something, i've tipped more. this guy doesn't respond to better tips, i swear. he makes enough off of other girls he really doesn't care. and believe me, the times he's played me requests, i spent so much time flirting with him and letting him grab on me, i'm not sure he deserved a damn thing.

I hated ridiculous fees. I had no problem paying house. I didn't like the clubs/agencies who screwed over the fees.

A few examples:
One club I worked at charged a $50 house, and 50% of your table dances. This was in 1993. The manager couldn't figure out why girls were leaving, so I told him. He agreed with me and dropped the $50 house. By then the damage was done. It went from a nice club to a dive. The owner died and the club was demolished.

I had no problem tipping the djs if they played what I wanted. I had no problem tipping those who got me a dance, such as a bartender or waitress. I resented tipping those who did nothing. One club required you to tip the dj, the head bouncer, the bartender, the housemom, AND the manager. I never used the housemom so why should I tip her? We didn't get free drinks (I brought in my own water), so why should I tip the bartender (who never helped the dancers? The bouncer helped get dances so I had no problem tipping him. I don't understand why we had to tip the manager since he did nothing for the girls, except hit on them. I ended up quitting this place after a few months because the fees got bigger and bigger.

Not just clubs either. I worked for a bachelor party company. Not only did I not get paid for the shows, I had to tip 25% of my tips! This in addition to paying a bouncer fee to the "manager" who sat there and did nothing while guys grabbed me. I did 2 parties in one night and made $80 total. I quit after this. I started doing parties on my own and keeping my money (except pay to a bouncer).

I worked for a lingerie company. Not only did I have to pay the agency (expected since they provided the items and the place), but the bar too! I did a 2 hour clean lingerie show and made $100. After tipout I walked out with $30. I worked only a few days with this company.

I hate how people take advantage of dancers.

dv8-I was doing hte rockstar thing so that i could at least be doing 4-5 shifts a week, which none of the other nice small clubs would let me. But, since they're no longer scheduling me that much, 205 and nicolai have split off, i really don't see a reason to stay.

I haven't been at casa in forever. I think you and i quit there at the same time.
Ugh! I think I know who you are talking about. It was the guy with the pink hair that dates one of the dancers there wasn't it? I hate that guy. he pulled the same shit on me when I worked there. fuck that fat piece of shit. I'm sorry he pulled the same crap on you in the same club, even if it wasn't the same guy. that shit blows ass.

I wouldn't worry about seeing him else where. he's not a good enough DJ to work in any other club. He just has favoritism at DV8.

I've always been the type of person to tip everyone no matter what but now I say fuck that!

If you don't do shit for me and I can't see you ever benefiting me in anyway I will never tip you shit!

I decided this last week when I did 3 for 100 in the private room and came out and tipped the bouncer that was standing there.

Now this guy didn't do shit for me! He didn't stop the dude from trying to touch me 1 million times he didnt get me like he gets the other girls when the songs are done nothing

Then the icing on the cake he doesn't even say thank you after I give him the money and he does the shoo signal with his hand? fuck him and anyone that doesn't help me

I work hard for my money and Ill be damned if I tip someone that doesn't work hard for theirs

Every time I read one of these threads, I feel blessed that I've worked with so many really awesome DJs, and so few crappy ones.

+1! I've only ever worked with one truly awful DJ, and that's in two years and 5 clubs so far. Hope I'm not jinxing myself for my next club!

Yeah, I've dealt with a couple of lazy button monkeys, but that's the worst of it for me. *knocks on wood*
