Medicare gives you money?! Wow..America is not like that.
I like Halloween. I might even participate in it. We'll see.

it's called a rebate. like you pay $78 for your doctors visit, and medicare give you a cheque back for $63. or you just pay $13 at the doctor and then medicare send you a cheque that you give back to the doctor. those might not be the exact right numbers but it's something like that.

:D I keep telling those silly Americans to come to Australia. We pay $60 to go to the doctor and the government pays us like $53 back WITHOUT HEALTH INSURANCE we pay $7-15 a doctor's visit.
And if the place bulk bills, we pay nothing. :P

And get this.. if you go to the office right after the doctor, you can get the rebate within 10 minutes of going to your checkup! :D

yeah bulk billing is awesome. i've only found one doctor here that does it but i live to far away now, with what petrol costs i'd rather just pay the $10 it costs me to go to the surgery at the end of my street haha.

Or you live here and just give them your Ontario health card and pay nothing, never. Shazaam!!
Unless it's physiotherapy or the dentist or the pharmacy.
Also, we pay high taxes.
...and Canadians don't like to sound braggy. So, I'm sorry. hehe

the only suggestion I would make is make the end date a week to two weeks before Halloween so that if there's mailing issues people can still get their stuff before the holiday in order to enjoy it on the holiday if applicable.
yeah. i may make the exchange date a week before the holiday. like, the friday before or something. i was thinking about that earlier .....while shaving my legs. lol
that way if people give halloween themed gifts the person can enjoy it/use it in time.
also, halloween themed gifts won't be "mandatory", but i think it would be nice if everyone at least somewhat kept with the theme.

Yeah I can't do mandatory Halloween... we don't even have that holiday in this country. I could buy candy and that's about it.

well, i'm saying it'll be heavily encouraged that people at least -try- to keep it within the theme, and i honestly think most people will. but, for the sake of people like lys who have a harder time finding halloween stuff, i don't want to be a -total- nazi about it. :P

it seems we've semi-collectively decided that the exchange deadline should be a week before halloween. that will give everyone time to enjoy any halloween themed presents they receive.
since the exchange deadline has moved "up a week" from what i originally thought. i think the great pumpkin halloween exchange should go like this:
friday, september 12th - sign ups begin - i start the "official" thread for the exchange and have the exchange ready to go on elfster.
friday, september 19th - name drawing date. everyone must be signed up -before- this date to participate.
friday, october 24th - exchange deadline. all presents should be received by this date.
that gives everyone 1 week to sign up and 5 weeks after "drawing a name" to buy and mail gifts for their person.
does this sound good to those of you interested in participating so far? that means the sign ups would start about 6 weeks from now.

if you're under the limit you can always have someone vouch for you. that's how we've done it previously. :)
and FTR: i don't recommend vouching for anyone unless you actually do trust that person. since, you become responsible should they flake out.

Previously it was that the person HAD to know you in RL to vouch for you...as in my case.
I think I'll be over a grand by this next one though, third times a charm! ;D

i'm thinking the rule will be:
500 minimum post count -or- someone who knows you IRL vouches for you.
callilove: that gives you 6 weeks to make 484 posts. that's roughly 11 posts a day. YOU CAN DO EEET.

Do I need to register an elfster account soon?
it doesn't matter. you can register the day you sign up for the exchange or earlier if you want.
all of this information will be in the "official thread", but i wanted to put this here in case people want to sign up to elfster earlier:
************it is VERY helpful if you register on elfster with the same name you use on stripperweb. if you already have an elfster account under a different name, or are just (for some odd reason) opposed to using the same one, please make sure to put your SW name in the "comment" when you sign up for the exchange.*******************
otherwise i will have no idea who you are when you sign up, and neither will the person who draws your name. :)

Good deal. I signed up with my real name and then went...Oh shit.
I'll just sign up for one on here and then one for my site I think. I dont' really understand how to set one up to placce on my site to get random gifts. Kids always want to know how to send me things.
Is there a way to set things up without having to have a deadline etc?

I just updated my Elfster profile, it's under BrunetteGoddess though from the SS 07 Exchange, so it should cut down on confusion. I'll just keep the name.

i haven't linked my wishlist anywhere, but i think you just make sure "anyone" is selected in your settings where it says "who can view my wishlist" and then just post the link to it......
i THINK anyway.

I'd like to join in the Halloween goodie exchange madness. Count me in.
No can do for me. All Hallows Eve is the day after my birthday (haha.. EVERY year.. hahaha). That week I shall be in New Zealand until 3 Nov. Prior to that is Indy 300 (www.indy300.com.au) which is super busy work-wise for me.
I wish I could be in on it........ unless somehow I find out who my "secret" person is before Indy.
BTW Lysondra, we can still do Halloween here. It just isn't "recognised" here as much as the USA. A lot of Australians regard it as "an American holiday".

I know you can DO halloween... but it's not like they sell pumpkins and and straw brooms at the market the week before.
