I haven't been 21+ so I don't know how different I'll be then but I don't feel emotionally scared, don't do crack and don't cause drama. I know more druggies and irresponsible people who are 21 than ones who are 18. I've always gotten along with older people though, so maybe I'm different but really people can be drama llamas and naive at any age.

I feel like I could have started dancing at 16. I'd probably of been a lot happier. I don;t think they should change the age or anything but I would have been fine if not in a better place now if I had started then. I think you're an excellent example of a young person who can successfully strip. I was shocked when I read on the board that you are 18.

I say 21. Of course, that means I would have lost out on lots of money since I was 18 but I think it's a good age to start.

"A good age to start" as in you think it should be illegal to strip under 21, or you just wouldn't recommend it?

I really wish I had started earlier like about 22-23 instead of 26. I could have owned my own house by now, well assuming I was smart with the money. Plus all those years working retail arrrrggggh if only I had the courage to strip earlier.

As in I'd be content if the law changed to make the minimum age 21. And the maturity isn't really the factor here for me, that depends on the person, regardless of age. But I'd support the higher age to prevent actual underage girls from working in the club (like 16 year olds posing as 18 year olds). I've seen it happen, and I don't like it. Also, if everyone was over 21 you can erase underage drinking as a problem. And no, that doesn't make things perfect, but that's just my opinion. And if the law WAS different, I would have been pissed off because I made so much money naked before I was 21! Why are some clubs only 21 and up customer-wise?

When i was younger going to the stripclub (Montreys in ATL would let you in at 16) i didn't think anything of it but as i've gotten older it just doesn't seem right to see those young girls up in there. Last year in like August this stripper told me she was 18 and i didn't believe her so she gave me her myspace addy and when i checked it i saw she had her high school graduation pics from May on there all i could was damnn this girl was just in a high school classroom 4 months ago. I've also been to private parties were i'm certain some of the girls were underage.

Because the clubs sale alcohol and most businesses that have a alcohol license can't allow people under the age of 21 to enter

I think you should have to be at least 18 and pass some sort of psychological test. I know Joplin in person, we work together and hang out outside of work sometimes and I always forget she is 18. I'm 23 and I generally don't care for younger people but she is one of the ost kick ass girls I've ever met.

It would be unfair to discount people with the maturity of Joplin just because of their age. However, just because somebody is 23 doesn't make them mature and able to handle dancing either which is why I think at least 18 with some sort of psychological evaluation.

21, one of the best things about Vegas.

:D LOL That is why I HATE Vegas! I cannot legally dance there. And appearantly, according to most SC customers and a majority of this board, I'm "just a baby." I wish I had a nickel for everytime I heard that phrase spewed from a customers mouth with shock and horror. And, of course, its always said after I've been entertaining for an extended amount of time and they were enjoying my company until I answered their age inquiry truthfully. "You're just a baby!" :gasp: Usually followed by him quickly shoving payment towards me in a GTF off my lap ASAP manner. This is why I now ALWAYS lie about my age. However, it is amusing that a grown man behaving so infantile in the prescence of T&A, a pair of whcih he was enjoying enourmously, is disgusted by the mentioning of a number and rudely names me the 'baby' when his underdeveloped infant brain cannot even comprhend "No, you can not pet the kitty."
I still feel the minimum age to strip should be 18. For fucks sake, at 18 you can vote in the presidenial election helping decide the fate of our nation, sign your ass away to the army for 8+ years, AND decide if you want lung cancer 20 years from now. But an 18yo CANT strip ? If there's one thing I've learned in my 19+ years of life experience its that ignorant and plain fucking dumb individuals have rights too! (Unfortunately :P jk)
People mature and age differently and their life decisions should be made accordingly by THAT individual. Sometimes they make poor choices, but were not living in a Utopia here! If it was a Utopia though I'd have to agree with L&L about the pyschological evaluation for strippers ;D Keep dreaming ladies, keep dreaming...

I think 18 is appropriate. I wish I didn't have to work with anyone under 21-22 though. I fucking hate the drama the younger dancers seem to thrive on.

as i already stated, this is not true for many areas.

here in tampa you can be an 18 and work in a club that sells alcohol where the admittance is 21+ only. every club i've ever worked at has been that way. dancers can be 18+, customers must be 21+.

Here in Ogden, some 16 year old dancers work private parties and strip nude. My son (age 26) has gone to them and invited me, but I would feel too weird. What if one of them were a girl I had taught?

Earlier this year, a 16 year old used a stolen ID to get hired at a local club. Here is anews article that was posted on ksl.com:

In Utah, you have to be 21 to get a drink at a bar. So, Ogden investigators want to know how a 16-year-old girl got into a local bar and what she planned to do there.

That teen could now be facing charges for using a fake ID to get a job, but it's the type of job she had that really caught the attention of law enforcement.

Ogden police are still investigating, but they say that 16-year-old girl used the fake ID to get a job as a dancer at a local strip club.

"It's not that unusual to steal an ID to get into the bar," said Lt. Loring Draper, with the Ogden Police Department. But to use a fake ID to get a job as a dancer in a strip bar? That's something police haven't seen before.

"We got a complaint of a 16-year-old that was dancing at the Lighthouse," Draper said.

When officers went to the Lighthouse Lounge the teen wasn't there, but she was listed on the dancer schedule under her stage name, "Halo."

"It appears that she borrowed somebody's driver's license, or took somebody's driver's license, and used that to get in," Draper said.

The Lighthouse Lounge declined to comment, but the Ogden Standard Examiner reports employees approached management with concerns the teen looked too young.

The city requires all dancers and strip clubs to have sexually-oriented business licenses; nude dancers have 30 days to get one from the police station. "They get an application, we run backgrounds, we confirm all the information, make sure that they qualify," Draper explained.

The Weber County Prosecutor is now deciding if any charges should be filed. We spoke to him by phone, and he says, so far, he's seen no evidence the club knew the girl was underage.

As for the teenager, she could face charges of ID theft as well as frequenting a tavern.

The local paper reported that the girl was a runaway and that the other dancers turned her in after figuring out that she was underage by what she talked about in the dressing room.

One thing that is wrong in the article is the part about nude dancing. There are no nude clubs in Ogden. Someone tried to openone out in the industrial park, but the mayor wouldn't allow it, so it opened as a pastie club instead.

Anyway, I vote for age 18, but I think it should be 18 and out of high school.

^^^

I agree about the drinking if everybody was using a real ID. I started going out drinking when I was 17 (legal age is 21) and I certainly did not look older than my age. My fake was good and people turned a blind eye.

I feel like if the law here was 18 then 15 year olds would have a fake ID...EEEK!!!

Didn't really read the rest of the posts, kind of in a hurry, but just wanted to drop in with my opinion. I know I am new here so my opinion might not matter but I believe each case is definitely different. Many 18 year olds definitely are not emotionally mature enough to have a career in this field. But then there are 18 year olds like me who unfortunately have the messed up life of a 30 year old. I was homeschooled through high school, graduated when I was sixteen, have worked for the past two years, am married, and sadly my husband is in prison for the next two years for something he didn't do, and I know he didn't do this so don't go there please. My point is, I need to do this for the money and I have wanted to do this as long as I can remember (yes, strange I know). Maturity levels depend on the person, not the age. I know who I am. I am my husband's loving wife, a pretty, smart young woman, and someone who needs to pay the bills and keep a roof above my head, food on the table, and save for a decent future when I am reunited with the love of my life two years from now.

This is just my situation and I do believe that 18 is old enough for me. Maybe not for others my age whose main concerns are partying, drinking, and having one night stands, but for someone like me who's concerns are paying bills, taking care of the ones I love, and having a decent future, I think it is completely acceptable.

20 or 21. I used to strip with a couple girls who were 18 but still in high school. I wanted to throttle them and tell them to go back and be kids for a little bit longer.

I think you should have to be at least 18 and pass some sort of psychological test. Now that, I"d be all for ;D But again, (I think I've posted this already) but I'd like them to be at least 21.

If I could go back in time, I would have run away at 16, gotten a fake ID and started stripping. I was in a horrible situation and that would have given me the opportunity to make lots of money.

However, the human brain isn't fully developed until the age of 21. Looking back now, I can see some immature things I did when I started stripping at 21, and I wish I would have been more mature when I started.

I really think 21 would be the best age. 18-year-olds just seem too easy to manipulate and prey upon in some ways.
