A Walther PPK works wonders.

What is that? The only PPK I know of is the Russian techno group. But somehow I doubt that's what you're talking about. :P

I used to cut and/or binge and starve, mostly around my freshman year of college. I've gotten a lot better about that. Used to blog a lot which I don't do as much anymore.

Now if I don't feel like doing it in a healthy way I bum around and feel sorry for myself, or I also spend money on things I really shouldn't. I wouldn't say I'm a shopaholic but my frugal habits do tend to slip a bit when I'm not doing very well.

If I have the initiative to do it in a healthy way I go for a walk, sing (amazing how much that helps even though I suck), spend a lot of time with my dog, or... I really like sex too lol especially if it's a lonely kind of thing.

I really miss having horses. They were the best.

Hmmm. OK, here's my quick fixes: Stoly Vodka martinis; 2003/2001 Barolo or Barbaresco; 8 mg Ativan, 600 mg Wellbutrin; 7.5/750 Vicodin; 2 mg Xanax; alternatively, if I'm taking a monastic oath of celibacy, then either 10 mg Lexapro or 20 mg Celexa.

you're kidding, right?

How does shopping help?

It's just another little thing that makes me feel better. And yes, it's an addiction in my life. Right now I'm not doing too many "healthy" things to deal. My friends have gotten me out and while I have tons of friends/acquaintances I still feel lonely. The other day though I went out with a friend, made sandwiches, and took them to the homeless. I was pouty most of the time but I think it was good. OK, back to sleeping on the couch and watching TV.

I read a lot. Listen to music. Vent to friends or my therapist. I waste hours on the computer doing nothing.

If shits really bad I'll take a Valium or smoke some pot.

I like to beat a few homeless guys on my way home. Don't worry - I give them my spare change after.

I like to pretty much have meaningless flirtation and sex, preferably with a near stranger and maybe go to a movie. Re-organizing everything on my computer is good too.

I clean when I am pissed/sad/angry/depressed/lonely. My home is usually spotless lately.

I know! Really! I wish I cleaned at all. I hate it.

Anyway, this thread is interesting.

When I was younger I'd drink a whole hell of a lot and have random sex with strangers, now that I'm a mom I don't really have time for emotions.

No, I'm quite serious.

Deep down inside, and very late at night, I fear that I may be the illicit spawn of some horrible liaison between one of the minor Gods of Valhalla and Satan himself.

Sex in nightclub toilets, Jagermeister shots, ketamine and ativan. Thankfully I have a bunch of friends who also after the whole numb escape thing so at least I don't have to fuck myself up on my own.

Last week I was sad, we drank 5 bottles of Jager between 3 of us in a week. This week I'm okay, haven't had a drop. Hah.

I also play Xbox to escape.

Jagermeister is popular in Australia? Hmm. I live where it is very popular (hunters-of-German-descent-galore up here!) and it's not my thing- I abhor anise/licorice smells. But to each his or her own.......

I am having some Bacardi because I was melancholy...It only makes me sadder that I have to work out harder to not get fat from drowning my sorrows with da booze.

Let's see....copious amounts of Patron Silver, weed, good books, valium, curling up in a ball for weeks, stripperweb, sex with my ex, shopping for makeup and clothing, and on occasion I say fuck it and try to off myself. Seriously and no that is not a cry for help it is just a fact. God I hope the lexapro kicks in soon. In my younger days opiates were always nice but now just every once in a blue moon.

I drink. I smoke a cigar. I masturbate. I got to strip clubs and pay for achingly-needed human contact. I distract myself with a video game or a movie. I buy myself something nice, or take a relaxing bath. I eat something unhealthy but really tasty. In short, I do something nice for myself or something I enjoy. Not the healthiest list ever, but then, feeling miserable all the time isn't healthy either.

jager shots in red bull are like the 'in' drink here, although my friends and i are the only people i know who just drink it straight out of the bottle.

Art, sleep, and lots and lots of pills. An occasional bought of SI.

Exercise, reading (escapist), a quick cry, surfing the net with a glass of wine, going to the movies by myself, meditating, writing, something artsy, going out with friends if I think I just need to be social. If it's panic-attack city, I'll take an ativan if I have it. If not, I tire myself out and have some kava tea. I don't feel the urge to do self-destructive things like I did in my early 20's, save for once or twice a year, but these feelings abate after some downtime now. That simple acknowledgment lessens the anxiety for some reason.

I tried that once and ended up going 4wheeling in the middle of the night so drunk I had to keep stopping to throw up outside the Jeep. Turned me off hittin the Jager bottle....:-\

I take my car out on a windy, empty road and push it hard. There's something about being on the edge of self-destruction that heals inner turmoil... For me anyway.

You know what really helps? The most effective thing you can do to escape your problems is help somebody else with theirs. That makes you feel soo good, worthwhile and needed.
